My Alleged Husband

Chapter 168: Chapter 152: An Eye-Opening Experience_1

Li Jiayuan followed Xiao Wei into the house in the United States, and she admired how perfect the layout of the house was. Even though Xiao Wei had made achievements in the United States, she didn’t think he would have such a large house. This was no ordinary house; it was practically paradise. Such a large house could accommodate ten children easily. As this thought crossed her mind, she began to wonder, ”Could it be that Xiao Wei had prepared this all along? Does he really want to have several more children with me? Although it’s a good thing, having so many children is truly troublesome. Kids nowadays are not easy to raise!”

Xiao Wei first took Li Haixiao to his prepared room and said to him, ”Dad, this is your room. I hope you can live here happily. If you have any issues, you can talk to me directly. Then this will be your independent room. If there’s anything about the layout that you’re not satisfied with, you can tell me, and I’ll help you change it.”

Looking at such a large house and the room’s decor, so grand and beautiful, Li Haixiao had nothing to criticize. He said to Xiao Wei, ”Xiao Wei, I was wrong about the past, and I hope you don’t take it to heart. I think this house is very good. Besides, Nian Jun is with me. Even if it weren’t good, it wouldn’t matter. The house is genuinely beautiful, and I don’t need to bother you with any changes. It would be too much trouble.”

”Alright, as long as you like it, you’ll live here from now on. I’ll take Jiayuan to see our room now, is that okay?”

Xiao Wei felt that if Li Haixiao, an elder, could apologize to him, he had no need to dwell on the past. He believed he should be more magnanimous. Why bother with petty details? Hence, his attitude toward Li Haixiao improved.

Li Haixiao wondered if he was hallucinating. How could Xiao Wei ask for his opinion? He responded, ”Alright, then take Jiayuan to your room to have a look. I’m feeling a bit tired and would like to rest. Can I keep Nian Jun here with me for now?”

”Of course, now Dad will be able to help take care of Nian Jun!”

After Xiao Wei spoke, he turned and walked out, closing the door behind Li Haixiao. Inside the room, Li Haixiao muttered to himself while speaking to Nian Jun, ”Nian Jun, your dad is really impressive. A year ago, he had nothing, was penniless, but today, a year later, he has achieved so much. The price of this house in the United States is not low. It seems he has truly become successful. I underestimated him in the past. You should honor your father well in the future!”

Nian Jun couldn’t understand what Li Haixiao was saying to him. He only knew the house was big and beautiful, and he kept laughing. Seeing Nian Jun laugh so joyfully, Li Haixiao also started laughing heartily. The two of them began to frolic and romp in the room, just like children running in the fields, filled with boundless joy.

Standing outside the room, Xiao Wei listened to the laughter inside and felt a sense of accomplishment. Making a loved one happy was so simple.

Xiao Wei walked into the living room and took Li Jiayuan to their bedroom, saying to her, ”My dear wife, this is our room. I hope you can invoke the authority of the lady of the house and give it a good cleanup.”

When Li Jiayuan heard Xiao Wei say ”invoke the authority of the lady of the house,” she was quite pleased. But when she heard, ”give it a good cleanup,” she became unhappy. It seemed he wanted her to clean the room. She glared at Xiao Wei, who knew he had misspoken. He quickly apologized to Li Jiayuan, ”I’m sorry, dear; it was a slip of the tongue, I didn’t mean it. How could I have you clean? I’ll take care of the household chores in the future, and you just live happily. You’ll spend the money I earn, okay?”

”That’s not a bad thing to say. Since your apology is so sincere, I won’t hold it against you. You can take over the household chores from now on, and I will just focus on getting ready to have a few more babies with you. How does that sound?”

Xiao Wei was taken aback by Li Jiayuan’s words. He couldn’t come back to his senses for a long time, and in his mind, he went over her words again and again. ”Have a few more children? A few more children?” Then it dawned on him, and he exclaimed to Li Jiayuan, ”Darling, you aren’t tricking me, are you? You mean you’ve agreed to have a few more children with me, to give Nian Jun some more little brothers or sisters?”

Seeing how overjoyed Xiao Wei was, Li Jiayuan just couldn’t bring herself to say that she intended to reject him. She nodded vigorously at Xiao Wei, which made him even happier. Watching Xiao Wei’s joy, all because of her simple words, she suddenly realized that interactions between family members didn’t have to be so troublesome or hard after all. In fact, just a few plain words or a short sentence could bring immense joy to another person. She wondered why she hadn’t understood this before. If she had known how much this meant, she wouldn’t have had all those explosive rows with Xiao Wei. Maybe this is what they mean by ’a setback is a setup for a comeback’!

”Darling, in truth, I don’t have a particularly strong demand for you to have more children for me. It’s just that I feel very guilty for not being by your side when you were giving birth to Nian Jun. So, I thought that I must be with you next time, taking care of you till you safely deliver the baby. Only then can I alleviate the guilt I feel in my heart.”

Hearing Xiao Wei’s words, Li Jiayuan’s eyes welled up. How did she have the good fortune to marry such a wonderful man like Xiao Wei? She felt that her life was complete with no regrets left. She said to Xiao Wei, ”Husband, thank you for the happiness you bring me. Even though you weren’t with me and I had a tough time, I still love you. If I didn’t love you, I wouldn’t have come to the United States with you, nor would I have given birth to Nian Jun. Did you know? People say Nian Jun looks a lot like you, and I think so too, especially his eyes and his eyebrows, they’re just like his father inherited your great genes.”

Upon hearing Li Jiayuan’s words, Xiao Wei puffed out his chest with pride and said to Li Jiayuan, ”Of course, who else but me could be his dad? When our daughter is born, she’s definitely going to inherit your strong genes and look almost identical to you. Then, I’ll be calling her little Jiayuan in the future!”

”That sounds great, but Xiao Wei, I wanted to ask you, the market price for this house in the United States isn’t cheap. How did you manage to buy it?”

Li Haixiao was also curious about this. With property prices so high in the United States and the size of the house, how could Xiao Wei possibly afford it in just one year of business development?

Xiao Wei chuckled and told Li Jiayuan, ”Don’t worry, your husband didn’t buy this house illegally. I had my eye on this one from the day before my company opened. My mercenary brothers pooled their money together to buy this house for me. And later, when my company achieved such success, making millions in dividends in one year, they transferred the house entirely to me. Now you understand why we have such a big house, right?”

Li Jiayuan nodded, seemingly understanding. She said to Xiao Wei, ”Then we’ll have to properly thank your brothers in the future.”

”There’s no need to thank them. Do you know what they said? They want our son to acknowledge them as godfathers!”

Li Jiayuan couldn’t help but laugh when she heard this. She thought it was quite good to have such wealthy godfathers. Wouldn’t her son be incredibly blessed? So without a second thought, she agreed to it.
