My Alleged Husband

Chapter 153: Chapter 137: My Dear, Thank You! _1

After Xiao Wei entered the room, just as he was about to speak, Li Jiayuan let go of Xiao Wei’s hand. Although she had told Xiao Wei that she had forgiven him, her heart still couldn’t get over that hurdle. Xiao Wei’s departure had dealt her no small blow, and she didn’t want to forgive him so easily. The only reason she had said that to Xiao Wei was to keep him from standing in the rain any longer.

Xiao Wei felt the distance Li Jiayuan was keeping from him and was unclear about her intentions. He didn’t understand what Li Jiayuan meant and said to her, ”Jiayuan, what do you mean by this? Didn’t you just say that you had forgiven me?”

Li Jiayuan really didn’t know what to say to Xiao Wei. To call him foolish wasn’t quite right, but to say he wasn’t was to say he was indeed a bit foolish...

”Jiayuan, speak to me, please. Did you lie to me when you said you had forgiven me?” Xiao Wei reacted and said to Li Jiayuan.

”Yes, I lied to you. What about it? Who told you to leave for a whole year without so much as a phone call? Lei Wei, just what am I, Li Jiayuan, in your heart?” Li Jiayuan couldn’t hold it back anymore and yelled at Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei was stunned and said to Li Jiayuan, ”Li Jiayuan, then what am I in your heart, huh? You fought with me over a business deal and let me go abroad alone. Yes, your father is important, but the person who will spend a lifetime with you is me, not him. Have you ever considered how I feel? Do you know how much it hurts me when you do that? Li Jiayuan, can’t you think about the consequences of your actions? Can’t you stop being so self-centered? Don’t you see any of my goodness towards you, not even a tiny bit?”

”What do you mean by saying I don’t see your goodness? Do you think that in our marriage only you have contributed emotionally and that I haven’t contributed anything at all?” Li Jiayuan looked intently at Xiao Wei, seeking an answer in his face, but she couldn’t discern anything!

”I didn’t mean that. I just feel like I’m not as important in your heart as I thought. I can understand that you came to me for a business deal because of your father. But that you argue with me time and time again over it, I can’t bear it. I’m not the only one with dignity; I have it too. But for you, I can cast aside my dignity. But you? How have you treated me?”

With teary eyes, Li Jiayuan said to Xiao Wei, ”Yes, that’s just the kind of person I am. I am vain. But you have no right to judge me. You weren’t there during my hardest, most challenging times; you weren’t by my side when I almost died giving birth to Nian Jun. Even so, I still believed you would at least call me back. But what happened? I didn’t even get a single message from you, let alone a phone call. If it were you, would you feel fine about it? Do you have any idea how much it hurts when I hold Nian Jun, knowing that other children get their father’s warm embrace from birth? As for Nian Jun, what has he received? Xiao Wei, it’s not that I am being harsh. It’s just that there are many things I cannot come to terms with...”

Xiao Wei was speechless, struck by Li Jiayuan’s words, and filled with regret. He sighed and said to Li Jiayuan, ”Jiayuan, I know how hard this has been on you, but it’s all in the past. I’ve come back now, haven’t I? Let’s take care of Nian Jun together, okay? From our child’s name, I can see that I’m still in your heart. I was too harsh just now. Please don’t be angry, okay?”

Eventually, Xiao Wei lowered his head. He didn’t want to lose Li Jiayuan and their child again.

”Jiayuan, I believe you wouldn’t want our child to grow up without a father either, right? Even if not for anything else, you should consider our child. Look how adorable he is; can you really bear to let him lose his father so young?” Xiao Wei was really something, using Nian Jun as a shield to get Li Jiayuan’s forgiveness and to ensure he could be with his child every day—perhaps that was the only way she would truly forgive Xiao Wei.

Li Jiayuan looked at Nian Jun and tears fell. She felt she couldn’t be so selfish; she would rather suffer every indignity than let her child be hurt in the slightest.

”Alright, for the sake of the child, I can forgive you. But I hope you remember, my forgiveness today is not because I don’t care about the hurt you’ve caused me. I’m doing this for Nian Jun, so don’t misunderstand my intentions,” Li Jiayuan took a deep breath and said to Xiao Wei.

Xiao Wei didn’t care what Li Jiayuan was saying; he quickly opened his mouth to her and said, ”Yes, yes, yes, I understand, as long as you let me stay with you guys, that’s fine...”

Li Jiayuan looked at Xiao Wei’s fear of loss and really wanted to say to him: If only you had known this earlier, why did you do it in the first place?

Xiao Wei carefully picked up Nian Jun, and the moment Nian Jun saw Xiao Wei, he couldn’t stop smiling at him. Watching Nian Jun’s smile, Li Jiayuan said to Xiao Wei, ”Blood really is a magical thing; even though he hasn’t seen you since birth until now, he still smiles so happily the moment he sees you!”

”Of course, he is my son after all. By the way, what’s the child’s name, have you thought about it?” Xiao Wei asked while amusing Nian Jun and speaking to Li Jiayuan.

”Lei Jian!” After Li Jiayuan answered, she walked away, evidently accepting the name Xiao Wei had chosen for Nian Jun.

Upon hearing this, Xiao Wei paused for a moment and then started to laugh happily. He looked at the child in his arms, gently stroked the child’s cheek, and said to Nian Jun, ”Jian’er, your mom just has a tough exterior, but actually her heart still has a place for dad, right? Don’t worry, dad will definitely gain mom’s forgiveness. In the future, our family will live happily together, alright?”

Li Jiayuan, standing outside the door, listened to Xiao Wei’s words and covered her mouth, gently sobbing.

The next day, Xiao Wei got up very early. He was busily working in the kitchen. By the time Li Jiayuan got up, he had already prepared breakfast. Seeing the table filled with her favorite foods, she was deeply moved. Xiao Wei knew her so well, but why had she never realized it?

”What are you standing there for, come and try it, see if it’s good?” Xiao Wei smiled warmly at Li Jiayuan. Jiayuan felt somewhat dazed, she hadn’t seen Xiao Wei’s smile for a very long time. This smile, even more beautiful than before, how gorgeous!

”You made all this delicious food today, you don’t have some ulterior motive, do you?” Li Jiayuan gave Xiao Wei a sidelong glance and said to him.

”Dear, you’re overthinking it. I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for going through so much trouble to give birth to such a cute son for me. You’ve worked hard!” Xiao Wei said with a smile to Li Jiayuan.

”Could I have heard wrong? Did you actually thank me?” Li Jiayuan was a bit incredulous.

”You didn’t hear wrong, I really am thankful to you for giving me a son. From now on, I will treat you well, I will never leave you again. I’ll stay by your side until the day I die, and I hope you won’t despise me!”

Li Jiayuan really wanted to reply: How could I ever despise you? But she couldn’t say anything.
