My Alleged Husband

Chapter 186: Chapter 169 Xia Jing Returns to the Country!_1

Zhang Yichen finally saw the girl he had been eagerly waiting for ten years. His heart was filled with excitement, and at that moment, he made up his mind that today he would bring this girl in front of him to his home to meet his grandfather. He wanted to tell his grandfather that the girl he intended to marry in this lifetime was the one before him, and he wouldn’t marry anyone else. However, he didn’t know that when he got home, before he could speak, his grandfather revealed a shocking piece of news—his parents had returned to the country!

”Grandpa, I’ve come back to share some good news with you. Do you have time now?”

”Yichen, there are some things I need to tell you first. Your parents returned to the country today. They said they were coming back to the house this afternoon to see you. Do you want to meet them or not?” Old Master Zhang asked.

Upon hearing this, Zhang Yichen felt uncomfortably surprised. He was stunned. What? His parents had come back? Was this some kind of joke? Twenty years had passed, he had grown up and become an economic tycoon. Now, at this time, his parents had returned. Could there be a reason for this?

”Grandpa, are you joking with me? My parents have come back? That’s not funny at all. Please don’t joke about such things with me!”

”Who’s joking with you? Your parents indeed have returned to the country. If you don’t believe it, you can check the flight schedules. Besides, with your abilities, checking flight schedules should be easy, right? What I want to know is, now that your parents have decided to return to the Zhang Family, what is your opinion on this?”

”My opinion? Let them return first. I will voice my opinion after they have arrived at the Zhang Family. I believe my decision will surely satisfy all of you!” Zhang Yichen said to Old Master Zhang, who was somewhat expectant. When he shared this news with Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian, they both believed that their son would surely forgive them...

Unfortunately, Old Master Zhang did not notice the anomaly in his grandson’s behavior.

An hour later, Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing arrived at the Zhang Family home. Zhang Yichen came downstairs, and upon seeing his child had grown so much, Zhang Zhentian was overjoyed. He walked briskly towards Zhang Yichen and embraced him, whispering softly, ”My child, my son, my dearest son, do you know how much your father has missed you over these twenty years? Today, your father finally has the chance to hold you in his arms again. Are you happy?”

Zhang Yichen remained silent. Xia Jing approached him and said, ”Son, I’m your mother. We spoke on the phone ten years ago. I still remember the tone of your voice from that call. Stop being mad at your mother. I have come back now, and I will never leave you again. Please forgive me, my son. Trust that from now on, I will always be by your side!”

...

After half an hour of talking back and forth, Zhang Yichen finally spoke up.

”Oh, father, mother?”

”That’s right!” Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing both exclaimed in unison.

”I’m sorry, but, ma’am, sir, are you perhaps mistaken? My last name is Zhang, but I am not your son, and I have no relation to you. You must be curious why I agreed to let grandfather allow you two to return to the Zhang family, to then come here and hear my decision, right?” Zhang Yichen asked.

Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian nodded and said, ”Isn’t it because you forgave us?”

Zhang Yichen scoffed a few times, ”Who told you that I have forgiven you? My reason for inviting you back to the Zhang family today is to make a major decision known to you. Xia Jing, Zhang Zhentian, you surely haven’t forgotten the time when you abandoned me, have you? It happened right in this house, where you left your son who wasn’t even a year old. At that time, were you not overjoyed at the thought of finally being free to pursue your own lives? Did you ever consider the harm your departure would cause your son? Did you ever think that your son would become the world’s greatest economic emperor, whose business would span the globe? Since you were so heartless in leaving me behind, do not come back to the Zhang family. Furthermore, grandfather, you said so yourself—you had already driven my parents out of the Zhang family and forbade them from ever stepping foot inside again. I hope you keep the promise you made back then, to not be inconsistent and unreliable. I have already told you, ’A man without trust is nothing at all.’ I don’t want you to be teaching me how to be a trustworthy person when you can’t adhere to the most basic attitude required of one.”

”So did you actually forgive us or not?”

”I’m sorry, but there is no chance I will forgive you. Ten years ago, during our phone call, I made myself very clear—do not appear before me again; do not contact me in any way; I don’t want to know anything about you ever again. Your abandonment turned me into an orphan. It made me the butt of other people’s jokes. I do not want such parents; I don’t have such parents. I clearly stated ten years ago that my parents died when I was barely a month old. I am just an orphan. Do not come here pretending to be my parents—it won’t benefit you in any way, or else you will face legal consequences. Even if you are my biological parents, since you failed in your duties for twenty years, you should not come looking for me. Your presence only serves to remind me repeatedly of the fact that I was abandoned. It could shatter the happiness of the family I have now. Since you’ve already spent twenty years away, it wouldn’t matter to wander for a lifetime. Your return means nothing to me. If the purpose of your visit was to see me, now that you have, I hope you will never set foot in the Zhang family home again. Now please leave. This is my private residence and has nothing to do with you. If you refuse to leave, then I will have no choice but to call the police for trespassing. Don’t think me cruel—for what you did to a child not even a year old, what I do is nowhere near enough!”

”Child, but I am your biological parent. Can you really be so heartless and drive us out?”

”Don’t tell me you’re my biological parents. If you were, you wouldn’t have abandoned me. Since you have already left me, don’t come back now to embrace me, claiming how much you love me. Because the warmth you offer over a phone call can never compare to the reality of being there. If you’ve neglected twenty years of companionship with me, why bother telling me now about this fleeting love?”

”Grandfather, I hope you will stop letting these people who have nothing to do with our family into our home. It bothers me. If you don’t want me to move out, then please don’t do this. That’s all I have to say. I will never forgive these two people in this lifetime. If in the future you still wish to let them return here, I wouldn’t mind leaving this place for the three of you to live in...”

After Zhang Yichen said this, he had the security guards escort Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing out, but Old Master Zhang said nothing. He didn’t want to lose his grandson. Faced with a choice between his son and his grandson, he chose his grandson!
