My Alleged Husband

Chapter 183: Chapter 166 What can I do for you?_1

”Hello, may I ask who is speaking?” Zhang Yichen answered the phone and said.

Upon hearing her own son’s voice, Xia Jing was overrun with emotion, suddenly at a loss for how to speak to her child. She softly said, ”My child, I am Xia Jing, your mother. Do you remember me?”

Zhang Yichen paused upon hearing these words. He then spoke calmly, ”Oh, my mother, I’m sorry, ma’am, but you must be mistaken. My mother passed away when I was just one month old. I don’t have a mother, and I don’t know why you’re pretending to be her. I’m not sure what you want or what your purpose is. If you are in need of money, then I’m sorry to say, I’m just a ten-year-old child with not a penny to my name. I have no money to give you, so don’t think about trying to extort me. If you do this again, I will have no choice but to call the police and report you for harassing me!”

Xia Jing’s heart ached as she heard her own child declare that she had died, almost ten years ago, no less. It was unbearable, but what could she do? This was her child’s hatred for her. Trembling, she said to Zhang Yichen, ”My son, please don’t talk to your mother like this, alright? I am your mother, how can you speak to me with such tone?”

”Oh, my mother,” he said, his tone sardonic, ”Ma’am, may I ask, did you ever think of me as your son, you as my mother, when you abandoned me ten years ago for your freedom? Did you ever think that I would hate you ten years later, a hate that might last a lifetime, forever unending? Also, did you ever consider back then how much harm your actions would cause your child? Maybe you never thought about it. Since you never considered any of this from my perspective, not a single issue, then please don’t tell me ten years later, today, that you are my mother. A mother like you, I can’t bear the love you claim to have for me. Don’t tell me that you left me out of love, because I have never seen such a kind of maternal love in this world, where a mother leaves her own child. Do you think that is still love?”

Xia Jing wept uncontrollably, and she said to Zhang Yichen, ”My child, can you forgive your mother, please? Mom knows she was wrong...”

”I’m sorry, but we have no relationship whatsoever. We’ve never known each other, let alone met. So where does this idea of forgiveness come from? I reckon you must be quite happy with your life now, having abandoned your own child and lived a carefree life for a whole ten years, traveling all around the world. Aren’t you living a joyful life? When you left, my grandpa once said that the moment you stepped out of the Zhang family’s door, you would never be allowed to set foot in it again, and all ties with me were severed. But at that time, did you ever think of me? You walked out of the Zhang family’s door so calmly, so why are you seeking my forgiveness now? I feel there’s no need for us to discuss the difference between forgiveness and non-forgiveness here, because as far as I’m concerned, you and I have nothing to do with each other. We are strangers, meeting without knowing each other, and even if we did know each other, we would still be unrelated, unable to greet each other!”

”My child, it was Mom’s mistake in the past. I should not have abandoned you for my own selfish reasons, to fulfill my own desires. I have realized what pain leaving one’s own child causes. Can you forgive me? When I left you, I already regretted it in my heart, but I couldn’t turn back. Once I made my choice, I had to finish the path I chose, even if I had to crawl. I didn’t want to be a quitter. I truly know I was wrong now. Please forgive me. From now on, let Mom stay by your side, to take care of you, cherish you, protect you, okay?”

”Madam, I believe I have made myself very clear just now. I no longer have a mother or father in this life. When my parents abandoned me ten years ago, they left me for good. In the past ten years, my heart has not felt a single drop of love from my parents. So, I hope you won’t say anything to me here. Their decision to leave you was a spur-of-the-moment choice, a decision they made on a whim. I hope you won’t try to explain anything to me, because to explain is to cover up, and to cover up is to reveal the truth. Since you’ve done these things, they cannot be changed, do you understand? There’s a saying: because there is a ’because,’ therefore there is a ’therefore.’ Since it’s already a ’since,’ why bother saying ’why bother’! Maybe you think the words I’m saying to you today really hurt you as a mother. But have you ever considered how much damage your decision has caused your son? Do you know what my classmates used to say about me? They said I was a child no parents wanted. Do you know how much that hurt me, how much I wished my parents would suddenly appear like superheroes and hug me, saying, ’I love you. Mom and Dad haven’t left you.’ But every time my fantasy failed, and disappointment was all I got. Do you know that at the age of two, I started undergoing devilish training? Grandpa wanted to train me into a business emperor, and I willingly wanted to be that emperor because I wanted to make those who abandoned me pay a heavy price. Do you know? When Grandpa tried to persuade me at the time, he told me not to hate my parents, but I couldn’t do it. Whenever I think of how my parents abandoned me, leaving me all alone to bear ten years of loneliness, although Grandpa loved me very much and was willing to give up everything for me for those ten years, it still wasn’t paternal love, let alone maternal love. For a child, lacking parental love is a very sad thing. Yet my parents turned this sad matter into a reality for me. They never thought that one day I would hate them so deeply that I could never rid myself of it for the rest of my life. Don’t feel that I’m saying these things to upset you today. These words come from the bottom of my heart because I feel that the greatest counterattack a child can have against their own parents is to meet in the future but not recognize each other; to recognize each other, yet deny the recognition; as if strangers, completely indifferent. That feeling, for someone who is a parent, is heart-wrenching and unforgettable. I want my parents to endure such pain. I want to return, in tenfold, a hundredfold, a thousandfold, the pain they inflicted on me, to make them realize how big a loss abandoning me was. I will also become an economic emperor, with my business and companies spread all over the world. I want to remind them all the time that it’s their abandonment that made me grow, and it is also because of their abandonment that I achieved my dream of becoming an emperor. I want to make them understand that everything can be discarded, but family and kinship should never be!”

Xia Jing just cried there, saying nothing.

Zhang Yichen continued, ”Madam, I think I’ve made myself quite clear. I hope I will never receive any calls from you again. I don’t want you to disturb the life of me and my grandpa. Without you, my grandpa and I are still very happy. Indeed, I did have the love of parents for ten years, but I’ve been able to achieve everything on my own, to make a success of my life. I will make you understand how big a loss losing me is for you. Perhaps in your hearts, losing me is just losing an ordinary child, and that’s not a problem. But for me, losing you means I have already lost my parents. I don’t need your return, I don’t need your love anymore. From now on, we are strangers when we meet. Do not acknowledge me, and I will not acknowledge you—for a lifetime. You no longer have a place in the Zhang family, so stop calling me. Every call from you reminds me that I am an orphan abandoned by my parents, which only makes me hate you more. My hatred for you will not disappear in this lifetime, so don’t make me hate you even more.”

After Zhang Yichen hung up the phone, he was afraid that if he went on talking, he would not be able to stop thinking about the fact that he had been abandoned for ten years!
