Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

9: Chapter 9 Biology Expert, Even Little Black Has Spirit Stones!Bai Xuan saw the drone pursuing him relentlessly.

He changed direction and flew straight toward the drone.

Seeing this, the drone didn’t dare to face Bai Xuan head-on. It chose to avoid his edge, flying backward while keeping its camera fixed on him without turning away.

With a whooshing sound, it became clear that the drone was not as fast as Bai Xuan.

His Eagle Claw crushed the drone into fragments, which fell to the ground.

”It seems I can’t stay in this area anymore.”

Bai Xuan sensed his surroundings; there was only this one drone, no others nearby, though they might be distributed elsewhere.

Bai Xuan was well aware of the Dragon Kingdom’s investigative and surveillance capabilities. As his level increased, he would attract more and more attention.

Sigh! Even so, Bai Xuan didn’t dare suppress his level. After all, dangers would only increase in the future as mutated creatures became more powerful. Not staying ahead would severely limit his future growth speed.

Most areas in neighboring countries were vast and sparsely populated, making it harder to be exposed. At the same time, the sea was also a very good option.

He would wait a bit longer; crossing the border was no easy task.

Bai Xuan headed toward Little Hei’s residence, hoping that Little Hei wasn’t under drone surveillance.

...

”That speed is truly astonishing!”

”We must nip it in the bud, or the consequences will be endless!”

”Exactly. It’s only been a short while, and it’s already grown to this extent. This is proof enough of the threat this Goshawk poses to the Dragon Kingdom. Its talent is exceptional, far surpassing other mutated creatures. I propose we send helicopters to kill it.”

”I disagree. We must capture it alive. This Goshawk has immense research value; it would be a pity to just blow it up. Perhaps it could even be used by us in the future.”

”I agree with that. It cannot be killed. This kind of mutated creature has more research value than others.”

”Quiet, everyone!” Elder Lin, the most authoritative expert present, slammed his hand on the table. What was the use of arguing? Could it solve the problem?

”Dead or alive, we await Elder Lin’s orders.” The Major’s tone was serious and solemn.

”Capture it alive if possible. If not, at least preserve the corpse; don’t blow it to bits,” Elder Lin said after a moment of contemplation.

”Yes, sir. I will report to my superiors immediately and mobilize the army. We will strive to bring it to you, Elder Lin, within three days.”

The Major gave a military salute, and Lin Xuan along with the other experts and scholars returned the salute.

”Then I shall trouble you with that,” Elder Lin nodded slightly.

The Major walked out of the military tent to report to his superiors.

Meanwhile, Elder Lin ordered people to redirect drones patrolling other areas to track Bai Xuan.

”Elder Lin, what should we do about that crow?”

”That crow is very smart and can speak human language. Do not harm it. Send those two Forest Rangers to negotiate and bring the crow back to the base. Perhaps this crow can provide us with useful information.”

Elder Lin spoke after weighing the pros and cons.

Seeing the terrifying growth rate of mutated creatures—both in physical size and intelligence—how could they not be nervous?

For the future of humanity, they absolutely could not allow them to keep growing.

However, there were so many across the globe that total eradication was clearly unrealistic. They could only suppress their growth. Perhaps only when humans fully mastered this mysterious power could they feel slightly more at ease.

Currently, large numbers of troops were being deployed to deal with mutated creatures, and many people had died.

The oceans were not peaceful either, with frequent attacks on fishing boats.

...

”It seems Little Hei has also been targeted,” Bai Xuan sighed.

Just now, Bai Xuan had discovered a drone silently observing near Little Hei’s home. He had attacked from behind, catching it off guard and crushing it.

The camera hadn’t caught him.

The reason Little Hei was being watched likely had everything to do with those two Forest Rangers.

When Bai Xuan first saw someone taking photos of Little Hei, he had a bad premonition, but he hadn’t expected it to happen so quickly.

And Little Hei was still foolishly showing off his physique and high intelligence. There were some technologies Little Hei didn’t understand, and his knowledge of humans was even scarcer.

It was somewhat understandable.

Ultimately, Bai Xuan hadn’t stepped in to stop it because he didn’t want to expose himself. Furthermore, killing to silence witnesses would only lead to more trouble.

Precisely because of this, Bai Xuan thought that since there were mutated creatures all over the country and the authorities couldn’t handle them all, and since crows were common, they wouldn’t necessarily come all this way to catch Little Hei. So, he hadn’t acted.

Bai Xuan flew to Little Hei’s nest and stood on the cliff. Little Hei’s nest could no longer accommodate him. Little Hei happened to be in the nest, and seeing Bai Xuan’s arrival, he said:

”Xiao Bai, have you grown bigger again?”

Little Hei was already used to it; Bai Xuan had great talent and improved quickly.

Little Hei’s talent wasn’t weak either; his level had reached Sub-tier Stage Two, and his body length was 80 centimeters. Compared to Bai Xuan, he was like a child.

Bai Xuan placed the Wolf King’s flesh from his beak onto the grass nest:

”Maybe it’s because I eat more. By the way, this is the hind leg meat of the Black Wolf King. It’s very nutritious; I brought it specifically for you.”

Little Hei looked at the flesh and could sense the power the owner had possessed in life. He hadn’t expected Bai Xuan to have killed it:

”Thank you.”

”Don’t be so formal. We are good brothers,” Bai Xuan laughed.

”Right, I have something for you too.” Little Hei walked to the center of the nest and used his claws to push aside the grass, revealing the items hidden inside.

They were two crystal stones! They emitted a faint blue glow and were the size of an adult man’s palm.

These were spirit stones, even larger than the one Bai Xuan had obtained.

”Today at dawn, I found these two stones while foraging. I can feel the massive energy contained within them; they should be very helpful to us. So I brought them back. I was planning to go find you and give you one, but I didn’t expect you to come to me first. This is fine too; saves me the trip. This one is for you.”

Little Hei gave the larger crystal to Bai Xuan.

”This... it’s too precious.”

”Between us brothers, there’s no need for that. Besides, I can’t use two. It’s worth it to give one to you, so just take it.”

”Then I shall accept it. Thank you, Brother Hei.”

Bai Xuan really wanted the spirit stone, but he had to maintain a bit of restraint.

[Low-Grade Spirit Stone, consuming it grants 100 evolution points.]

Little Hei began eating the Black Wolf King’s hind leg meat with great relish, muttering, ”So fragrant, so delicious.”

Meanwhile, Bai Xuan swallowed the spirit stone in one gulp, storing it in his stomach for now without absorbing it. Absorbing it would trigger an evolution, which required time, and now was not the moment.

He would increase his level after returning.

”You just swallowed it like that?” Little Hei’s jaw dropped in shock at Bai Xuan’s action. After all, it was a stone; wasn’t he afraid of indigestion?

Little Hei had to admit, Bai Xuan could really eat.

Perhaps he had been starved too much as a chick; now he could eat anything.

This also moved him deeply. Even if Bai Xuan wanted to eat that much, he still saved some to bring and share. He really hadn’t misjudged this eagle.

”This can be eaten. Just keep it in the stomach and digest it slowly,” Bai Xuan replied.

After all, that’s what the Black Wolf King had done. Little Hei could surely do it too.
