Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”You need an excuse for revenge?

I say Amanata, don’t think too highly of yourself, okay?

Don’t take my kindness as your shameless capital!

But, it turns out, you still know you’ve done something that warrants revenge, huh?” Lansendel said with a bright smile, ”Speaking of which, I’d really like to see your cup... the one that the Black Dragon of Deepwater City especially misses.”

’Hiss’... Hill felt a sudden sharpness in his teeth.

Lansendel, that guy, his words are indeed ruthless!

But at this moment, he couldn’t deny Lansendel’s claim of his kindness... If Amanata really took back the sun, there might not be another chance.

Then, Lansendel could truly become Toril’s Sun God... As the dawn most anticipated by Toril’s races, he could easily tap into the various divine offices of the sun.

He could forgo such enormous benefits... Hill would never again question his kindness faction.

No matter how great the disaster caused by Lansendel, his personal intentions were certainly not problematic.

”Did that Dragon Lich offend Lansendel?” Hill asked softly... Although the biggest disgrace was Amanata’s, the most perilous was the fate of that Black Dragon!

Amanata indeed lacks strength now, so he can only ignore this matter as much as possible... But if AO allowed him to resurrect and helped him a bit, surely they mean to use him later for something.

Moreover, it can’t be anything good... Some guys, although detestable and despised, are very useful.

After all, even someone like Cyric would consider dealing with those who offended him first, instead of being easily led by interests.

Then Amanata, sooner or later, would at least recover to intermediate divine power, right?

And although his character isn’t great, he does have strength.

Just like Suren back then, although classified as intermediate, goddesses like Shuni looking to engage in a death battle with her would find it inconvenient; they’d rather drift in the Stellar Realm.

Amanata definitely wouldn’t be poor in battle; otherwise, he would have been dead long ago... Shaer hunted him for so many years!

Until he dared not mention his appearance was a result of Celene following fate’s guidance, only then was he temporarily spared... But by that time, Toril had already been rebooted unknown times.

Of course, it was only on the surface.

If Amanata hadn’t played himself to death... But who knows how many Envoys of the Night might have been beside those swelling Archmages of Naish?

Shaer’s Shadow Charms were extremely terrifying at that time, although eventually deceived by Azuth, the Deity of Mages, into an absolutely closed space, never to emerge again.

But before that, they were truly omnipresent.

That was Azuth’s greatest achievement, enabling him to ascend to godhood... Although theoretically, nothing in the universe is entirely flawless, Azuth achieved the relatively optimal solution.

Even Shaer’s scheming nature has yet to find that loophole, forcing her to cultivate new shadow creatures in her Shadow Realm.

Unfortunately, no matter how she tries, they can’t compare to those Shadow Charms that have grown for hundreds of thousands of years.

But to Shaer, time is just a relative issue; she isn’t in a hurry.

Toril will eventually provide some reckless fellow to offer her an opportunity to strike, not necessarily through forceful suppression.

In short, given Amanata’s identity of having enemies all over the world... comparatively, Cyric has better relations!

While Midnight is asleep and Kranvo is indifferent to others, what’s the big deal about Cyric’s few enemies?

Even those who wreck his Divine Kingdom wouldn’t truly engage in a fight to the death with him.

But Amanata is different.

Don’t be fooled by his ability to freely leave his sun and wreak havoc in this world... That’s because the Toril Gods, already tamed by AO, know they can’t eliminate him in the short term.

Therefore, no one will provoke him before Amanata’s mission is completed.

They can always wait for the moment when the donkey is slaughtered after the millstone, right?

They’re all gods, who can’t wait?

But before that, Amanata will mostly be beaten, not killed... And those daring to act against him, must be of Lansendel and Celene’s caliber; entirely unafraid of offending his skyrocketing power, nor worrying about AO’s wrath.

That Black Dragon Lich in Deepwater City, who loves playing the Great Harmony of life, certainly does not fall within this category.

Before Hill left Toril, it was already heard that he packed up and moved away from Deepwater City, where he had squatted for thousands of years, disappearing without a trace.

”Ah, I know that.” Celene revealed a cheerful smile, ”Duogasos, one of the masterminds behind spreading the rumor throughout The North that Dawn Tower in Deepwater City was established to counter the Goddess of Misfortune.

The huge warehouse he lived in, near the port and backed by mountains, logically should have been under the influence of Dawn Tower.

