My Alleged Husband

Chapter 191: Chapter 174: Request_1

Ran Zhihan had just gotten on the plane when Zhang Yichen called Xiao Wei. He wanted Xiao Wei to look out for Ran Zhihan in the United States. He didn’t want the girl he loved to suffer any hardships abroad, so he was prepared to plead with his uncle.

Xiao Wei saw that his favorite nephew was calling and thought that Zhang Yichen had finally come to his senses.

”Yichen, what made you suddenly think to call your uncle? Have you taken your uncle’s advice to heart and are ready to make amends with your parents?”

”Uncle, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but that’s not why I’m calling you today. I’m not calling to tell you I want to forgive my parents. I just hope that you can pay a little more attention to someone in the United States for me. She’s the girl I’ve been searching for all this time, and I plan to marry her in the future. I hope you can help her out while she’s in the United States, as she’ll soon be considered your nephew’s wife!”

Xiao Wei was stunned and automatically blurted out, ”Do your parents know about this huge decision to get married?”

”I’ve already said I don’t want you to mention those two strangers to me ever again. This matter has nothing to do with them. Even when my children are born, it will have nothing to do with them. They are no longer part of the Zhang Family; they are neither members of the Zhang Family any longer, nor are they my parents. I hope you can understand that. They completely left me behind when they abandoned me. I will never forgive them in my lifetime. They will never step foot in the Zhang family home again. I’ve made it very clear to my grandfather already: it’s either them or me. If he chooses to bring them back into the Zhang Family, then he loses me as a grandson. Whom do you think my grandfather will choose between me and his son?”

”Do you really think this is the right thing to do? They are your parents, after all. Everyone makes mistakes, no one’s perfect. You’ve studied the Book of Sages for twenty years; how can you bear to abandon your parents?” Xiao Wei made one last attempt to persuade Zhang Yichen, but if it was unheeded, he would have no choice but to give up...

”Haha, Book of Sages... Even though I’ve studied it for many years, I’ve also learned a principle: if you abandon me, then don’t ever come back to me in this lifetime. Since you’ve chosen to abandon me, why come back and cause me a second heartache? If they had simply abandoned me and never come back, I might not hate them as much. But now, they return seeking something from me, aiming to hurt me a second time. Why should I forgive them? Such a mother, such a father—don’t you think they’re extremely cruel? I am their biological son, yet they have never regarded me as their son. To them, I was just a burden they could discard at will and only remember to comfort when they needed something. Do you think I need such parents?”

”I don’t know how to make you see reason. You are stuck in a misconception. You believe that your parents are back just to hurt you a second time. I want to ask you, if they really wanted to inflict more pain, why didn’t they come back ten years ago? Why wait until now? Don’t you think your current thoughts are a bit too extreme? You’re an economic emperor, your business spans the globe, so why can’t you make room in your heart for your parents?” Xiao Wei couldn’t understand why Zhang Yichen harbored such deep hatred for Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian.

”You’re wrong, it’s not that I can’t accept my mom and dad; it’s just that I can’t accept those who abandon me. If anyone in this world abandons me, sorry, but I will make sure they never have a foothold in this world again, that they’ll never again find a place here. How do you like my revenge? Yes, I have now become an economic emperor, and who in this world can overpower me? Yet, I’ve never blacklisted them, because deep down, I still regard them as my mom and dad. But to forgive them, to forgive the hurt they caused me, that’s impossible!” Zhang Yichen said resolutely.

”All right, since you’ve made your decision, there’s no point in me saying more. Don’t worry, if that girl is indeed the one you’ve been looking for, then her character must be good. I will take good care of her in the United States. But as your uncle, I still hope that for the sake of your grandfather, your girlfriend, your future family, and your parents, you’ll consider not doing something that you might regret for a lifetime!”

”I understand, Uncle. Thank you for all that you’ve done for me. I know you’re still in contact with those two. Could you please relay a few words to them?”

”Tell me what you want to say!”

”I want you to tell them that since they chose to abandon me, they should not choose to come back. Since they chose to leave, they should not think of returning to the Zhang Family. Since they chose not to want their child, they should now stop using that child as an excuse, claiming how much they love their child. I also hope you can tell them that love for one’s child is not just spoken, but proven through actions. Actions prove everything. Without actions, who in this world would take any action? Who would succeed? Who would have a happy family?”

”I understand. What you’ve said makes sense, so let me also give you some words in return. A person, once he chooses hate, will never have love again; a person who forever targets those who abandoned him will never be happy in life, because a person who causes his mom and dad pain can only be a failed son! Happiness isn’t based on others’ pain; on the contrary, when others are happy, that’s when you realize that bringing happiness to others is also a joyful thing. When you see others saddened and crying over your decisions, you’ll understand that your decision wasn’t right, because it hurt those who love you the most. I don’t know whether I should say this or not, but ask yourself, has your grandfather been hoping every day since your parents left that they would come back to see him? He has borne the pain for so many years without contacting your parents, all for you. He saw his own son return here and yet didn’t allow his son back into the family home. All of this because he loves you. But if you let your grandfather, who has always cherished you, suffer because of your hatred towards your parents, do you think your heart will be at ease? That’s your grandfather, who cherished you for twenty years; twenty years, do you understand? Do you know how much your grandfather has loved you over these years?”

”I have to admit it; my grandfather has truly loved me these past years.”

”Exactly. So, you should consider your grandfather’s perspective and think about him. He gave up his own son for you; why can’t you temporarily set aside your pride for your grandfather? Indeed, self-respect is important for a person, but if one’s self-respect leads to hurting those dearly loved, the value of that self-respect becomes questionable. Maybe your uncle has said too much, but I still hope you’ll think it over— is what you’re doing really right?”

”I understand. I’ll think about it...”
