My Alleged Husband

Chapter 190: Chapter 173 Going Abroad_1

”Grandfather, I’m truly grateful to you, I know you didn’t do this to look down on Zhihan’s degree. You just wanted her to be able to support me more in life. No matter what, you are always thinking of me. You’re already of such an advanced age, and yet I keep causing you worry. I’m not a filial grandson. In the future, I will surely let you live out your years in peace, never again letting you worry so much over me!” Yichen said to Old Master Zhang.

Old Master Zhang wondered if he could take this opportunity to leverage his grandson’s gratitude to bring his son and daughter-in-law back to the Zhang Family home.

”Yichen, Grandfather has something to say to you. Since you are so grateful to your grandfather, then I hope you can bring your parents back. I know you still hold resentment towards your mom and dad, but time has passed. Don’t dwell on the past anymore. Why bring up sad memories over and over again? It does no good for you, nor for us. You understand that even though your parents have been abroad all these years, they still care about you. Otherwise, they wouldn’t be constantly calling to check in on you. Sometimes, you should consider things from your parents’ perspective. They’re the reason you exist. They gave you life. Without them, there wouldn’t be a ’you’ here today, standing as the economic emperor of the world!”

Yichen became impatient, ”Grandfather, I believe I have made myself very clear on this matter. I’ve told you, I will never forgive my mom and dad in this lifetime. A man must keep his word. If you truly wish for my parents to come back and stay by your side, I cannot agree. Instead, I’ll choose to move out. May I? I’ll leave this house for you, my mom and dad to live in. No, I spoke wrong, this house was never mine to begin with, it was already here when I was born. I will work hard to build a more beautiful future for myself with my own efforts. So, if you truly wish for my parents to return, just tell me straight, without considering my feelings. As soon as you ask, I will agree, but I will not forgive them, because the hurt they inflicted is something I can never heal in this lifetime!”

Old Master Zhang looked at Yichen growing impatient with his words, feeling helpless in his heart, he said, ”Yichen, why can’t you understand after all I’ve said? Don’t I just hope you can restore your relationship with your mom and dad? Don’t you wish for your mom and dad to come back? Don’t tell Grandfather that you never thought about your parents coming back to be with you. I raised you myself, how could I not know what you’re thinking? Although you say you hate your parents, deep down you still care for them. You just don’t know how to express that love. You’re unsure whether or not you should forgive them because they abandoned you. But just because of that, are you going to give up on your mom and dad? Their love for you is real. There truly are no parents in the world who do not love their child!”

”Grandpa, let me put it this way, if you really want my mom and dad to come back that much, then you’re going to lose me as a grandson. I’m not asking you to choose between me and my parents, I just hope you can understand that the relationship between me and my mom and dad is beyond repair. The moment they abandoned me, it sealed our fate like this. Yes, I admit, many people have advised me to consider things from my parents’ perspective, but do you know? When they abandoned me, why didn’t they put themselves in my shoes, not even a bit? If they’d considered my feelings, we wouldn’t have all these issues today, do you understand? For years, I’ve been hoping that my mom and dad could come back when I needed them most. When I was seriously injured during training in the mountains, as I looked up at the sky with tears swirling in my eyes, how much I wished my mom and dad could hug me from behind and say, ’Child, don’t be afraid, mom and dad will always stand by your side to protect you.’ But you know what? When I bowed my head, there was no one by my side. Where were my mom and dad then? They were abroad, living it up, never sparing a thought for their own son’s dire plight. Do you think I should forgive such parents unconditionally? Why should I? I wasn’t raised by them. They only gave me life, nothing more. So now they shouldn’t come back telling me how much they love me because that kind of love is fake, and I’d rather not have such insincere love. To me, it’s simply unnecessary. Ever since the day I became a financial titan, there has been an abundance of insincere love. If I wanted that kind of love, I could get it anytime, but I don’t care for it!”

”Alright, perhaps I’ve been meddling too much. But I still hope you understand, your mom and dad never wanted to abandon you from the depths of their hearts. They will always be there for you. I won’t be around for many more years because of my age, but your mom and dad are still young. You will still need the companionship and support of family. Do you think I’m right in saying so?”

”Grandpa, you’re wrong. Even if I hit rock bottom and faced a dead end, I would absolutely never lower my head to ask for their help. To do so would be a profound shame from the depths of my heart. Although it may sound a bit excessive and heartbreaking, and hard for others to accept, this is the real me. I won’t change my true self for anyone else, not even the person I love the most. If there’s nothing else, I’ll go now to take Zhihan to the airport. I want her to study in the United States and then, when she comes back, I plan to marry her. Oh, and by the way, Grandpa, I hope you won’t inform my mom and dad about our marriage because I don’t want the people who abandoned me to attend my wedding; it would be too embarrassing.”

Having said that, Zhang Yichen took Ran Zhihan and left. He dropped her off at the airport, then turned around and said to Ran Zhihan, ”Sister, I know your heart is aggrieved, but I also know you’re struggling. You’ve been torn between hating and accepting your mom and dad, unsure of how to choose. I don’t know if it’s my place to say this, but sometimes, you should consider things from an adult’s perspective. Your parents might have been selfish to abandon you for freedom in the past, but if they have chosen to return, it shows that they do have you in their hearts. To know one’s wrongs and change is most admirable. Why dwell on the unhappy past? Just be happy. I don’t want you to be unhappy because of your parents. I’m about to board my plane. Brother, wait for me. Just a few years and I’ll be back, and we can spend our lives together. I hope during this time you can look after my mom and dad for me. Thank you, my dear brother...”

After Ran Zhihan finished speaking, she boarded the plane...
