Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

49: Chapter 49 Slaughtering the Ant Swarm, a Dark and Windy NightBai Xuan’s figure flashed by, and in the blink of an eye, he appeared on the neck of the Black Armored Ant.

With lightning speed, his sharp Eagle Claw forcefully twisted off the head of the Black Armored Ant, then tossed it into his mouth and chewed.

Seeing this, the other black ants were thoroughly enraged. They let out bursts of angry ”hissing” sounds, launched themselves, and rushed toward Bai Xuan like waves.

Before long, they had filled the entire area.

Just as the black ants were about to tear Bai Xuan to pieces alive, a cold current struck, freezing all the ants in the area. Immediately after, a flash of cold light appeared, dense and countless.

In the blink of an eye, all the frozen black ants were sliced into fragments, falling to the ground piece by piece, piling up until it was impossible to tell one from another.

Bai Xuan stood atop the corpses of the black ants, opened his eagle beak, and sucked all the carcasses into his stomach before letting out a satisfied burp:

”This must be the path leading to the Ant Queen’s lair.”

The system notifications poured in continuously:

[Devoured mutated black ant, Tier 1, Stage 8, obtained 80 evolution points]

[Devoured mutated Black Armored Ant, Tier 2, Stage 4, obtained 500 evolution points.]

[Devoured mutated Black Armored Ant, Tier 2, Stage 3, obtained 400 evolution points.]

[Devoured mutated Black Armored Ant, Tier 2, Stage 2, obtained 300 evolution points.]

...

Bai Xuan jumped into the lowest hole on the left wall; it was a long slope leading directly to the Ant Queen’s lair.

The Ant Queen’s lair was several hundred meters underground. The tunnels here were quite complex; an ordinary person would truly never find their way out after entering.

After some time, Bai Xuan finally arrived at the Ant Queen’s lair. What met his eyes was a giant white ant.

Or rather, it looked more like a pale, oversized worm. The area was filled with ant eggs, and hundreds of ants were busy transporting them to other underground nests to hatch.

The space here was immense, easily the size of five or six football fields. The Ant Queen, about ten meters long, lay motionless in the center.

Only after sensing an intruder did she suddenly wake up. Her massive body had the front half of an ant at the end, and she glared furiously at Bai Xuan:

”Audacious! Get out!”

At this moment, she still didn’t understand the situation and maintained a haughty demeanor.

Other ants surrounded the Ant Queen to protect her, while reinforcements arrived from other tunnels, dense and pitch-black. They were all the Ant Queen’s loyal subjects, following her every command and looking to her for guidance.

Cold air radiated from Bai Xuan’s wings as he gathered spiritual energy there.

Once the ants had gathered, Bai Xuan launched his attack, waving out dozens of Ice Flying Blades. One strike caused massive casualties.

Seeing this, the black ants felt a bit timid, but they bit the bullet and charged forward, a dark, dense wave rushing toward Bai Xuan.

Meanwhile, the black ants in the rear began to transport the Ant Queen’s massive body away from the battlefield.

Although the Ant Queen was massive and high-leveled, she possessed little combat power. She was only responsible for mating with strong ants and producing eggs; she didn’t need to worry about anything else.

Her every need was taken care of by the other ants. The ant colony had their own missions, fulfilling their duties diligently, doing what they were supposed to do, and exhausting every effort to expand the size of the colony.

”Kill it for me! Kill it!” The Ant Queen felt immense rage toward Bai Xuan, the intruder. If looks could kill, Bai Xuan would have died countless times over.

”Ant Queen, please calm down, don’t ruin your health. We will definitely kill it and bring its corpse before you.”

”That’s right, the most important thing now is to evacuate. We must not let the Ant Queen suffer even the slightest harm.”

Suddenly, the dense swarm of ants was frozen. Immediately afterward, a figure rushed out from the ant swarm, heading straight for the Ant Queen. This figure was none other than Bai Xuan.

