Surviving The Fourth Calamity

After discarding the burden that clearly had no weight but felt exceptionally heavy, Hill felt much lighter, and even had the mind to command those puppet insects to fly everywhere, checking the condition of the Sia Tower.

What surprised Hill slightly but didn’t shock him much was that in the Sia Tower, apart from some activity in the temple where the battle had already begun, there wasn’t a shadow of a devil to be seen anywhere else.

Even the high-level mages from the Black Tower and White Tower had vanished without a trace... and there are no low-rank mages in these two towers.

There’s no need to say much about the Black Tower. Those that Fengo could recruit under his command were either particularly cunning or exceptionally capable. The moment Lansendel descended upon the Sia Tower, and Fengo and Glaysia fled in embarrassment, these shadows immediately abandoned their opponents and slipped away.

The Sia Tower, although still in a chaotic battle, was clearly filled with so-called ’Neutral Faction’... likely someone was settling scores after the fact.

Although Delphus was the most ruthless among the traitors, it didn’t mean that the other traitors hadn’t caused damage to the magic towers they came from.

Those who were lurking had probably long been enduring silently, and now could bear it no longer.

As for the White Tower, there’s even less to say. They retreated the cleanest, after all, the moment the tower fell, they all disappeared.

Hill was surprised only by how decisively they withdrew... then immediately realized it was because of his help.

The biggest problem with devils is greed; they’re always reluctant to give up whatever little thing they have in hand.

So, they drag things out till the last moment before fleeing.

However, both the Black Tower and White Tower have fallen.

Even if there were some old items inside that they’re reluctant to leave, they couldn’t retrieve them... doing so would be truly courting death.

So, that’s why the Sia Tower has turned into its current state.

As for the Tower of Dark Enigma, Hill glanced over briefly... the Ruth faction was behaving very quietly.

Including Ruth, they all stayed quietly in their own magic tower.

Ah, not so quietly, as Ruth, along with Koyl and Oliva, kept looking towards Hill.

They were probably discussing who Hill really was.

But since they could ascertain that Hill was at least not an enemy, Ruth and his group’s mental states remained stable, even if their expressions were filled with confusion.

Hill knew that Ruth had always been very confident in his control over the Soul Tower, so his slightly existential expression was understandable.

Anyway, Gilbert would explain everything to him in due time.

”List,” Hill surveyed the surrounding environment once more before directing most of the small flying insects back to the Magic Tower. He then turned to look at the Tower Spirit standing beside him. ”We can set off now, let’s go to the Cloud Realm above, find a place with a nice view.”

List replied with a beaming smile, ”As you command!”

”Why not find a beautiful mountain range?” Shaer suddenly spoke.

”This world’s earth doesn’t take too kindly to humans,” Hill replied slowly, though his mind was racing... How could someone like Shaer, who can instantly understand the true situation of this world, suddenly ask such a question?

But he remained calm and replied with a leisurely manner, ”So there’s no landscape that looks comfortable to me.”

”Ha~ But I find it quite nice,” Shaer said with a faint smile, ”It’s especially quiet, not a peep from the birds.”

Hill smiled wryly... Surely, it wasn’t said for him to hear.

”Though Celene is tidying up Silvermoon in this world, she probably won’t stay,” Lansendel earnestly joined the conversation, ”After all, that thing’s stimulation levels are a bit high, right? Shaer.”

Shaer gave a light, casual smile, ”For me, this world isn’t so bad.

It’s shown me another possibility...”

of irrelevance.

These few words were swallowed back by Shaer.

Unfortunately, the two by her side knew her well and clearly understood what she held back.

Hill was always kind-hearted and respected deities he had a decently good relationship with.

Unlike that bird-mouthed Lord of Dawn who looked prim and proper.

Lansendel was already laughing uproariously.

Hill didn’t react much... Lansendel had restrained himself until they reached a sufficiently hidden location to start his taunting, showing considerable respect to Shaer.

So even Shaer, who was being laughed at, didn’t react much, only returning with a couple of eerie chuckles.

Ignored, Lansendel laughed for a while before stopping... A solitary celebration is called loneliness.

Somewhat displeased, he asked, ”Ah, Hill, do you think love can turn a goddess into something so unrecognizable?”

Lansendel was merely capricious, not lacking intelligence, so he quickly figured out why Shaer didn’t argue with him.

But he also knew clearly that the past Shaer, even if she could see the shred of goodwill mixed in his pranks, wouldn’t acknowledge it.

