Surviving The Fourth Calamity

The pale light froze for a moment, then slowly chuckled: ”It is my honor to be worn on Hill’s wrist.

So, there is no need to say goodbye so soon... Of course, that’s my thought.

Everything depends on Hill’s will.”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh... Gilbert, this guy, even knowing Hill’s high status and strong power, still wasn’t willing to be under Hill’s control of his soul!

Though he had no choice but to use this method to protect himself and his family, Gilbert was always a very opinionated person.

He diligently fulfilled his agreement with Hill, and then silently waited for Hill to decide when to end this transaction... Although it’s a very unequal deal, as long as Hill doesn’t think it should end, it never will.

Even during this time, knowing Hill’s identity, Gilbert still longed for his freedom.

So, this remark’s insincerity was overly obvious.

”Let everything end~” Hill laughed, ”Why would I need a soul link to an Envoy of the Styx?”

Watching the broken diamonds on the cat’s eye stones slowly turn to ashes, and the beads on the bracelet break one by one, Hill lightly summoned a wind to discard these remnants out of the Magic Tower.

”You’re too nice to these people.” Shaer spoke coldly, ”Ungrateful things!”

”When I traded with him, I appreciated him for being like that.” Hill shook his head helplessly, ”How could I, at the end, feel that he was not good enough?

He completed the agreement between us very seriously!

Isn’t that enough... Do I really have to keep him under my thumb for a lifetime?

After all, he’s the Envoy of the Styx, and we just collaborated with the Styx!”

”That’s because you’re strong enough,” Shaer said dismissively, ”otherwise, he would definitely ask the Styx to help him reclaim his soul!

An incomplete soul cannot walk the path of deification.”

She was already very polite... After all, for Hill, indeed it’s not feasible to destroy oneself and others to break the bond.

Thus, she just spoke based on her observations of Gilbert: that guy could have contacted Hill for a long time but remained silent, not even asking if things were okay... clearly with ulterior motives.

Hill couldn’t help but turn to Shaer: ”As long as the outcome is what I desire, isn’t that enough?

Why explore what doubts or confusion he might have had during this time?”

”Tsk~” Shaer impatiently closed her eyes again, ”People in the Kind Alignment are troublesome.

Fine, then you have to carefully judge each time.

Don’t, in the end, give others the chance to betray you while failing to grasp their weaknesses, hah~ regretting won’t let you undo them.

By then, let’s see if you still say that as long as the outcome is good, it’s enough... say that too often, and you’ll be laughed to death, you know?”

Celene lowered her head to ponder for a while, then with some confusion, looked at Shaer... although Shaer was talking about Hill, she always felt like she was being scolded.

After all, Hill, though seemingly trusting easily, has never really been deceived.

Treats people well but has strong judgment of human nature and hearts.

Even Lansendel seems never to have been deceived?

No, those who tried to deceive him probably died leaving no trace.

Only she... Laila wasn’t even eliminated by herself.

Those Primordial who betrayed her are alive and happy in Aber.

Isn’t this scolding her for being useless, right?

Celene’s big eyes blinked continuously... she suddenly realized a very troubling matter!

If Shaer no longer fights her directly like before but instead mocks her subtly... she wouldn’t even know what she’s been scolded about, what could she do?

The key is, Shaer won’t be alone with her... while she can’t understand, others around can.

This can’t be considered as a free scolding! Moreover, although she can’t understand, she can sense!

Celene deeply feels that compared to those direct confrontations on the Sun, this matter is more important to her!

Then she secretly turned to look at Hill... she certainly didn’t think Hill, the underage child, would react faster than her, but this child should know which Undead Tribe is better at saying these sarcastic things?

Hill had no intention of lifting his head.

Of course, he understood who Shaer was truly scolding.

Therefore, he absolutely wouldn’t make eye contact with Celene... to avoid her asking him to explain.

Celene would indeed do that.

Faced with scolding unknowingly, she would rather confront it directly.

However, who would willingly do the explaining... especially for these two sisters?

Celene glanced at the top of Hill’s head, not very happily pouting... but even she, who usually feared chaos, knew Hill’s attitude of not wanting to intervene between her and Shaer was the most genuine.

