My Alleged Husband

Chapter 185: Chapter 168: Economic Emperor!_1

Time passed in the blink of an eye, and before one knew it, a decade had gone by.

Zhang Yichen was already twenty years old. He had become an economic emperor, not letting his grandfather down. He had achieved his lifelong dream, and now all he anticipated was to smoothly take back the girl he loved. However, what he didn’t know was that when he returned to the place to look for that girl, she had moved away long ago, with no clue where she had gone. He was extremely anxious and sent many people to search for the girl’s voice, but the results were far from ideal. Until one day, he encountered a girl on the street. This girl was very delicate and was being bullied by a group of burly men. He hadn’t intended to intervene, but something inside him, like a rope, seemed to be pulling him toward her. He hurried over to the girl and said softly, ”Little sister, what are you doing here all by yourself? Are they bullying you?”

The girl felt this voice sounded so familiar. She remembered the little brother she had met in the valley ten years ago, who also called her little sister. Since then, no one else had called her that. At this moment, she wondered, could the man standing before her be the same little brother she had been missing all this time?

Zhang Yichen felt that the girl before him seemed familiar, yet he couldn’t place where this familiarity came from. He remembered that today was the first time he had met this girl, so why did he have this impression? He looked at the girl before him, kept looking, and the girl also kept staring at him. They just stood there, silently staring at each other for a long while.

Just then, the group of men who had been bullying the little girl shouted at Zhang Yichen, ”Who are you? What do you want? We found this girl on the street. Do you think you can play the hero and take her away? If that’s what you’re thinking, then let’s see if you’ve got the skills. Men, attack!”

So, Zhang Yichen fought with the group.

A quarter of an hour later, Zhang Yichen single-handedly defeated the group of men.

Zhang Yichen helped the little girl up and asked her, ”Little sister, why are you alone? It’s not safe for a girl to walk by herself on the streets. Where are your parents, or do you have any brothers or sisters?”

”Big brother, I don’t know where my parents are. I came here to look for a little brother, who seems to be called Zhang Yichen. I remember meeting him in a valley ten years ago. So, I wanted to find him and ask him if he still remembers the promise he made to me back then!”

Zhang Yichen was stunned when he heard what the little girl said. Why did it sound so familiar? What did she mean by the promise he made ten years ago? He had never made any promises to the girl standing before him, except for that one girl he had met in the valley when he was injured. He had never made any promises to any other girl in his life. At that moment, he felt a sense of anticipation, hoping that the girl in front of him was the one he had been searching for so desperately. Would his wish come true?

”Little sister, I want to ask you, what is your name? Where did you live ten years ago? And how did you meet the young brother that you mentioned?” Zhang Yichen desperately concealed the excitement in his heart. He was eager for the girl’s response in front of him, praying to heaven that it would not disappoint him.

”It’s been so long, and I don’t remember everything clearly, but I do recall that the brother told me his name was Zhang Yichen, and he said he was the grandson of Zhang Mo from City A. My name is Ran Zhihan, and ten years ago I lived in a valley. I met that young brother when he seemed to be injured. I even gave him a bottle of painkillers back then. Unfortunately, he didn’t take the band-aid I had with me. I have no idea how his injury healed,” Ran Zhihan said unhurriedly to Zhang Yichen, unaware that the man in front of her was the young brother she had been searching for.

”Little sister, is it really you?”

Ran Zhihan didn’t understand why the man in front of her was saying such things; there was a hint of anticipation as she looked at the young man before her.

”Who are you?”

”Little sister, I am that young brother you mentioned. Ten years ago, I was injured while participating in training in a valley, where I met you. You gave me a bottle of painkillers. Because you were holding a band-aid, I only took the painkillers from you. Do you still remember what I told you back then? I asked you if you would hate your parents if they abandoned you, and you told me you wouldn’t because they brought you into this world. That statement has stayed with me, and because of it, I made a promise to you, to wait for me, and that I would come back to marry you from the valley once I became an economic tycoon. Do you remember?”

Hearing the man in front of her recite the exact words that the young brother had told her ten years earlier, she was overwhelmed with emotion. After years of searching, she finally found that young brother. She had always hoped for a reunion, not expecting it to happen so quickly. She had thought it might take decades more to find him, yet destiny had kindly brought them together, right when she was being tormented by hooligans, meeting the boy she had so longed to encounter.

”Young brother, I remember very clearly what you told me ten years ago. You said that on the day you became an economic emperor, on the day you achieved your empire ten years later, you would come back to the valley to marry me. But I couldn’t wait for you, so I came looking for you myself, because I missed you so much. Won’t you think that I, being a commoner’s daughter, am not worthy of you, a rich man’s son? Actually, I am willing to make any changes for you, just hoping that you won’t disdain my existence,” she said.

Zhang Yichen was deeply moved by the words the girl had said to him. He thought if only his parents could also make any change for him, how wonderful that would be. But he had made up his mind never to forgive his parents. Seeing that he appeared pensive, the young girl couldn’t help but ask Zhang Yichen, ”Brother, have your parents come back? Do you still hate your parents? I think you should have reunited with your parents by now. I really hope they won’t disdain me either. For your sake, I have worked so hard over these ten years. I hope so much that you can stay with me forever...”

Actually, Zhang Yichen had also investigated the girl’s past ten years. To be worthy of him, she had put in so much effort and gone through countless hardships without giving up. He swore that no matter what, he would never let down the girl before him.
