My Alleged Husband

Chapter 194: Chapter 176: The Future Mother-in-law is Here! _1

The four of them returned to Lei Jian’s house, and as soon as they got home, Li Jiayuan had already finished cooking and was waiting at the door. She was thrilled to see her nephew’s girlfriend, praising his good taste. Looking at the girl, so radiant and evidently kind-hearted, she thought if only her own son could find such a daughter-in-law, she would have no more regrets in life.

When Lei Jian saw his mother waiting at the door, his heart swelled with joy. Stepping out of the car, he immediately called out to Li Jiayuan, ”Mom, I’m back! Look, I’ve brought brother’s girlfriend too, isn’t she adorable? When I first saw her at the airport, I was stunned; I didn’t expect such a cute girl could exist in the world. Ah, at that moment, I almost couldn’t resist claiming her for myself!”

The others present were stunned by his comment. What did he mean by claiming her for himself? If Zhang Yichen had heard that, they certainly wouldn’t be able to escape unscathed.

”Ahem, sorry, I was just kidding. I would never dream of taking my brother’s girlfriend!”

With that, everyone breathed a sigh of relief.

”Auntie, hello, my name is Ran Zhihan, I’m Zhang Yichen’s girlfriend. It’s a pleasure to meet you. I might be intruding on your life here in the future, so I hope you can forgive any inconvenience!” Ran Zhihan said politely, always smiling, which Li Jiayuan liked in a girl.

”No problem at all. No matter how long you wish to ’intrude,’ I welcome you, such an adorable girl. Honestly, I wish you could just stay and never leave!” Li Jiayuan said enthusiastically.

”Mom, don’t say too much now. Look, you’ve kept Zhihan standing at the door for so long. She’s a guest. Shouldn’t you, as the lady of the house, invite her in, make her some tea, let her sit and rest?” Lei Kai interjected.

”Yes, yes, you’re right. Look at me, completely forgetting my manners. Let’s go, quickly come inside. The food is all ready, waiting for you. Today, you’ll get to taste my cooking. My sons always say my food isn’t tasty. I want to see if, after you try it, you think it’s good!”

”Then I won’t be modest, Auntie. I definitely want to taste your cooking. I believe your food must be the best!” Ran Zhihan responded.

Li Jiayuan’s heart was warmed by the girl’s sweet words. Ah, why did she only have three sons? If she’d had a daughter too, to sweet-talk her every day, how wonderful that would be...

”How is it? Does it taste good?” Li Jiayuan asked eagerly.

”Auntie, your cooking is really good. I’ve never tasted food this delicious before. Thank you for today, allowing me to enjoy such scrumptious meals. I just feel bad for the trouble it caused you!”

The three brothers sitting there were dumbfounded; since when had their mother’s cooking become so delicious? Should they force themselves to try a bit? No, better not. They remembered the last few times—it had made them nauseous and even caused days of stomach upset. They truly didn’t understand why Zhihan would find their mom’s cooking tasty?

While they were enjoying their meal, Xia Jing knocked and came in. Seeing her son’s girlfriend also there upset her, and she began to mock Li Jiayuan, ”Sister, why didn’t you invite me to eat when you were cooking? And who is this girl? How come I’ve never seen her before?”

”Auntie, hello, my name is Ran Zhihan...”

”So you are Ran Zhihan. What, you don’t know who I am? Child, let me give you some advice—don’t overstep. Just mind your own business and don’t try to sow discord among others. You know, those who stir up trouble never end well. The relationship between my son and me does not need your comments or interference. Stay peacefully in the United States, don’t bother coming back. And if I hear you’re still in touch with my son, sorry, but don’t blame me if I’m not nice to your mom and dad!”
