Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

2: Chapter 2: A Lifesaving Grace, The Beginning of EvolutionThe crow discovered the grass nest under the tree, flapped its wings, flew to the edge of the nest, placed the large green caterpillar down again, and then pushed it into the nest.

Bai Xuan let out a faint, weak hawk screech to express his gratitude.

The crow did not stay long, turned, and flew away.

After all, this was the territory of the Goshawk couple.

It was normal for the crow not to dare to linger.

It was very smart; it didn’t caw, simply dropping off the food and leaving.

Bai Xuan didn’t overthink it; right now, the most important thing was to become stronger. Only by becoming strong could he survive better.

Bai Xuan ate the large green caterpillar in big bites, gaining another 0.1 Evolution Points.

Seven days later.

[Race]: Common Goshawk.

[Level]: None.

[Skills]: Hawk Beak [Intermediate], Sharp Talons [Intermediate], Flight [Low].

[Evolution]: {10 / 10}

[System Skill]: Eye of Insight.

During this time, Bai Xuan ate the food brought by the crow, averaging six large green caterpillars a day.

After gaining some strength, Bai Xuan found a new place to live.

After all, staying under the Goshawk’s nest was ultimately unsafe.

The crow was also easily susceptible to attacks from the Goshawks.

Therefore, he had to move.

He also took the crow to his new dwelling so it would know where he lived.

Now, Bai Xuan had become familiar with the crow; the crow had shown no hostility from start to finish, nor any intention to eat Bai Xuan.

Logically speaking, it was impossible for a crow to be this good to a fledgling hawk.

Perhaps it had experienced something.

Bai Xuan could only communicate simply with the crow; as for asking why it was helping him, that was clearly impossible as the other party couldn’t understand him.

Whenever Bai Xuan had time, he would hunt some insects to gain a few Evolution Points. He now had 10 Evolution Points and could evolve.

Bai Xuan’s appearance had also changed significantly. His body length was twenty centimeters, he had shed his downy feathers and grown real feathers, his back was black, his chest to his legs were white with black spots, his feet and toes were yellow, and his Sharp Talons were black.

The changes were quite significant, likely because Bai Xuan had spent two Evolution Points to upgrade his skills, and also because of the sufficient food.

Bai Xuan ate everything: earthworms, crickets, grasshoppers, bugs, and so on.

As long as it was edible, Bai Xuan would eat it. He wasn’t picky; as long as he could become stronger, that was all that mattered.

Hiding in a tree hole, Bai Xuan said: ”System, begin evolution.”

[Consumed 10 Evolution Points, beginning evolution.]

Half an hour later, the evolution was successful.

Bai Xuan’s body length reached fifty centimeters, his wingspan one hundred and thirty centimeters, his Sharp Talons were sharper, his eyes were piercing, and a tuft of white feathers had grown on top of his head.

[Race]: Mutant Goshawk.

[Level]: Sub-tier 1.

[Skills]: Hawk Beak [High], Sharp Talons [High], Vision [High], Flight [Intermediate].

[Evolution]: {0 / 20}

The Goshawk is a medium-sized bird of prey, and Bai Xuan was still in his juvenile stage.

Precisely because of this, even after evolving, he was still a bit smaller than those mature Goshawks.

As he ate more later on and grew, his body size and skills would follow suit.

An ordinary Goshawk has a body length of 60 to 70 centimeters, but to what extent Bai Xuan would grow, it was currently unknown.

Bai Xuan checked his own condition; he was very strong.

Compared to before the evolution... it was simply not on the same level.

Bai Xuan walked out of the tree hole; outside, the sun was high in the sky, blazing like fire.

The most difficult part was finally over, and hunting would be much smoother and easier from now on.

Bai Xuan flapped his wings and flew into the air.

At the same time, the crow also brought food to find Bai Xuan.

The crow’s body size had also grown much larger, even a bit bigger than Bai Xuan.

At this moment, it was carrying a mouse in its beak. Upon seeing Bai Xuan, it stopped advancing, flapped its wings, hovered in mid-air, and watched Bai Xuan vigilantly.

