Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Lansendel couldn’t help but frown.

He didn’t want to do anything, just borrow a path. Why did they send Six Fingers to monitor him?

With all that spare time, Grazt might as well go to Heavenly Mountain and arm wrestle with the God of Order, rather than letting the Double-headed Ape take advantage!

He slightly tilted his head and realized Grazt was just watching from afar. Grazt looked less at him than at Marladominie the Grand Duke Beelzebub which the nine layers of hell sent.

Huh, the Lord of Lies from hell facing off against the infamous deceptive Lord Wu’an from the Abyss... Hmm? Is that Cyric peeking from behind?

Why is that guy watching Lansendel?

Wait... Cyric, focused on Beelzebub?

If the World Tree weren’t right in front of him, Lansendel would absolutely lose control and turn around!

Does Cyric think that only lies are his core divinity?

Does he even want to give two stabs to the demon whose name is tied to lies?

But doesn’t that demon have nothing to do with him?

Is Cyric getting crazier?

As Lansendel’s thoughts raced, he suddenly felt as if struck by lightning... Dark Sun Cyric!

How could he not think of Cyric at all!

If Toril’s Sun truly becomes dual-core, could Amanata’s brain even contend with Cyric?

Tsk...

No wonder Shaer couldn’t help but add a bit of vinegar and oil to her words, knowing they would alert Lansendel!

Lansendel couldn’t help but clench his fist, his fingers deeply sinking into his palm... He must control himself, ensuring his spiritual power isn’t scattered due to an overly agitated mind.

Even though his Light of Dawn is the fastest light in the multiverse, the distant journey remains arduous.

Moreover, Lansendel is somewhat worried that the World Tree might not want to be touched by his Light of Dawn... Even though being disliked everywhere has many special reasons, the result of being rejected everywhere still makes Lansendel a bit apprehensive.

In Toril, he could disregard all this... Although seemingly amiable, Lansendel genuinely dislikes all Toril deities equally.

Counting it up, he is only somewhat friendly towards Tyr and a bit yielding towards the Elf Deity System.

But this is the World Tree after all!

Not only the oldest deity, but also the patriarch of the Hill Family!

Lansendel is genuinely concerned that he will be seen as a bad friend interacting with the family’s juniors.

Fortunately, the World Tree didn’t avoid him; it even cheerfully extended its branches.

The Light of Dawn carrying Lansendel’s greetings and requests still touched the lowest branch of the tall trunk.

”Hmm?” A deep voice echoed in Lansendel’s mental sea... Though it was merely a voice, it made Lansendel feel an immense and terrifying life force.

He finally understood what it means to fear life’s vitality.

That sense of oppression really... feels like it could turn him into a tree in the blink of an eye.

And that’s because the World Tree bears no hostility towards him.

”Haha~” The low laughter continued to resonate in Lansendel’s mind, ”Little Hill, already so grown up!

Toril’s Lansendel, right?

It’s not surprising that Hill would become your friend.

I accept your request.

Have fun!”

Perhaps sensing the Lord of Dawn’s tension, the World Tree soon departed from Lansendel’s mental sea.

”Lansendel, what did you just do?” Cyric, who’d been spying from afar, suddenly jumped out.

”What does it have to do with you?” Lansendel blurted out without much composure.

”Look at yourself first.” Cyric’s tone was surprisingly rational.

Only then did Lansendel realize... clearly standing in front of the Dimensional Gate, around him, even on his hair and robe, there were red roses blooming.

Knowing well it was the Dimensional Gate opened by the Abyss and Hell, how could the Lord of Dawn just stand so openly at the front?

The defensive divine arts he prepared, even if the Abyssal Will personally acted, would at least give Lansendel enough reaction time.

However, Lansendel didn’t even know how the World Tree took action.

His defensive spells didn’t react at all.

”Just greeting a friend’s elder.” Though the waves surged in his heart, Lansendel spoke with ease.

Cyric looked at him carefully... Although the Lord of Dawn has many faults, he truly doesn’t lie much.

Lansendel merely likes to go around the topic.

Just like this sentence, though Cyric found it puzzling, he could confirm Lansendel was speaking the truth.

”How dare you just run out like this?” Lansendel was actually more curious. ”Is the Divine Kingdom repaired?”

”No.” Cyric said, with eyes unblinking, speaking a lie both of them understood... If he hadn’t repaired and hidden his Divine Kingdom, how would he dare go out?

A slight carelessness could get it smashed into scrap.