And Hill could always maintain the harmonious coexistence of everyone here because of his sincerity and realness, and his natural ability to soothe emotions.

Besides, she’s not bored enough to start a fight with Shaer... There’s still a big show to watch over at Lansendel!

Not too bored Celene finally turned her attention to Lansendel.

Hill didn’t know how they contacted each other.

But most likely she used Aislin’s body, which already possessed the power of moonlight.

Sometimes, Hill also felt that Lansendel’s belief that he was the true master of brilliance wasn’t entirely wrong... Amanata, truly only burns and only loves the heat.

The close relationship he has with the Lord of Fire Elements also relates to his mindset of ’the bigger the fire, the better, the hotter the sky, the better’.

It’s no wonder that after meeting him, Shantia would leave unhappy... What Goddess of the Earth would like a madman who only wants to set fires?

Even a Goddess of the Earth who doesn’t care for her people wouldn’t like it.

And Shantia even has a divinity of harvest!

But then again, the combination of ’Eternal Flame’ and Cold Silence Planet that only loves fire seems quite natural.

Celene... This is what a mindless creature that only uses claws does.

Forget it, Shantia brought it on herself.

This kind of Sun was what she begged for, so she should naturally bear it herself in the future.

Hill recalled these bothersome matters because of the faint glow that slid over Aislin, which Amanata completely failed to notice.

He was indeed always focused on matters concerning Silvermoon... After passing through the Path of Destiny of Toril’s Goddess of Magic, everyone knew Celene and Lansendel occasionally cooperated.

Even Lansendel came forth to stop his evil acts, so Celene, who empathizes with humans even more, would certainly act.

Therefore, he was actually wary of the collaboration between these two.

But he completely overlooked the Aislin tossed at Lansendel’s feet... Even though he knew this thing was tossed over by Celene.

However, the Lord of Fire Elements did fixate on Aislin for a long time.

Yet Kashus... He only understands flames.

Compared to Amanata, he wouldn’t care about the occasional light glowing from the human beside the blazing sunfire.

The firelight is naturally flamboyant.

So these two guys, despite sneaky stares, did nothing effective in their long standoff with Lansendel... Even watched as Lansendel and Celene exchanged information right in front of them.

Or perhaps this is the mutual understanding of the Toril Gods?

The famously indifferent to outsiders Lansendel and Celene, nobody knows their capability... But the thoroughly analyzed Amanata is like a blindfolded donkey.

Hill gently placed a hand over his eyes and whispered: ”What’s the use of such an Amanata?

Toril, is there a deity able to blind him?”

”Even fools have their uses.” Shaer sneered, ”Heh~ some will always think fools are easy to exploit and can’t resist the temptation to strike from behind him.

No matter the outcome, Amanata is always there to take the blame... AO can’t have another major reshuffle of the Toril Gods, can he?”

”Why not?” Celene interjected with curiosity, ”They aren’t all that useful.”

Hill, through the gap between his fingers, silently observed this Silvermoon Maiden who understood AO well... Her intuition usually proved more reliable than Shaer’s analysis.

Although this seems dismissive of Shaer, yet... She may be good at scheming, but has always been a monkey in AO’s palm.

Shaer, after all, is a creature of order.

On the contrary, Celene’s occasional acts leave AO perplexed for quite a while.

In other words, as the great divine force AO, his computational ability exceeds Shaer’s dozens, even hundreds of times, enabling him to predict Shaer’s actions.

But the virus-like Celene falls outside of his computational scope.

Were it not for Shaer’s tireless opposition to Celene, this Silvermoon Maiden might drive AO to despair!

So... Hill blinked... Hmm?

Does AO consider the Toril Pantheon too chaotic, with too many manipulated hands, and plans to restructure a new pantheon aligned with his logic?

Hill carefully pondered... With the presence of the Undead Tribe, this task indeed seems easier.

After all, each time deities swap, it’s the civilians who suffer the most.

Even AO can’t just reboot the world because he’s displeased with these deities.

But the Tablets of Fate can’t generate so many paths of destiny at once.

However, the Undead Tribe could surely bear the impact of the Toril Deities’ downfall.

Protecting humans from the impacts of war, for them, is quite simple work.

Most importantly... The large expanse of land freed in Anmur and Kalinsan can fully accommodate refugees.
