My Alleged Husband

Chapter 165: Chapter 149: The Eve of Departure!_1

Xia Jing opened the door to see Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan standing at the entrance, holding things in their hands. She said to Li Jiayuan, ”You’re here, come in and have a seat!”

Li Jiayuan walked into Xia Jing’s living room with Xiao Wei’s hand in hers. She looked around and did not see Old Master Zhang or Xia Jing’s child at home. She asked Xia Jing, ”Elder Sister Xia, is my little nephew not at home? And where is Uncle?”

When Xia Jing heard Li Jiayuan say that, she sighed and said with a smile, ”You don’t say, these days I hardly ever get to hold him myself. His grandfather takes him out to play every day, and by the time they come back, he’s already asleep!”

Er... uh...

”Alright then, I wanted to hold him too. Sigh, looks like I’ll have to wait until next time!” Li Jiayuan said to Xia Jing with a sense of loss, while Xiao Wei also felt quite disappointed. Why was his luck so bad?

Xia Jing was quite curious. Hadn’t Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan just visited her home recently? Why were they here again today? Could they possibly miss her? She said to Li Jiayuan, ”Jiayuan, do you and Xiao Wei miss me that much? We just met a short while ago. If you were going to come today, why bring gifts!”

Li Jiayuan smiled and said to Xia Jing, ”Yes, Elder Sister Xia, I missed you and wanted to come see how you were. And Xiao Wei also wanted to see our little nephew, but we haven’t been able to catch a glimpse of him. Too bad we won’t get to see him today either.”

”It’s fine, if you can’t see him today you can come again in a few days. I would welcome you even if you visited every day. Maybe when you come tomorrow or the day after, he will be at home, right? Or the next time you come, just give me a call in advance, and I’ll have his dad keep him indoors so his grandfather won’t take him out. Then the two of you can see him, right?” Xia Jing said to Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei.

Li Jiayuan would have liked that, but she and Xiao Wei had already booked their tickets. They were leaving tomorrow. She shook her head and said to Xia Jing, ”Elder Sister Xia, I’m afraid we won’t be seeing each other for quite a long time after today!”

Xia Jing did not understand what Li Jiayuan meant and said to her, ”What do you mean? Are you leaving here to go to the United States?”

”Yes, Elder Sister Xia, we’re ready to go. We’re flying to the United States tomorrow. The main reason we came today was to see you and also to see our little nephew. Oh, by the way, have you given my little nephew a name yet?”

Hearing Li Jiayuan ask this, Xia Jing felt somewhat speechless. She had thought about giving her son a name, but Elder Zhang didn’t agree. He insisted on waiting until he was almost one year old before deciding. When the senior had spoken, could she really disobey?

”Don’t get me started on that. His grandfather wants to wait a while longer before deciding on his name, saying he hasn’t thought of a good one yet!” Xia Jing let out a long sigh and said to Li Jiayuan.

”Alright then, since it’s like that, there’s not much I can say. But Elder Sister Xia, when you do give my little nephew a name, remember to tell me. I may not have held him yet as his aunt, but I truly do love him!” Li Jiayuan whispered to Xia Jing.

”Alright, I’ve got it. Once I’ve decided on a name, I’ll definitely tell you. Are you reassured now?” Xia Jing said with a smile to Li Jiayuan, as Xiao Wei watched the close relationship between his elder sister and his wife. He had no idea if it was right or wrong to suddenly come back and take Jiayuan away, leaving Elder Sister Xia here on her own.

Xia Jing seemed to see through Xiao Wei’s thoughts and said leisurely to him, ”Then you have to treat Jiayuan well in the future; you can’t let her be sad! Also, once you go to the United States, you must remember to come back and visit me. Don’t forget you have relatives here; this is also your home!”

Li Jiayuan really hadn’t expected Xia Jing to still be considering her at such a time. She hugged Xia Jing and said, ”Elder Sister, thank you so much. Even now, you’re still thinking of me! Don’t worry, I will definitely treat Xiao Wei well!”

As soon as Li Jiayuan said this, Xia Jing gave her a sidelong glance. Li Jiayuan had said the same thing a year ago but ultimately failed to keep her promise. Rather than issuing an empty promise and giving others hope then disappointing them, it’s better not to say such things at all!

”You said the same thing a year ago, but in the end you still upset Xiao Wei so much that he left here heartbroken and went abroad alone. Now you’re saying it again; do you think I’ll easily believe you?” Xia Jing bluntly said to Li Jiayuan, who felt a bit awkward upon hearing it.

”Sister, what happened a year ago was really an accident. I’ve explained it to you. I didn’t truly want that cooperation deal; I was just blinded by greed at the time and couldn’t see clearly what I really wanted. That’s why I made such a foolish mistake. Haven’t I also suffered this past year? You’re sweet and loving with your husband every day, while I’ve had to sit alone at home in an empty room, staring at blank walls with no one to see. Do you know how lonely that is? I’ve really learned my lesson now. If I make Xiao Wei that sad again, I’ll end up alone once more!” Li Jiayuan said to Xia Jing, her eyes reddening.

Xia Jing sighed and replied to Li Jiayuan, ”You had better remember what you said today. Integrity is important in life. After all, a person doesn’t stand without trust, right? You have to think carefully before acting; don’t always wait until you’ve lost something to regret it. The world doesn’t always offer such good luck, that when you turn around, the other person will still be waiting there for you. Honestly, Xiao Wei has been truly good to you. You should cherish him instead of hurting him over and over. You must understand that in this vast world full of myriad relationships, finding someone who truly loves you is very difficult. Once missed, it may never return. I don’t want to see a repeat of last year’s events in another year’s time. If you fail to keep the promises you made today, I won’t hesitate to find someone to sabotage your relationship. Although that is highly unethical, I’d rather hurt you than let you hurt my dear brother!”

Hearing Xia Jing’s words, Li Jiayuan was stunned, realizing just how important Xiao Wei was to her.

”Sister, don’t worry! I really dare not do it again this time!”

Xiao Wei, moved by what Xia Jing said to Li Jiayuan, thought about how she was willing to do something so immoral for his sake. How could he let down Elder Sister Xia’s kindness? If he didn’t lead a good life with Li Jiayuan in the future, how would he be worthy of everything Elder Sister Xia had done for him?

”Elder Sister Xia, thank you for considering me so much. Don’t worry, I will definitely have a good life with Jiayuan in the future. When you have time, you should come to the United States and visit Jiayuan and me. I’ll always welcome you to my American home!” Xiao Wei looked at Xia Jing, his eyes reddening. Even as a man, he couldn’t control the emotions welling up inside him; no one had ever done so much for him in his entire life.

”Sure, when you have time, remember to come back and visit me too. Don’t go to the United States and forget about your elder sister!” Xia Jing joked with Xiao Wei.

She really didn’t want to let Xiao Wei go!
