Starting As a Young Eagle, I Evolve Into an Ice Beast

42: Chapter 42 Carpet Bombing, Reunion.Bai Xuan scavenged two relatively small Aura Tides.

Bai Xuan didn’t touch the two areas belonging to the humans, fearing he might get hit by missiles.

That stuff wasn’t a joke; one mistake and he’d be blown to smithereens.

With the ability to be fired from a distance, the Beidou military satellite navigation system for precision strikes, and radar-guided tracking missiles, Bai Xuan didn’t want to take a hit.

Even ten lives wouldn’t be enough to survive that.

Meanwhile, as the Aura Tide ended, the mountain range’s aura grew denser. All things grew wildly, and towering trees rose from the ground, creating a dense forest.

The levels of Mutated Creatures were getting higher. From this Aura Tide, they had gained more or less, but they also suffered heavy casualties.

”It’s about time to leave.”

Bai Xuan knew that the Dragon Country would never easily abandon the mountain range and let the ferocious beasts take over and crown themselves kings! This was a major hidden danger; compared to other places, the mountain range posed a greater threat.

Bai Xuan soared through the air, passing by the military base stationed in the mountains.

It was empty. Bai Xuan felt puzzled; logically speaking, Dragon Country couldn’t possibly abandon the mountain range so easily.

”When things are unusual, there must be something wrong. It’s better to leave quickly.”

The Daxing Mountain Range was very suitable for Bai Xuan’s growth, but it was too dangerous.

This danger didn’t come from the Mutated Creatures, but from the humans.

Suddenly, over a dozen bombers appeared, along with fighter jets.

The fighter jets sliced through the void, flying at supersonic speeds. Sonic booms thundered, and condensation clouds appeared at their tails, looking like white mushrooms.

Their wings were loaded with various types of missiles, which were extremely expensive.

Seeing this, Bai Xuan’s pupils dilated. The usually calm Bai Xuan was thoroughly spooked:

”Holy crap! Is it necessary to go this far?”

These fighter jets weren’t targeting Bai Xuan, but the Mutated Creatures of the entire mountain range!

Dragon Country would not allow these Mutated Creatures to grow recklessly.

They had to nip them in the bud to buy more time for Dragon Country to grow.

At the very least, they had to stay on the same starting line.

After snapping out of it, Bai Xuan desperately flew toward the north.

This was Bai Xuan’s most pathetic escape yet.

There was no choice; thermal weapons were no joke.

Bai Xuan’s current speed was far inferior to that of supersonic fighter jets [diving down was another matter], but as long as he wasn’t discovered and pushed his Divine Sense to the maximum to dodge those missiles as much as possible, he could safely reach the neighboring country!

The fighter jets conducted carpet bombing. Mutated Creatures died at a terrifying rate, and the forest was bombed beyond recognition.

According to the higher-ups’ judgment, with the recovery of aura, even if the forest was bombed into nothingness, it could recover and return to its original state in a very short time.

That was why they dared to launch a large-scale bombing.

Bai Xuan constantly dodged incoming shockwaves and debris, sometimes flying in the air and sometimes hiding in the remaining forest to avoid detection.

”Is this really necessary?” Bai Xuan felt extremely helpless.

Finally, Bai Xuan flew into the neighboring country and breathed a sigh of relief.

”Good thing I fly fast, or I would have been caught by them.”

Bai Xuan suffered some superficial injuries and lost many feathers. This was all thanks to his Divine Sense Perception, which helped him dodge most of the damage.

After the fighter jets finished bombing, rockets from afar followed closely behind, bombing again.

The lethality of carpet bombing was immense. Currently, no Mutated Creature could withstand such an attack. They either had to hide or flee to have a chance at survival.

Most Mutated Creatures didn’t understand the situation and didn’t know what those things were, eventually being bombed to death out of curiosity.

Some managed to survive by luck, but they were few. These would be part of the main force for restoring the mountain range in the future.

The once vibrant mountain range was now a mess, a sorry sight. The ground was riddled with holes, and trees were bombed until not even their roots remained.

It was terrifying. Looking at the scene before him, Bai Xuan shuddered:

”I was right; the mountain range is not suitable for survival.”

He had run fast; otherwise, he would have been blown to bits.

...

At the same time, Mother Tiger and Hu Da also arrived here.

Their harvest this time was bountiful: dozens of Low-Grade Spirit Stones and three Mid-Grade Spirit Stones, enough for them to absorb for a long time.

”This... what on earth happened?!”

Seeing the scene before him, Hu Da’s fur stood on end, his eyes revealing terror. If he had stayed in the Daxing Mountain Range, he would have surely been blown to pieces!

”Thankfully, we escaped.” Mother Tiger’s fur also stood on end, and she felt fortunate.

”This is the work of humans,” Bai Xuan replied after a moment of silence.

”Humans actually possess such power?!”

Hu Da’s jaw practically dropped in shock; the strength of humans far exceeded his imagination, and their ruthlessness far surpassed theirs!

They bombed without hesitation, leaving the entire mountain range unrecognizable.

”Our understanding of humans is still very limited. For now, it’s best not to provoke them.” Mother Tiger spoke her mind.

”Well said. We are no match for humans right now. If we have to endure, then so be it. It’s better than being killed. As long as we’re alive, everything is possible in the future.”

Bai Xuan nodded slightly, agreeing with Mother Tiger.

The aura recovery had only entered its second stage; who could say for sure what the future held? A battle between humans and Mutated Creatures was inevitable. This war would determine future development and even survival.

It was possible that Dragon Country would allocate an area for Mutated Creatures to live, sign an agreement, and set a boundary line so they could coexist peacefully for a while.

Or, ferocious beasts might be raised like in cultivation novels, where demonic beasts stay in one place and become a location for cultivators to kill monsters and level up.

It was also possible that the opposite would happen—humans being raised.

What the future would be like depended on the development of both sides. Do ferocious beasts have a leader? If they only kill each other, the situation will be difficult. If there’s a leader who can unite the demonic beasts, they could launch a beast tide.

After all, there’s strength in numbers.

Bai Xuan didn’t know how it would end. Now, he could only do his best to improve his strength to be qualified to survive in the future.

Survival of the fittest, the law of the jungle—it would only get more cruel in the future.

”Why wasn’t this side harmed?” Hu Da asked, puzzled.

”It’s a matter of sovereignty. Bombing this side could easily cause dissatisfaction or even war, so they didn’t. To put it simply, it’s like another powerful predator entering your territory.” Bai Xuan explained.

”Then why doesn’t the country here bomb?” Hu Da continued to ask.

”Maybe because it’s sparsely populated; I’m not entirely sure.”

The reasons were complex and couldn’t be explained quickly. Furthermore, Bai Xuan wasn’t from Bear Country, so he didn’t know exactly what they were thinking.

It was also possible that they couldn’t handle the situation in the west and had no energy to manage the Far East region.

The Far East region had an extremely cold environment and was vast. For various reasons, it hadn’t been bombed for the time being.

Bear Country has the most nuclear weapons in the world. If pushed too far, it was possible they’d level the entire Far East.

But currently, things were still within a controllable range, so it was unlikely. nuclear weapons couldn’t be used casually, so for now, there was a high probability they wouldn’t be used.