Bai Xuan gathered spiritual energy into his legs. After charging up, he unleashed an [Ice Flying Blade] from his leg. Within this Ice Flying Blade, one could vaguely see diamond-shaped scales.

The [Ice Flying Blade] sliced the Ant Queen’s massive, milky-white body in two. Thus, the Ant Queen fell.

Seeing the Ant Queen die.

The ant colony’s rage reached its peak. They charged at Bai Xuan desperately, some from the walls, some from the ground, swearing to tear Bai Xuan to pieces to appease the hatred in their hearts!

In this situation, Bai Xuan was happy to see it: ”Just in time.”

[Mystic Cold Ice Rain]

[Extreme Cold Wing Blade]

[Ice Flying Blade]

[Extreme Cold Storm]

Skills emerged one after another; this could no longer be called a battle, but a slaughter.

Large swathes of fierce beasts died at Bai Xuan’s hands, yet ants continuously entered from the cave entrance, looking as if they would fight to the death.

An hour later, Bai Xuan sat on the corpses of the black ants. The bodies had long since piled up like a mountain, with green blood flowing, creating a river of blood.

Bai Xuan was panting, eating while killing. The area was limited after all, and with too many corpses piled up, other ants couldn’t get in. This had cost Bai Xuan quite a bit of effort:

”Finally, it’s over.”

Bai Xuan looked at the mountain of corpses before him and sighed helplessly:

”Even a mosquito is meat, no matter how small; might as well eat it.”

In any case, his stomach was a bottomless pit; devouring these beast corpses was just a matter of time.

Bai Xuan wasn’t in a rush to eat. Instead, he relied on his divine sense to search for spirit stones and found a top-grade spirit stone inside the Ant Queen’s body.

Then, in the bodies of other commander Black Armored Ants, he found Mid-Grade Spirit Stones. There were also quite a few spirit stones beneath the spot where the Ant Queen had been staying.

There were both mid-grade and low-grade ones, likely used to reward ants that performed meritorious deeds.

Just like that, Bai Xuan spent another hour devouring all the ant corpses.

As expected of a large clan, the numbers were high, and the resources were also vast.

Bai Xuan let out a burp, rubbed his stomach with his wing, and then flapped his wings to fly into the tunnel: ”Fed and full, time to leave.”

This trip was well worth it. He had also obtained quite a few spirit stones from the Snow Wolf clan, and combined with wiping out a large clan, he could be said to have made a fortune.

After finishing up here, Bai Xuan planned to go check out other areas, including the sea, and do his utmost to raise his own level.

...

Night fell, and the bright moon hung in the sky.

Bai Xuan flew slowly through the air, heading toward the cave on the mountaintop.

”A dark and windy night is the perfect time for a surprise attack.”

Bai Xuan intended to strike while the iron was hot and wipe out the Savage Bear Clan as well.

Action followed thought; Bai Xuan headed toward the territory of the Savage Bear.

...

Meanwhile, at the Snow Wolf clan.

”What? You want us to submit to another alien race?”

”I absolutely disagree! Our wolf clan has so many numbers, do we need to fear a single little bird? How ridiculous! Could it be that you’re afraid of death and don’t dare to fight?”

”Since that’s the case, we’ll handle it ourselves. You can just stay here peacefully and wait for our good news; you don’t need to go fight.”

”If the Wolf King cannot lead us to defeat the enemy, then what do we need a Wolf King for?”

”What do you mean? Are you trying to challenge the Wolf King and take his place? You’d need to have the strength for that!”

”Am I wrong? If even the Wolf King is greedy for life and afraid of death, what do we need a Wolf King for? If it really doesn’t work out, let’s split up. I’ll take my wolves... and go survive somewhere else. That should be fine, right!”

The wolf clan commanders went back and forth, everyone furious. Some were even cursing loudly. If it weren’t for other wolves stopping them, they would have almost started fighting.
