My Alleged Husband

Zhang Yichen saw that Old Master Zhang remained silent, and he knew that his words had moved the old man. He continued to address Old Master Zhang, ”Grandpa, even though she advised me not to hate my mom and dad, I still can’t help but feel the urge to hate them. I really don’t understand how a parent could bear to abandon their child, who had just turned one year old. I don’t understand, did my birth become some sort of obstacle between them? Why were they so ruthless towards me? How could they have come to the decision to abandon me so resolutely? Did it not pain their hearts as parents to see me suffer day and night? I really want to know, are they truly my mom and dad? Parents like them are truly rare in this world. Let me put it this way, my hatred for my mom and dad may never disappear in this lifetime, because of their departure, I’ve endured so much cold indifference from others. That’s why I must become an economic emperor. I want to make them realize what a great loss they’ve caused by abandoning me. I want to make them understand that the hatred I harbor for them in this lifetime is forged by their own hands. This hatred will never sleep, and it will always exist, absolutely unchanging due to any circumstances!”

The more Zhang Yichen spoke, the more intense he became, the more indignant. He really couldn’t accept it—how could anyone willingly forgive parents who so easily cast them aside? There are hardly any people in the world who could go to such lengths, especially a child who needs the love of a mother and father. Yet his parents left him, perhaps for him, it was impossible to forgive his parents in this lifetime.

Elder Zhang silently wiped away an imaginary sweat for Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing upon hearing his grandson’s words. Although he also resented the unfeeling actions of Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing, what could he say? After all, that was his son. Which father doesn’t wish for his son to always be by his side? Though he didn’t say it, in his heart, he had already forgiven the actions of Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing. He was always worried in his heart, wanting to see Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing, but circumstances did not permit it.

Elder Zhang didn’t know how to persuade his grandson. Maybe, he really didn’t comprehend the thinking of the younger generation. Despite the child in front of him being only ten, his mentality had already become as stable as that of an adult. Could it really be that having experienced so much hardship and adversity led to this outcome?

”Child, listen to your grandpa,” Elder Zhang said, ”Your mom and dad didn’t stop loving you, and they didn’t truly intend to abandon you. In their hearts, you are always their beloved son. You shouldn’t hate them. You should understand that for parents, being hated by their offspring is an incredibly painful wound. Do you have the heart to let your mom and dad suffer such sorrow over your hatred? Do you have the heart to see them pine away in grief over you? I believe you wouldn’t want to witness such a day, because deep down you love your mom and dad more!”

Old Master Zhang thought his advice would at least reduce the extent of Yichen’s hatred for his parents, but he did not expect Yichen’s response to leave him at a loss for words.

”Grandpa, I know you say these things for my sake, and I also know you speak out of consideration for my mom and dad. You have your biases because you’ve already forgiven my parents in your heart. But in my heart, I can’t forgive them. Because of their ruthlessness, they could ignore even my existence. You tell me not to hate them, that they don’t lack love for me. Then let me ask you, if they really loved me, why couldn’t they stay with me for one more day, even just one day that would have made me happy? But they didn’t even give me that one day. Do you think that is still love? I indeed thought about not hating them, but my heart can’t do it. Every time I think about how I’ve spent the past ten years, how difficult it has been, other kids are nurtured in their infancy, but what about me? At two, I started devilish training, and for what? Is it not to become an economic emperor and take revenge on them later? I will prove to everyone who looked down on me that they will have to bow down at my feet...” The hate in Zhang Yichen’s eyes grew denser, and Elder Zhang could see the magnitude of the child’s hatred, choosing to remain silent. He turned and left, but as he turned away, a phone call came in, making him extremely anxious.
