My Alleged Husband

Chapter 187: Chapter 170 Xiao Wei’s Persuasion_1

Zhang Zhentian heard his own son speak such heartless words to him, his heart felt as if it had been slashed with a knife, yet what could he do but forcefully hold back his emotions? This was all the karma he had created. If he hadn’t been so stubborn and left, abandoning his son, none of this would have happened. If only he had taken his son’s feelings into consideration back then, would his son not hate him to the bone as he does now? Oh God, my son, whom I struggled so hard to bring into this world, has actually hated me, his father, for twenty years. Who can tell me how my son has endured these twenty years?

”Son, for the past decade, Dad has not spent a day without missing you. I admit I haven’t fulfilled my responsibilities as a father over these ten years, but my heart has always loved you. Can’t you forgive your father for his moment of folly, for abandoning you back then? Are you going to hate your father for a lifetime?”

”Mister, I’ll say it again to you, I don’t have parents. My parents died a month after I was born. Please don’t come here and pretend to be my mom and dad. It’s really unnecessary. Do you know? For these twenty years, it was my grandfather who toiled to raise me, sacrificing everything for me. He would rather give up his company than see me unhappy. Where were you then? When I was being mocked by all my classmates for not having parents, where were you? When I suffered humiliation, when my hands were covered in blood from training, where were you? You were still outside, freely soaring. When I was striving to become an emperor of economy, when I was studying hard every day, when I needed the encouragement and comfort of my mom and dad, where were my parents? They didn’t think of me either, just as happy outside. Now that I have made a success of myself, and my success is thanks to my grandfather’s nurturing and sacrifices, it has nothing to do with my parents. After I became successful, my parents come back, asking for my forgiveness. Why? Why should I forgive them? Just because they gave birth to me, should I forgive them without any reservations? What about the twenty years they abandoned me? Should I not hate them? No, maybe you think I shouldn’t hate them, but for me, I truly despise them in my heart, because they abandoned me!” Zhang Yichen spoke and broke down in tears.

These past few days, staying by his son and hearing him speak these words, tears involuntarily flowed. He now understood that his son’s hatred for him was bone-deep. How could he possibly dissolve such hatred? Must he really leave this family behind completely to make his child’s life happy? No, he didn’t want such an outcome. He had chosen to come back because he hoped his son would forgive him. He wanted to return home to be with his son, instead of continuing his reckless ways.

”Son, your parents truly realize their mistakes. Perhaps you do not understand the depth of your parents’ agony, but I hope you know that there hasn’t been a moment when you weren’t in your parents’ hearts. Our hearts are always filled with love for you, not for any other reason but because you are our son. Even if you hate me, our hearts as parents are still full of love for you. Can’t you forgive your parents and let them be by your side every day, to live a happy life together with you?”

Zhang Zhentian beseechingly looked at his son, but Zhang Yichen remained indifferent.

...

Old Master Zhang watched his son and grandson talk for so long, and seeing his grandson insist on his stance, refusing to forgive his parents, he didn’t know what to say. He realized now how deep his grandson’s hatred for his parents was. What more could he do but let his son leave first!

After Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing left the Zhang Family, they called Xiao Wei. Xiao Wei was a bit surprised to hear what Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing reported, the words their little nephew had spoken. In his memory, his little nephew had always been adorable, so how could he act so cold-heartedly? He decided to make a call to inquire.

”Hello, Uncle!” Zhang Yichen answered the call.

”My dear little nephew Yichen, how are you doing now? Your uncle misses you a lot, so I’m giving you a call to check in. Have you missed your uncle?”

Zhang Yichen knew why his uncle was calling. He said, ”Uncle, if you called because you miss me, then you’re welcome to call me anytime. But I hope you’re not calling today because of my parents. I feel that’s a matter between my parents and me, and you’d best not get involved. You know how difficult my life has been for the past twenty years, and how much I’ve suffered these last ten years, and how I’ve struggled through. So, I believe you can understand my sincerity and I hope you can be considerate and not pressure me to make any decisions. Since I’ve already decided not to forgive my parents, I will never forgive them for as long as I live. If you don’t want to lose me as a nephew, then please don’t come to me with any pleas for them in the future!”

Xiao Wei, although aware of his nephew’s exceptional intelligence, had not expected him to be this formidable...

”Listen to your uncle. I do understand that this is an issue between you and your parents, and I shouldn’t intervene. But I still want to say a few words. There are no parents in the world that don’t love their own children. I hope you can put yourself in your parents’ shoes and consider their feelings. Don’t act rashly. Do you really wish for your grandfather to lose his son because of you? He’s the son that he has raised for over thirty years. Can you bear that? Alright, that’s all your uncle has to say. If you have time in the future, you should come to the United States. You have cousins here, and they’re such mischievous kids. We’re counting on you to help discipline them in the future!”

”Uncle, as long as you don’t bring up my parents around me again, rest assured, I will definitely visit you and my aunt in the United States. You and my aunt have always been good to me. It’s thanks to your help over these twenty years that I could achieve my dream so quickly. Thank you both. When I have time, I will come to the United States, take my three cute cousins out for fun, and I hope they’ll like me!”

”Good boy, I still hope you’ll consider it. Of course, your uncle will always support any decision you make, as long as you have no regrets. I will support you unconditionally!”

Zhang Yichen felt truly touched upon hearing these words from his uncle, words not even his own grandfather had said to him—unconditional support for his decisions. Wasn’t he also someone who needed encouragement and support? Hearing such words, how could he not be moved? He smiled and then hung up the phone.

”Grandfather, my uncle just called. He said he would support my decision unconditionally, as long as I have no regrets. I want to know, you’re my grandfather, you watched me grow up, it’s been twenty years, why can’t you do this one thing? Is it because you still hold my parents in your heart? But I’ve decided to hate them for life, and I absolutely, absolutely will not forgive them because of anything my uncle says!”

After saying this, Zhang Yichen left the Zhang Family home. Old Master Zhang sat alone on the sofa, his heart burdened with an immense weight.
