My Alleged Husband

Chapter 175: Chapter 159: Hatred in the Heart_1

Old Master Zhang did not understand what was going on in Zhang Yichen’s mind, but he saw a sudden spark in Zhang Yichen’s eyes, and he was somewhat perplexed by this. He did not believe his own words could have such charm, he did not believe Zhang Yichen could change so dramatically just because of what he had said!

After a while, Zhang Yichen spoke up to the Old Master Zhang, ”Grandfather, I hope you can give me ten years. In ten years, I will definitely not let you down. In ten years, I will surely become the youngest business emperor in the entire business world!”

Old Master Zhang suddenly heard Zhang Yichen say these words, and he felt an odd sensation. Was there something wrong with his own perception? He looked at Zhang Yichen and said, ”Take your time, Yichen, I want to know, did something happen to you in the valley? Or did you meet someone? Why have you changed so much? When I had previously offered you the chance to be a business emperor, you did not show such enthusiasm as you have today. Your enthusiasm is so high today, there must be some extraordinary encounter, right? Share it with your grandfather!”

Zhang Yichen smiled. What kind of extraordinary encounter had he had? He had only been injured in the valley and met a little girl to whom he could pledge his life, but now he was only ten years old. How could Old Master Zhang believe such a thing if he said it? He shook his head and said to Old Master Zhang, ”Grandfather, you are overthinking it. How could I have had any extraordinary encounters? These last two days in the valley, I’ve been endlessly searching for a way out. I was afraid of letting you down, so I’ve been working hard nonstop. Now that my enthusiasm is high, shouldn’t you be happy for me?”

Upon hearing what Zhang Yichen had said, Old Master Zhang also felt it made a lot of sense. Could a person’s enthusiasm really only rise because of some extraordinary event? Perhaps Zhang Yichen had come to a realization on his own, not wanting to let his parents or others look down upon him. Maybe everyone is different, but everyone has their own self-respect and grand ambitions!

Having come to an understanding, Old Master Zhang couldn’t help but beam with joy. He said to Zhang Yichen, ”What you said is right, perhaps I did overthink it. But, I don’t understand, why do you only need ten years? Even the current youngest emperor in the business world is over forty years old. You’re just asking for ten years, could it be that you really aspire to be a defiant emperor against the heavens?”

Zhang Yichen did not aspire to be a defiant emperor against the heavens; he simply remembered the ten-year promise he had with Ran Zhihan, the girl he loved. He had promised that girl that he would return to the valley in ten years to marry her, and he could not break his word. He wanted to be the most honest man, to make that girl feel that he was, indeed, the person truly worthy of her lifelong trust.

”Grandpa, I don’t want to be some defiant emperor, nor do I want to put myself under such great pressure. I just don’t want those who look down on me to underestimate me. I just want my mom and dad to understand what a huge mistake they made by giving up on me. If it weren’t for them, how could I be where I am today? How could I have started those devilish trainings at the age of two? If they had been by my side, at the age of two, I would have been laughing in the arms of my parents like any other child. But because they abandoned me, my childhood was spent only in training, as that was the only way to numb my brain so I wouldn’t think of being deserted by my mom and dad. Although Grandpa was with me, and indeed, your love for me was great, who doesn’t wish to be cherished by their own mom and dad? I also wish... if it wasn’t for my parents abandoning me, how could I be so lonely now? Grandpa, I don’t want to disappoint you, but I also need my mom and dad to fully realize that giving up on me, their son, is the biggest mistake of their lives. I need to make them pay for abandoning me!” Zhang Yichen said to Old Master Zhang.

It was the first time Old Master Zhang saw a look of hatred in Zhang Yichen’s eyes. He wondered if the child had truly started to hate his parents. What should he do in such a case? If he had truly made him hate his mom and dad, how sad would Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing be?

It seemed like Zhang Yichen could tell what was on Old Master Zhang’s mind. He smiled and softly spoke to his grandfather, ”Grandpa, you might not say it, but I can tell what you’re thinking. I hope you don’t feel burdened because I hate my mom and dad. I hate them because they abandoned me, and it has nothing to do with you. You didn’t force them out of the house; they just didn’t want me as their son. So no matter how great my accomplishments are in the future, I will never acknowledge them as my parents, because they’ve hurt me too much, leaving me alone for ten years, bearing the mockery of others for a decade. These years have felt like an eternity, and although I’ve always tried to numb my mind with that devilish training, I too am a human with feelings; my heart also aches. So even if I end up hating my mom and dad in the future, it has nothing to do with you. You shouldn’t feel any discomfort because of it!”

After hearing what Zhang Yichen had said to him, Old Master Zhang deeply sighed. He had never imagined that his decision to drive Xia Jing and Zhang Zhentian out of the house would lead to such an outcome. He hadn’t considered that his grandson might actually come to hate his own parents. Perhaps he was truly heartbroken. If one were in his position, forsaken cruelly by one’s parents, the pain would be unbearable. Especially for a child who was only ten years old, barely a month old when cruelly left behind by his parents in China while they went to live freely abroad.

”Yichen, I don’t wish for you to hate your mom and dad. Even if they cruelly abandoned you, I still hope you can treat them as your parents. After all, it was they who brought you into this world, and without them, how could you have achieved what you have now? If you truly become the youngest emperor of the business world in the future, I hope you’ll never forget your mom and dad. They truly loved you, but they had their own issues to deal with. You should understand them, not hate them just because they abandoned you. You need to realize the immense pain that a child’s hatred can cause a parent!” Old Master Zhang pleaded earnestly with Zhang Yichen, but Yichen refused to listen. He felt that his parents abandoned him because they didn’t love him. If they didn’t love him, then why give birth to him and make him endure the ridicule of others?

”Grandpa, I know what you mean, and of course I understand these principles. But my heart just can’t bear it. If they loved me, they wouldn’t have callously left me. If they had even a bit of love for me, they would have treated me as their treasure. Grandpa, I hope you understand what kind of person I am, you raised me, you should know my character and temperament. When it comes to matters, if I love, it’s love; if I hate, it’s hate. I won’t be nice to someone for a lifetime just because they’ve been good to me. If that were the case, I could never achieve anything in my life!”

Old Master Zhang, listening to Zhang Yichen’s words, realized that the wisdom of the young was astonishing; he simply couldn’t out-argue Zhang Yichen. In the end, he could only choose to give up on trying to persuade Yichen!
