Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

48: Chapter 48 Feigning Ignorance, the Black Ant SwarmHearing this, the Snow Wolf King felt extremely aggrieved, but for now, he could only agree to Bai Xuan, deciding to wait for Commander Wolf to return and discuss it before making a final decision.

”Very well.”

”Oh, right, you must have acquired quite a few spirit stones a while ago, right?”

”What spirit stones? I don’t know what you are talking about.”

”Don’t play dumb. Just honestly hand them over.”

”I really don’t know what you are talking about.”

The Snow Wolf King naturally did not want to hand over the spirit stones, so he continued to play dumb.

A surge of icy aura erupted from Bai Xuan’s body. A blade of icy spiritual energy tore through the air, flying right over the Snow Wolf King’s head and slicing through a dozen large trees before dissipating.

The trees crashed to the ground, giving the wolf pack and the Snow Wolf King quite a scare.

”I will give you one last chance. If you dare to play dumb again, the next strike will take off your head, just like those trees.”

”I’ll hand them over! I’ll hand them over, okay?” the Snow Wolf King replied in a hurry, wanting to cry but having no tears.

Why was he so miserable, running into such an unreasonable master!

”So you were indeed deceiving me. Tell me, how should I deal with you? Should I cut off one of your paws, or perhaps half of your body?”

”I know I was wrong, I know I was wrong! I won’t dare to do it again. Please, as a great eagle, have mercy and spare me this once.” The Snow Wolf King was truly terrified and began to beg for mercy.

He still had a bright future ahead and did not want to perish here.

A gentleman takes revenge even ten years later; once he had the ability, he vowed to take his revenge.

”I will spare you this once today. If there is a next time, bear the consequences yourself. What are you waiting for? Hurry up and hand over all the spirit stones.”

Seeing this, Bai Xuan nodded in satisfaction.

The Snow Wolf King brought out the spirit stones he had hidden, as well as those from the other female wolves, and placed them in a dense pile on the ground in front of Bai Xuan.

It seemed they were quite lucky to have acquired so many spirit stones. But then again, it was impossible to grow to this level in such a short time without the enhancement of spirit stones.

The Snow Wolf King did not dare to hold anything back and handed over all the spirit stones. Among them was one high-grade spirit stone, dozens of Mid-Grade Spirit Stones, and over a hundred Low-Grade Spirit Stones. There were others from the wolf pack that hadn’t returned yet, so he couldn’t get those for now.

Seeing how sensible the Snow Wolf King was, Bai Xuan did not make things difficult for him again.

He swallowed all the spirit stones into his stomach and left behind a single sentence:

”I will come back at this time tomorrow. I hope by then... you will be able to make the correct decision.”

After saying this, he flapped his wings and flew away.

”Wolf King, are we really going to submit to an... outsider species?”

”Even if we agree, will the other Wolf Clan commanders agree?”

”I think we should unite to fight against that giant eagle, otherwise our wolf pack will never have a chance to rise.”

”Well said. That giant eagle cannot be trusted. It only wants to use us. Once the Wolf Clan has no value, we will be ruthlessly abandoned or even killed!”

Several of the Snow Wolf King’s mates were questioning him, while others were voicing their own thoughts.

”Sigh, that guy has likely advanced to the Third Rank. We are simply no match for him. The only way to survive is to pretend to submit and then, once we have the ability, take our revenge!”

The Snow Wolf King sighed helplessly; he had naturally thought of these things.

But only after experiencing it personally did he realize how terrifying Bai Xuan was. Just resisting the pressure was difficult enough, let alone fighting him. This had to be power only possessed by a Third Rank creature. Who on earth was that giant eagle?!

”Third Rank!” they exclaimed.

Although they had never seen a Third Rank ferocious beast, they knew that a Third Rank was a terrifying existence, just like how they, as Second Rank, didn’t hold First Rank or Sub-Rank creatures in any regard.

The gap between the Third Rank and the Second Rank would be even greater.

”Yes, I have a premonition that this is not power that a Second Rank could possess; it is very likely Third Rank. If we don’t submit, the consequences are predictable. Even if we tried our best to repel him, how many attacks could we withstand?”

As long as there is life, there is hope; this was the Snow Wolf King’s current mindset.

...

Bai Xuan arrived at the territory of the Black Ant Clan, which ranked second.

A massive snow-capped mountain had been hollowed out, its surface covered in dense holes.

After the venomous black ants grew in size, they were no longer satisfied with building ordinary ant nests. Instead, they hollowed out an entire small mountain to build their nest. These ants were extremely united, and even the top-ranked Savage Bear Clan dared not provoke them rashly.

Black ants the size of small cars led a massive swarm of ants back to the nest in a grand procession, crawling into the holes in a long line that resembled a dragon.

These soldier ants were quite large and had high ranks, with the lowest being First Rank, Third Stage. The one leading them was even at the Second Rank, Fourth Stage. Such a massive force was enough to sweep through most colonies of gregarious animals.

They were all carrying food, able to lift prey larger than themselves. Their sharp mandibles could tear flesh and decompose carcasses, which they then carried back to the ant nest.

Bai Xuan circled in the sky, looking down at the massive ant colony:

”If this force were placed in a human settlement, it would surely cause quite a panic and result in many casualties.”

This was indeed true. Whether in terms of numbers, strength, or defensive power, these ants were terrifying. They did not fear bullets and could even withstand rocket launchers without dying. It would be very difficult to destroy them.

Bai Xuan shrank his size, concealed his aura, and flew toward the ant nest.

He killed a few soldier ants that discovered him, swallowed them, and then entered the hole.

Bai Xuan killed and devoured as he went, and his evolution points shot up rapidly.

At the same time, he released his divine sense, and before long, he found the location of the Queen Ant.

Bai Xuan had also figured out the layout of the cave tunnels. He had to admit, these ants really had a high talent for construction, and they were very efficient. The ant nest was sturdy and durable, and the tunnels were winding and crooked, making it very difficult for intruders to find the exit once they entered.

At the same time, the security was tight, with soldier ants patrolling. Upon discovering Bai Xuan’s intrusion, they didn’t hesitate at all to attack him, but they were all eaten by Bai Xuan.

Not long after, the ant colony was alarmed. Dense swarms of ants rushed toward Bai Xuan’s position from the winding tunnels.

Bai Xuan arrived at a cave within the mountain... a spacious clearing where the surrounding walls were full of holes leading to various places, and black ants were waiting there as well.

After Bai Xuan entered the clearing from the hole, numerous black ants crawled out from the other holes, surrounding Bai Xuan completely. Some crawled on the walls, their pairs of scarlet eyes staring unblinkingly at Bai Xuan, their gazes filled with murderous intent.

However, they did not attack directly, waiting instead for orders.

A giant black-armored ant, Second Rank, Fourth Stage, led them. Its legs were covered in barbs. It slowly walked forward and sized Bai Xuan up:

”Do you know whose territory this is? How dare you trespass!”
