My Alleged Husband

Chapter 197: Chapter 178 What Do You Really Want?_1

After Xia Jing left, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Lei Shao felt distressed that the girl he liked was being bullied by his own aunt, so he sneakily took his phone and ran to his room. He made a call to Zhang Yichen. When Zhang Yichen received the call, he thought there might be some good news. However, when he heard what Lei Shao had to say, he became instantly infuriated.

”Brother Yichen, as you know, I’ve always treated you like my real brother. And the girl you like, that sister, she’s genuinely kind-hearted. But there’s something I need to tell you. Today, your mom came here and gave sister a hard time. She even forced her to leave you or else she would settle the score with sister’s parents. I don’t know what was going through sister’s mind at that moment, but she was very determined. She refused to leave you. I believe she truly loves you. I don’t want to see her being bullied by aunt like this, so I secretly called you. Please don’t tell my mom...”

Having listened, Zhang Yichen said to Lei Shao, ”Thank you, my good brother. I’m grateful to you for sharing such important information. Don’t worry, I won’t tell aunt about this. From now on, you must help her more, okay? She doesn’t have any relatives in the United States, and if none of you help her, she really wouldn’t know where to go. If my mom comes to you guys again, can you let me know?”

”Of course, it’s my duty to look after sister!”

”Brother, I have something else to take care of, so I’ll hang up now. I’ll call you again when I have time, is that okay?”

”Sure, you go ahead with your things. We’ll talk again later when you have the time. I’m going to chat with sister now!”

Zhang Yichen ended the call and clenched his fist tightly.

He then made a call to Zhang Zhentian. When Zhang Zhentian received a call from his son, he thought his son had some good news to share or was ready to forgive him. But when he heard about the situation from the call, he too became angry. He had not anticipated that Xia Jing would go so far as to disrupt the happiness of his own son.

”Mr. Zhang, I don’t know how many times I have to tell you for you to understand. My beloved girl was already persuading me to forgive you and allow your return to the Zhang Family, and I was beginning to waver. But I never expected Xia Jing to go after my girlfriend and say those things to her, even threatening her with her parents. Do you really think I dare let you back into the Zhang Family after this? If I let you return, wouldn’t my wife continually suffer bullying?”

Zhang Zhentian was stunned; he had no idea that Xia Jing had gone to trouble Zhang Yichen’s girlfriend. He tried to explain, but where would Zhang Yichen give him a chance to do so? He was already resentful towards his parents, and now he despised them even more.

”Yichen, listen to me, I can explain...”

”You don’t need to explain anymore. Since this has already happened, don’t even think about returning to the Zhang Family for the rest of your life. I’ve given you a chance. I was even considering whether to let you come back and see me, but this is how you treat my girlfriend? How could you be so cruel? Crying? Do you really want to ruin the happiness of my life? Do you hate me that much? What exactly did I do to upset you on the previous floor, to be treated like this by you? I’ve never hated anyone in my life, not until now. Is it really you I feel this way about? You actually look down on my happiness, and my parents won’t care about your thoughts. I don’t need to care whether your hearts will ever be successful. As for my wedding, I won’t let you see it because you don’t deserve to be my parents!”

After Zhang Yichen finished, he hung up the phone and called Xia Jing.

”Hello, my son, do you miss your mother? If you miss Mom, I can come to see you right away. Wait at home for me!” Xia Jing thought her son was missing her and spoke cheerfully to him, but she never expected her son to yell at her!

”Xia Jing, let me tell you, in this lifetime I don’t have you as a mother. Please stop ruining my happiness, alright? I didn’t expect you to actually go to my girlfriend. She hasn’t offended you. Do you know that? She’s been persuading me to forgive you, to let you return to the Zhang Family. But why do you treat her like this? She’s so kind, how can you dislike her so much? Or, in your eyes, is everyone who speaks well of you not a good person? Why do you have to do this? She’s the girl I’ve longed for over ten years, and even if you feel a bit guilty in your heart, you should have taken my side and agreed to our marriage. But what did you do? Is this how you treat me? How does ruining my relationship with my girlfriend benefit you? Can you really bear to see your son suffer his whole life? How could I have a mother like you? Other mothers hope their children can be as happy as possible, but my mother schemes to break up my relationship with my girlfriend. You even threatened her with her parents to leave me. How could you do this? Your actions truly chill me to the bone. Let me tell you the truth: she’s convinced me several times to agree to let you come home; I’ve already wavered and was prepared to invite you to my wedding, to have you and Dad return to live in the Zhang Family. But what you’ve done this time has really chilled my heart. My girlfriend begged me to forgive my parents, not to hate you, but you treated her like this. No good deed goes unpunished, huh? Rest assured, in this lifetime, you and Zhang Zhentian will never step into the Zhang Family’s door again, including not coming to my wedding, because I don’t want such a mother to attend my wedding. Having such a mother there would be a deep shame, from the bottom of my heart. I’ve said all I can say. If I find out later that you’ve been troubling my girlfriend again, well, I’m sorry, I won’t call you anymore. To tell you the truth, I’m quite grateful to you for abandoning me. If it weren’t for your abandonment, how could I have accepted so much training? And without that training, how could I have met the most important girl of my life in the valley? All of this is thanks to you, and for that, I thank you. However, these thanks can’t cancel out the hate I have for you, because my hate for you started when I first remembered, and this hate for you has taken deep root over the past decade. If you truly want to live together with me, then don’t continue doing things that hurt me. I’ve already told Dad that I’ve never hated anyone in my life, but I do hate you both...”

”No, listen to your mom. I’m doing this for your own good. She’s just a commoner’s daughter, she’s not worthy of you. You’re now an economic emperor; how can you marry a commoner’s daughter?”

”I’ll say it once more, who I marry has nothing to do with you. If you dare to trouble her again, I’ll hate you for the rest of my life, even if you are my parents, I will not spare you!”

”I’m your mother. How can you be like this? Son, forgive me, please. I’ll never abandon you again, but that girl really isn’t worthy of you!”

”If you want my forgiveness, you must agree to my marriage with her, or there’s nothing more to talk about. Think it over!”

After Zhang Yichen finished, he hung up, leaving Xia Jing struggling within herself. What should she do? Had she really become so greedy?
