My Alleged Husband

Chapter 199: Chapter 180 Yichen, Don’t be Like This!_1

Zhang Zhentian felt that maybe he spoke too harshly today. Perhaps Xia Jing didn’t mean any harm; she simply couldn’t accept that her son would get married without even notifying her, his mother? It was just a feeling of imbalance in her heart. He too had received the news but had not been invited, and it didn’t sit well with him. Since that was the case, why should he expect Xia Jing to happily accept a reality that even he was reluctant to accept? He thought about it and realized he was wrong; he should apologize to Xia Jing.

”Wife, I was too impulsive about this. Don’t be angry, and don’t take it to heart. I just couldn’t accept that our son got married without inviting me, his father. I know your heart is in pain too. Our son got married and didn’t invite us, as his elders - that would be hard for anyone to bear. I shouldn’t have taken out my own unhappiness on you and vented my anger on you. I hope you can be magnanimous and let bygones be bygones, so we can continue to live happily. Okay? I believe that as long as we try, there will come a day when our child will forgive us. From now on, you should also stop causing trouble for his girlfriend. Maybe she’s not as bad as you think, and she truly loves our son. You agree, right?”

”Zhang Zhentian, I’m laying it out for you today; no matter what kind of person our son’s girlfriend is, I absolutely won’t allow her to be with my son. She’s a commoner’s daughter; what gives her the right to be with a rich man’s son? A commoner’s daughter – what right does she have to date a wealthy young master? Let alone the fact that he’s an economic titan on a global scale. Do you think someone like her, a plain daughter of the common people, is worthy of our son?” Xia Jing said to Zhang Zhentian, her emotions running high.

Zhang Zhentian didn’t know what to say upon hearing these words from Xia Jing. Why, even now, did this woman before him refuse to repent and insist on wreaking havoc? Did she need to completely alienate him from his son before she would be satisfied?

”Xia Jing, Xia Jing, why can’t you understand? Can’t you see how much our son cares for this girl? If you happily accept this girl, maybe your son will be willing to accept you as his mother. Why wouldn’t you want that? Do you really want to make your son hate you for life, to see you as an enemy? That can’t be what you want. Why can’t you consider things from your son’s perspective? Or can’t you consider them from my point of view, think about how much I want to acknowledge my son?”

”Let me tell you, even if my son doesn’t recognize me as his mother or hates me for life, I will never allow a commoner’s daughter to drag down my son’s life. My son deserves to be an outstanding person. He deserves the daughters of wealthy families, not an ordinary commoner’s daughter, someone who has never even been educated. Do you think she’s worthy?”

”Xia Jing, you’re being completely unreasonable...”

After saying that, Zhang Zhentian turned and walked away.

After Xia Jing left and returned home, Li Jiayuan called Zhang Yichen. Zhang Yichen told Li Jiayuan that he knew the whole story and thanked Li Jiayuan for standing up for his girlfriend. Then Ran Zhihan called Zhang Zhentian.

”Hello, Zhihan, what made you think of calling me? Do you miss me?” Zhang Yichen said with a laugh.

Ran Zhihan said, ”Yichen, I don’t know how to say this to you, but can I share my thoughts with you about what happened today?”

”Of course, you speak!”

”Regarding the incident today, I admit I’m not comfortable with it. I didn’t do anything, so why should I receive a humiliation? Why should I be subjected to a barrage of insults? Is a commoner’s daughter really not a match for a rich man’s son? No, I don’t think so. Although I’m upset, I can still understand your mother’s deep concern. She’s just too worried about what you do. We’re getting married, you didn’t tell her, and you didn’t invite her – naturally, as a mother, she would feel upset. Yichen, maybe the words I’m going to say next will make you uncomfortable, but I hope you can still seriously consider them, okay?”
