Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

8: Chapter 8 Low-grade spirit stones, dronesBai Xuan activated the Eye of Appraisal to check the information of this crystal.

[Low-Grade Spirit Stone, contains a large amount of impurities, devouring it can grant 100 evolution points.]

”I didn’t expect this to actually be a spirit stone. There shouldn’t be only one in the mountain range; I wonder where they are distributed?”

Bai Xuan muttered to himself, feeling somewhat surprised.

No wonder the Black Wolf King was able to evolve so quickly; the reason lay with this spirit stone. Had he known, he would have left it alive for questioning.

Sigh, forget it. Since things have come to this, I can only look for more in the future.

However, a single spirit stone provides a hundred evolution points, and that’s just a low-grade one. Doesn’t that mean there are higher-level spirit stones that give even more points when devoured?

”I must find more spirit stones.” Bai Xuan opened his mouth and tossed the spirit stone into his stomach. The Super Consumption System began to devour it.

Two and a half minutes later, the consumption was complete.

[Devoured one Low-Grade Spirit Stone, obtained 100 evolution points.]

At the same time, his own strength improved slightly. Bai Xuan had a feeling that if he ate a few more creatures with levels, he would be able to break through and step into the sixth stage of the Sub-tier.

There was no need to consume evolution points for this; he could save them for the next stage.

This is great! Thinking of this, Bai Xuan’s motivation surged. He had to find more spirit stones! He would strive to break through his level as soon as possible and step into Tier 1.

Bai Xuan grabbed the leftover hind leg meat of the Wolf King, flapped his wings, and flew into the sky, heading towards Little Black’s residence.

He wondered how Little Black was doing; he hadn’t seen him for several days.

Usually, Bai Xuan searched for prey alone. If he found something good, he would take it to Little Black to share, which was very helpful for Little Black’s level progression.

A drop of kindness should be repaid with a gushing spring.

If Little Black hadn’t saved him that day, he wouldn’t be who he was today.

...

Bai Xuan flew at an altitude of a thousand meters, looking down at every blade of grass and tree below. With the recovery of spiritual energy, the slaughter within the mountain range was increasing daily. The creatures seemed to understand that only by eating more could they become stronger and break the shackles of their bloodline genes.

It was possible that their digestive systems had changed, requiring more food to fill their stomachs.

This would make them even more frenzied. If the mountains were like this, then the human settlements must be...

Suddenly, Bai Xuan seemed to sense something. He instantly became alert and turned his head toward the perceived location, his pupils constricting.

He saw a drone appearing several hundred meters away, its camera pointed directly at him.

Seeing this, Bai Xuan chose to leave quickly. It seemed he had inevitably been discovered.

But then again, the larger the body, the easier it was to be spotted.

Moreover, with such major events happening in the mountains, the investigative resources deployed would only increase.

He had to remain vigilant at all times.

Seeing Bai Xuan fly away, the drone followed closely behind.

It wanted to gather more information about this massive Goshawk.

Meanwhile, inside a large military tent.

”It has already discovered us! Catch up quickly, don’t let it escape! It’s best if we can find its nest!”

”This Goshawk is simply too big! Its body length is at least 1.4 meters, and its wingspan is terrifying—estimated at 3.5 meters! It’s much larger than an ordinary Goshawk.”

”I suspect it must have eaten something in the mountains; otherwise, it could never have grown this fast.”

”What is happening to this world? Is the status of humanity about to be shaken?!”

”We absolutely cannot allow them to grow unchecked; otherwise, it will be a devastating blow to the Dragon Kingdom!”

”Right. While humanity is still at its peak, we must strengthen our suppression. Once humans research the mysteries of that mysterious power and utilize it, humanity will remain at the top of the pyramid from beginning to end.”

A group of experts and scientists watched the footage transmitted by the drone. Some were flushed with excitement, while others were slack-jawed with shock, finding it hard to believe.

The military tent was protected inside and out by soldiers with live ammunition, not daring to relax for a single moment.

After all, the slaughter in the mountains was increasing daily. Animals were becoming more vicious, even attacking humans and viewing them as prey.

Whether in forests, cities, or rural areas, there were reports of mutated creatures attacking humans all over the country.

Expert dissections revealed that the bloodline cells of these mutated creatures had changed, driving them to be more bloodthirsty and brutal. One could also say they were famished and wanted to consume more food to replenish the energy their bodies required.

”Elder Lin, do we need to send people to capture it?”

A middle-aged man in a military uniform stepped forward to ask.

”Let’s wait a bit longer. Wait until the higher-ups order more weapons and soldiers to be sent. Entering blindly is too dangerous.”

An old man in a white lab coat pushed up the frame of his glasses with his finger.

Just as he said, there were too many unstable factors in the mountains now. The exact extent of the deterioration was still unknown. Entering recklessly would only lead to unnecessary casualties, which no one wanted to see.

”Then, Elder Lin, do you think we humans can master this mysterious power?”

The Colonel spoke again after a moment of silence.

He was very worried, but at the same time, this was an opportunity to change the world.

Once this power was mastered, it would be of great help to humanity, potentially increasing lifespans and allowing people to live longer, while military strength would also see a significant boost.

If other countries were the first to master it, it would be a huge threat to the Dragon Kingdom.

Understanding and mastering this power was now the top priority.

”It’s temporarily impossible. Animals are better able to absorb this power, and where this power comes from is also currently unknown. However, I believe it won’t be long before we can master it. At that time, the rules of the world will undergo a massive change.”

”At the same time, I suspect this is the early stage of a great energy influx; there will be more and more later on. We must suppress these mutated creatures before then and conduct research to ensure that humanity remains at the top of the world’s pyramid!”

Elder Lin’s words were not without merit.

For the future of humanity and the Dragon Kingdom, this power had to be mastered as soon as possible. If it couldn’t be mastered, then the source of this power had to be destroyed!

As some countries had said, if the nation is gone, there is no need for the world to exist—though such words were met with mixed reviews.

From the perspective of all humanity, this did indeed make a lot of sense.

If this mysterious power could not be used by us, then there was no need for it to exist. And if all of humanity faced the desperate situation of extinction, then there was no need for this world to exist!

”I think so too. Elder Lin, I’m counting on you.” The Colonel naturally understood the gravity of the situation; he also had some understanding of the international state of affairs.

Currently, countries all over the world were experiencing incidents of mutated creatures harming humans. It wasn’t just on land; it was in the oceans too. This mysterious power had swept the globe, causing severe panic.

They were also working hard to maintain the situation, disposing of a large number of mutated creatures to ensure the safety of the people. Among them were some pets—some were vicious and frenzied, while others were gentle and emotionally stable.

The vicious ones were killed, while the gentle ones were taken for research.