”Hmm...” Lansendel naturally followed along with his words, ”No wonder you’re here, waiting to see how many layers of mountains the Abyss and Hell can smash, right?

Hmm?

We’ve arrived at the gate of the Greek Gods’ home already! How did we get here so quickly?

Those families at the bottom...”

”Completely pretending to be dead, shut in the Main Temple, not coming out to resist at all.” Cyric sneered, ”Once wanted a grand Abyssal firework, let that Abyssal Lord kill into the depths of the Heavenly Mountain’s basement as karma!

Anyone who traded places with them wouldn’t continue to fight for them!

The only brave one now is Asmodeus, who’s the main force attacking them!”

”That Goddess of War from the Greek Gods, she’s quite brave.” Lansendel looked curiously for a couple of eyes, ”Holding a shield and long sword, that’s Athena, right?

A friend of mine mentioned her, said she’s the only wise one in the Greek Gods.”

Cyric tilted his head in juvenile vexation... Although he has several forms, if standing across from him is someone like Lansendel who might act rashly, Cyric prefers a less threatening form.

Originally, he could use a rather soft female form, which he was more adept at.

Really, portraying a benevolent woman who understands people’s hearts is much easier for Cyric than acting as an oblivious boy!

Especially in this situation where he needs to show himself as harmless... Even though everyone knows he’s not like that on the surface, at least it can ease certain hostilities.

But if the one across is something like Lansendel, Cyric struggles with the guise... Even though Lansendel looks like a youth, the glimmer in his eyes is more like a true boy than Cyric.

Tsk, it’s really troublesome... Just small acting and that guy’s gaze is mocking madly.

Though it can ease the scene a little, preventing Cyric from inciting Lansendel’s hostility and engaging in a fierce fight... But Cyric, lofty as ever, never liked the feeling of being mocked constantly.

Yet after the Heim incident, even slightly mad Cyric knows it’s better not to show his feminine form while this matter remains Toril’s biggest news.

It’s only for a while he can’t use it, not that he cares... As Toril will eventually have bigger news than his fun.

The memory of Toril people is no better than dogs, after all.

Lansendel looked at Cyric with some puzzlement: ”What do you seek to know from me?

I’ve not been managing Toril affairs recently?

The games you’re playing have nothing to do with me, right?

Or did you secretly move against my people?”

His last words rose sharply in tone, eyes turning especially fierce... Cyric was startled, quickly shaking his head: ”How could I move against your Chosen ones!”

He’s a rational madman, alright!

Yet Cyric doesn’t want to appear too weak in front of Lansendel, so he immediately sneered: ”Even if I have schemes, they’re always in places teeming with people, minds in turmoil.

Your Dawn Tower, including your Chosen ones, aren’t they all in the wilderness?”

Though human memory is less than dogs, not all humans forget.

Moreover, those who decide whether Lansendel’s followers can enter the bustling city gates are generally not humans.

Though they don’t dare outright hindering, the pride of the Dawn Messenger has always mirrored their lord’s, how could they actively go where they’re unwelcome?

Cyric and his subordinates don’t have such concerns... He chooses to let time fade current memories, it’s just now that feminine form would likely elicit attacks, not ridicule.

What’s ridicule compared?

Cyric, since he became a deity, has always been the ridiculed.

But in the end... Standing at the gate of the Heavenly Mountain, making both the Grand Duke of Hell and Abyssal Lord tremble in fear, exchanging cold sneers with the Lord of Dawn Lansendel, is still Cyric.

Once glorious Kranvo, now lamenting with Midnight’s flower pot!

And that next one goes without mention... Magic Goddess Midnight’s Saint won’t be valued by the current Edna Mistrala.

They’d better end up seeing the Grim Reaper.

Ha~

Even while being relentlessly pursued by that bitch Shuni and her adulterers, Cyric has lately been quite happy.

Lansendel of course can sense Cyric’s good mood... It’s the first time in their exchange that he hasn’t felt Cyric’s head has issues.

But this made him more cautious.

To be honest, he’s always felt there was something fishy about Cyric suddenly choosing to read the ”Cyrine Scripture”, and every time this madman has acted, it has terrifyingly propelled Toril’s history forward... Though from deities and mortals’ perspective, each time is a major disaster.

But after that, Toril’s history indeed advanced a great step.

So the Lord of Dawn has always believed, this man’s madness might be guided by ’someone’.

Then Cyric’s rational chat with him this time, might have a special purpose?