Moreover, she would react even more harshly... Shaer had always disliked others interfering in her actions under the guise of goodwill.

Of course, this so-called ’interference’ was all in her perception.

The gods of the Evil Faction ultimately couldn’t ally with Shaer and could only see if she was willing to stand by their side, due to her unyielding demeanor.

Openly seeking an alliance with Shaer is the most foolish choice... numerous Evil Gods have proven this with their lives.

Only gods with power equal to hers fare somewhat better, but whether they’ll be completely outwitted remains unknown.

The Lord of Dawn, still provoked by thinking of the current Shaer as the Shaer of old, couldn’t help but express his feelings at this moment... For him, who has fought the Lady of the Night for so many years, it is indeed exhilarating.

Not even the grand amusement in Heavenly Mountain compares to his curiosity right now.

”You ask me?” Shaer smirked coldly, ”Tai Ji is the one who can answer you.

Of course, if you say that being together and apart are the same for you two, then I have nothing to say.

It’s just that I don’t know if Tai Ji, who can see the river of destiny, can see this tributary today!”

Ruthless indeed~ Hill couldn’t help but admire.

With Shaer speaking so openly, how could Lansendel dare to spout nonsense?

While Tai Ji might not easily see all future tributaries, she can undoubtedly sense the call from an entity like Shaer.

Reluctant to affect his past love due to his current self, Lansendel could only choose to shut his beak.

Hill silently calculated in his heart and then regretfully realized that Tai Ji wasn’t always a convenient option.

It’s only when Lansendel himself initiates the topic that there is leverage to be grasped.

After all, although he has never interacted with her, in Hill’s bloodline heritage, and in the myths and legends of Toril, Tai Ji truly was a remarkably wise and rational goddess.

The reason she is split is because she sees things too clearly.

A perceptive person often overthinks and tends to accept fate... especially when they cannot see their own destiny, only knowing they will suffer misfortune but not knowing how.

If others proactively use Tai Ji to attack Lansendel, regardless of the Great Peacock’s response, that goddess Tai Ji would not feel anything... She would not allow herself, even her past self, to become Lansendel’s weak spot.

This is something Lansendel knows best.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t still hold onto his affection for Tai Ji.

Lansendel’s continued silence further confirmed Hill’s previous belief: the Lansendel in history who suddenly shared a passionate relationship with the Earth Goddess Shantia, producing a daughter who became the Goddess of Agriculture, did so to save his own life.

After all, during that time, he had been severely injured by Amanat Tower breaking free, and an ill-conceived plan had turned him into a laughingstock affecting his deterrence.

Though the Lord of Dawn doesn’t greatly rely on faith, the power to sustain Dawn Tower comes from Faith Power.

Lansendel needed to provide a new support point for his followers before he fully recovered.

And a Goddess of Agriculture capable of perfecting the entire Toril ecosystem could achieve this goal.

Though Tai Ji might be disappointed with him for doing so... Tai Ji would undoubtedly understand his actions.

No wonder, despite the Goddess of Agriculture’s radiant accomplishments, her parents are scarcely mentioned.

She indeed was not a child born of love, but merely to fulfill the mission given to them by the Law.

Of course, that mission primarily belonged to Shantia.

She was the one responsible for giving birth to the Goddess of Agriculture.

And the most suitable candidate for fatherhood wasn’t Lansendel, but Amanata.

In particular, Amanata’s presence was due to Shantia’s supplication.

Their connection was natural.

Unfortunately, Amanata is a character whom even Shantia, with her own gentle demeanor, couldn’t abide.

Hill glanced at Lansendel, who was slumped on the sofa... Despite running toward Heavenly Mountain, most of his focus remained in this world, probably because of those two individuals over the sun.

Either way, both were existences that Lansendel detested.

Especially Amanata.

Though no one mentioned it, over the years, Lansendel truly turned the Blazing Fire into his symbol.

And the Blazing Fire belonged to the sun’s authority.

Amanata must be unable to tolerate such a situation.

However, now his main goal isn’t to reclaim his divine authority from Lansendel, but at least to return to intermediate divine power.

Currently, he doesn’t even qualify to arm-wrestle with Lansendel, and even has to plead Lansendel not to overthink it.

Otherwise, with the Dawn Church’s widespread abilities, Amanata restoring his power would undoubtedly be difficult.

Hill suddenly smiled... Amanata isn’t incapable of lowering himself, otherwise, he wouldn’t have his persona called Ata.

In that case, the Goddess of Agriculture might finally have a pair of loving parents this time.
