My Alleged Husband

Chapter 166: Chapter 150 Airplane Takeoff!_1

”Sis, it’s getting late, so Xiao Wei and I will head back now. You and your family can come to the United States to visit us sometime. I hope that after we leave, you can live a happy life with your brother-in-law and stop bickering over trifles. Actually, your husband is not a bad person at heart, he’s just a bit naïve. Whatever people say, he tends to believe them. But that’s because he trusts them! Every time he fights with you, it’s because he cares about you, not really because of other things. Sometimes, you should try to be more understanding of each other, and that way, you won’t have so many troubles. Do you think I’m right?” Li Jiayuan said to Xia Jing.

Xia Jing never expected that Li Jiayuan understood more than she did - she truly felt a bit ashamed!

”Jiayuan, I’m embarrassed to hear you say that. Even though I’m older than you, you understand more than I do. Sometimes I just can’t stand him getting into an argument with me over something trivial. I feel like I’ve been considerate enough, but I don’t understand why he has to argue over such little things. After each argument, I comfort myself, thinking that he does it because he cares about me, but as the days and nights go by, I really feel quite exhausted. A relationship is not for fighting, but for mutual support and dependence. With us constantly arguing, sometimes I don’t even know what the purpose of us being together is, or perhaps me getting together with him in the first place was a mistake! But you and Xiao Wei, you truly are different. After being apart for a year, you both have come to understand many things, things that I can’t comprehend. Without having experienced it myself, I simply can’t grasp what kind of feeling that is!” Xia Jing said to Li Jiayuan. Xiao Wei felt Xia Jing made sense, but he didn’t chime in. He just let Xia Jing and Li Jiayuan talk, thinking that maybe the outcome would be different this way!

”Regardless, you shouldn’t have such thoughts in your mind. The purpose of your marriage with your brother-in-law wasn’t just to seek psychological comfort; it should be for love and for a lifetime together. Sometimes, if you think about it from his perspective, your husband has it tough, too. I know that for your sake, he turned the world upside down with your uncle. He was willing to give up his family, but not you. It was precisely because of this that you two ended up as a couple, but I don’t want to see you and your husband fighting all the time, as it really hurts the relationship. Don’t think that I know more than you; I’ve just experienced more. If you and your husband spend some time apart, you will understand how important you are to each other. It’s because you haven’t experienced this that you can’t fathom the depth of the feelings between me and Xiao Wei!”

After thinking it over, Xia Jing found Li Jiayuan’s words to be very sensible. If she and Zhang Zhentian could spend some time apart, perhaps she would realize what she truly wanted in her heart - would her path in life then be less confusing and aimless? She felt that she should search for what she really wanted - was it relatives? A family? Or the freedom she had always yearned for?

”Jiayuan, thank you! Thank you for sharing so much with me today. I think one day I will go out on my own too! I will also take some time apart from Zhentian and then seriously consider whether I should continue our relationship. You should know that I, Xia Jingyi, have always longed for freedom. For his sake, I gave up the freedom I always desired. I seldom go out, living within these narrow confines, but I did so willingly and have never regretted it for his sake. However, this doesn’t mean I should always do so. Perhaps one day, I will choose the freedom I’ve always longed for. Who would willingly be a bird caged up? Who doesn’t yearn for the blue sky and white clouds outside?”

”Since you’ve said so much already, I won’t bother saying anything else. I hope you will consider my words. Like you said, in this vast sea of humanity and myriad fates, it’s not easy for two people to find their one true match. So I hope you will cherish your husband and not do anything rash, since you already have such a lovely child together. When I get the chance in the future, I will come back and give my little nephew a good cuddle. But it’s getting late now, and Xiao Wei and I should head back. We have a plane to catch tomorrow! Let’s stay in touch by phone after we land!”

”Since you both seem set on leaving, I won’t hold you back. Xiao Wei, take good care of Jiayuan on the road. And Jiayuan, don’t forget the promise you made to me! Take care and have a safe trip,” Xia Jing said.

”Thank you, sis!”

...

Xiao Wei and Li Jiayuan bid farewell to Xia Jing and rushed back home to pack their luggage. By the time they returned, Li Haixiao had already packed all their luggage, which left both Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei stunned when they saw it!

Seeing Li Jiayuan and Xiao Wei return, Li Haixiao spoke up, ”You’re back. I’ve already packed your luggage. Check it yourselves to see if there’s anything missing. It’s getting late now, so I’ll take Nian Jun to sleep first.”

After saying that, Li Haixiao carried Nian Jun upstairs to sleep. After a year of recovery, his body was almost as strong as it was before he fell ill.

”I didn’t expect Dad to pack our luggage so meticulously. He put everything we needed and even things we didn’t need into the suitcases. We can finally get a good night’s rest. We have to get up early tomorrow!” After saying that, Li Jiayuan pulled Xiao Wei to go to sleep.

That night, Li Jiayuan struggled to fall asleep. She was reluctant to leave this place, which held her most precious memories! But now, she had to leave, and her heart really didn’t want to let go. How wonderful it would be if she didn’t have to leave!

As Li Jiayuan pondered, she drifted off into a fitful sleep, and when she awoke, it was already the next morning. She quickly got up because Xiao Wei was no longer beside her; he was already ready and waiting for Li Jiayuan to get up so they could leave. After getting dressed in a hurry, Li Jiayuan was ready to go to the airport with Xiao Wei, her father, and her child. Throughout the journey, Li Haixiao never let go of Nian Jun’s hand. He held Nian Jun tightly in his arms, as if afraid that if he let go, he would lose him. Several times on the way, Li Jiayuan offered to hold the child, but Li Haixiao refused. How could he bear to let someone else hold his grandson, even if that person was his grandson’s own mother?

The family arrived at the airport, completed the procedures, and were ready to board the plane. A quarter of an hour later, they were all seated on the airplane. The plane slowly began to move and started to take off. And so, they left their place of birth, off to live in a foreign country. Sitting on the airplane, Li Jiayuan gazed down at the city she had lived in, tightly closing her eyes, fearing she wouldn’t be able to hold back her tears! Xiao Wei knew Li Jiayuan was reluctant to leave; he extended his arm, embraced her tightly in his arms, and comforted her silently!