Bai Xuan landed, stood on the ground, pointed his wing at the tree hole, and then at himself, indicating that he was that very fledgling hawk.

The crow was very smart and understood Bai Xuan’s expression. It also landed on the ground but didn’t relax, continuing to watch Bai Xuan vigilantly.

”It’s normal to be vigilant. After all, not seeing me for a day and seeing such a big change, who would believe it?” Bai Xuan pondered how to explain it to the crow.

The crow looked at the hole, and there were no traces of digging.

And the scent on Bai Xuan completely matched the previous fledgling hawk; it had to believe that the Goshawk in front of it was the previous fledgling.

Could it be because of the evolution?

The crow quickly thought of this possibility.

After all, it had also evolved inexplicably, its mind going from muddled at the beginning to gradually becoming clear, which was the birth of intelligence, allowing it to figure many things out.

Ordinary creatures found it difficult to achieve this.

But the crow was different; it was already smart, and after mutating, it became even smarter.

The crow walked forward, stopped one meter in front of Bai Xuan, looked him up and down, and finally put down the mouse, using its claw to push the mouse to half a meter from Bai Xuan’s feet.

Bai Xuan lowered his head, picked up the mouse, and swallowed it in one gulp: ”Thank you, Brother Crow.”

[Consumed a small mouse, gained 0.2 Evolution Points.]

The system’s voice followed.

This time, the crow believed that Bai Xuan was that fledgling, so it stepped forward and rubbed its head against Bai Xuan’s neck and head, showing friendliness.

”Brother Crow, can you understand what I’m saying?” Bai Xuan let out a hawk screech, the volume neither too loud nor too soft.

Now he... had stepped into Sub-tier 1; he didn’t know if the crow could understand his words.

The crow tilted its head, looking at Bai Xuan, its eyes filled with confusion. Clearly, it couldn’t understand Bai Xuan’s words, and Bai Xuan couldn’t understand its words either.

Bai Xuan touched his stomach with his wing and then flapped his wings, indicating that he wanted to go out to hunt.

The crow nodded humanely, then flapped its wings and flew into the air, shaking its head at Bai Xuan to signal him to follow, implying it would take him to forage.

Bai Xuan flapped his wings and followed.

Just like that, a crow and a hawk flew in the sky.

...

[Consumed one squirrel, gained 0.2 Evolution Points.]

[Consumed one small black snake, gained 0.2 Evolution Points.]

[Consumed rabbit meat, gained 0.05 Evolution Points.]

Bai Xuan followed the crow to a place, and then they each went off to forage.

Bai Xuan ate everything: insects, rodents, snakes, and one medium-sized white rabbit.

The largest piece of food was naturally the white rabbit, yielding a total of 0.6 Evolution Points.

Bai Xuan was full and stood on a branch to rest, looking at the beautiful forest before him.

With sufficient food, a medium-sized bird of prey had a great advantage and was not easily preyed upon.

However, what made Bai Xuan feel puzzled was that there seemed to be few mutant creatures.

Since his rebirth, Bai Xuan had only encountered the crow as a mutant creature.

The Goshawk couple were not mutant creatures; Bai Xuan had identified them all before.

And where exactly was this? Bai Xuan didn’t know, nor did he know who to ask to find out.

If he could meet humans, perhaps the truth would surface.

However, Bai Xuan would not be foolish enough to actively approach humans.

Human hearts are hard to fathom, and the sea is hard to measure. Since they weren’t of the same kind, Bai Xuan didn’t dare to take that risk.

Moreover, he didn’t know much about this world. If he encountered humans, Bai Xuan would at most observe from a distance and would not get close.

The crow flew to the branch, gestured a few times with its wings toward Bai Xuan, asking if he had any worries?

Bai Xuan shook his head gently, indicating no.

The crow pointed its wing toward the distant Goshawk nest and looked at Bai Xuan.

”?” Bai Xuan felt puzzled; what did this mean?