But due to that rumor, there was no one willing to work for Dawn Tower.

You see, Lansendel’s followers are naturally very proud, and the person in charge of Dawn Tower is one of his Chosen, who would disdain to deal with those mortals that jump at their own shadows.

So, he simply sold all the land he held.”

Hehe~

You know, Deepwater City, when you get down to it, is actually a trade haven created by merchants.

So, while they’ve gained from the land aspect, they’ve lost the true protectors...

You see, apart from me, who only protects female believers, only Shuni and Heim are willing to build temples there.

Moreover, both of them are more about doing services for money.

No deity would want to witness the fate of Lansendel’s believers... I think, Hill, you should understand.

Heh~ So, it’s not surprising the Black Staff ended up like that.

A city originally built on lies will inevitably have its end also rooted in deception.”

”Has Deepwater City not been rebuilt?” Hill seemed a bit confused.

He always thought the merchants would rebuild that city once more... After all, right next to Deepwater City is the Dimensional Gate to the Stellar Realm.

”Hill, do you have some misunderstanding about Agleya’s presence?” Celene was also a bit puzzled, ”Who do you think would dare to be your neighbor?

Do you remember how many divine glows have risen from your own garden?

Now, even Luskan can be considered one of the safest cities on Ferun Great Land.

Who would dare make a move under Edna’s watchful eye?

Not to mention, the Undead Tribe takes your place as their main city!”

Hill blinked, suddenly curious and asked, ”By the way, where is Kelben?”

Though his physical body has died, his soul must have found a place to hide, right?

Hill always remembered that his black staff was one of Kelben’s soul reliquaries.

He really wanted to know if Kelben, after realizing that the main reason for his misfortune was the neighboring Lord of Agleya, regretted rashly offending Hill... or still felt his instincts were right, just a slight miscalculation.

”Heh~ You’re overthinking. If Edna doesn’t bother with him, he’ll remain asleep for no less than two to three hundred years,” Celene couldn’t help but laugh, ”You dislike him so much, and as Edna isn’t lacking for personnel, why would she awaken Kelben?”

Kelben indeed once protected Edna’s mortal self... Unfortunately, couldn’t hold on.

The reason Hill and Celene idly chatted was naturally because those two guys on screen were sparring verbally.

And Amanata’s level was so low that he wasn’t even worthy of putting shoes on Lansendel.

Since Lansendel brandished the Black Dragon Lich’s sword, Amanata had already felt like he took a critical hit... Even the Lord of Fire Elements, Kashus, who was crouched behind couldn’t bear the exchange.

That fire column quite wished to arm-wrestle with Lansendel.

Sadly, Amanata was clearly unwilling... He even expressed that if Lansendel would agree to settle scores this time, he’d offer some concession.

Lansendel, obviously wary of Amanata’s proposal.

But he seemed to have done something to the almost lifeless looking Aislin beside him... So, he too was stalling.

”Aislin...” Hill hesitated a moment but still asked.

Although Aislin wasn’t exactly a benevolent entity, watching her turn into this seemed a bit... excessive.

”Her soul was extracted and placed within Silvermoon,” Celene responded with a grin, ”Despite being greatly influenced by Glaysia, her soul is more inclined towards the Dark Moon, thus staying near the moon’s core could help repair her tattered soul.”

”Are you itching for a beating?” Shaer, who had been silent, slowly spoke up, ”Don’t want her? Just say she’s a Dark Moon?”

”Heh~ How should I phrase it? Her soul, anyway, is neither kind nor bright.” Celene returned with full conviction.

”Heh~ If you don’t want me to crush her to dust, stop with the nonsense.”

”Don’t worry, soon, she’ll be sent into the Sun... Although technically her body should host both Dark Sun and Dark Moon, it still requires oversight.

Anyway, if that Sun explodes, so be it, right?”

”And then, Hill...” Celene turned to Hill, ”Once the materials are complete, it’ll be your turn.”

Hill blinked, stroking the bracelet on his hand: ”So, Gilbert, have you finished relaying your message?”

The purple Cat’s Eye Stone bracelet glimmered with a pale light: ”The great Styx River wishes to cooperate with you.

It was glad to hear your request.

When the Sun dims, the Styx River will descend.”

Hill smiled slightly: ”Then, Gilbert, our mutual agreement has been fulfilled.

Time to say goodbye, huh~”
