Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”Teacher, what spell is that?” Carpenter searched through her memory but couldn’t find it.

Even though she wasn’t yet ready to learn high-level spells, a mage doesn’t have to learn the principles of spells but must remember their manifestations.

Of course, this was Hill’s teaching method; Carpenter wasn’t sure if others would learn this first.

However, their teacher insisted that they must know a spell’s nature and how many Rings are needed to cast it just by seeing its glimmer. If they only judge the strength of the spell by the mana suppression displayed by the mage, it would truly be a pointless death.

Hill always insisted that Carpenter and Russell calmly observe when facing an unbeatable enemy, prepare countermeasures based on the spells the opponent intends to use, and find a small gap under a powerful attack to escape promptly.

During the time before becoming official mages, the first thing the two children learned was how to quickly escape the battlefield without arousing the opponent’s suspicion.

After all, in situations where the disparity in level is too great, and even escaping requires utmost caution, the enemy’s main target wouldn’t likely be junior mages like them.

So they shouldn’t think about trying to profit from chaos but rather focus on escaping as quickly as possible.

No matter what Russell thought, Carpenter very much agreed with her teacher’s perspective.

Carpenter could recite backwards the book of various spell images that Hilbert gave them.

But the spell before her wasn’t in that book.

”Hmm...” Hilbert naturally understood why Carpenter hadn’t seen it, ”The book I gave you contains spells that have already appeared in this world.

This one is a long-extinct God System Spell, which I didn’t include in there.

The high-level form of the Blade of Moonlight looks invisible but has immense damage potential.

Its damage to the Evil Faction can be doubled, can disrupt the opponent’s magic, and can even directly seal the opponent’s casting time for a full minute.

Generally speaking, only those favored by Silvermoon can use such a spell.”

Rosero’s expression was so colorful that even Hill couldn’t help but sympathize with this Duke of Demons.

He had been mentally prepared for his lord’s avatar having issues and had even planned to use it to escape, but he never expected Glaysia to concoct such an elaborate story.

Really, from the moment this Moon Blade appeared, Hill understood that Glaysia probably used more than just the Silvermoon Goddess’s adhesive.

Even if very little, she must have used some fragments with Aislin to coagulate moonlight.

Moreover, the Princess of Hell estimated that the entire soul creation used the most devout Moon Follower’s soul slices.

No matter how much of those she used, even if the human souls she used were antagonistic to each other, what does it matter?

They are devout believers! Perhaps even fervent followers.

How could their own lives, their souls, possibly be more important than the resurrection of the Silvermoon Goddess?

The moment those soul fragments realized there might be a chance to coalesce the remnants of the Silvermoon Goddess’s soul, they would completely sacrifice themselves and fully dedicate their souls.

Hill knew Glaysia definitely used the souls of the Silvermoon Devotees, and quite a few at that.

But he never thought that fool wouldn’t place a different type of soul between the two Silvermoon soul slices!

Isn’t that just waiting for them to merge into one?

For the resurrection of their deity, countless followers sacrifice themselves, shed blood, and antagonize the entire world, even offering their family’s future!

Now, it’s so easy. If only their leftover willpower is removed, who can’t manage that?

Although this indeed could allow Glaysia to use Aislin’s own self more easily to control the Silvermoon of this world, perhaps even become the true master of the moon before Silvermoon began to recover.

But did she not consider the chance of an accident?

Hill knew that the second-generation ones were always arrogant; once they acted, regardless of the outcome... yet even the Elven God King, that fool, would contemplate whether his father could save him if he failed!

No matter how arrogant and reckless he appeared, willing to do anything, in reality, he swayed on the threshold set by the gods of Teraxil.

In essence, it was calculation-driven, not overtly underhanded.

Even if he knew that in the world of Teraxil, no one really had the ability to kill him, the Elven God King always kept a fallback plan.

It was also because of this that he eventually overturned at the final stage.

But he truly continued to live freely in Teraxil after causing so much trouble.

Even the resurrected Goddess of the Earth didn’t say much about it.

But Glaysia?

The Asmodier behind her will never help her clean up the mess if she messes it up.

Even if he could bring her back, all her past efforts would be in vain.

This has happened more than once or twice.

Glaysia doesn’t seem to have much memory... Her power has remained the same for millennia because of her small and big blunders over centuries and eons.

Hill shook his head, suddenly realizing something... why Aislin doesn’t seem to be a player in the game.

She was probably an experiment but succeeded unexpectedly.

Moreover, it indeed helped Glaysia condense the moonlight... so she couldn’t be destroyed like the other experimental subjects.

Then Glaysia took advantage of the situation, erased her memory, sealed that weak self, and threw Aislin into the area of the Tower of Dark Enigma.

But to say how much hope was pinned on this incarnation, there was none.

What Aislin could eventually bring back to her, even Glaysia herself wasn’t clear.

She truly is a good daughter of the Lord of Hell.

Symbolically, she seems to be a blend of Hell’s will and Abyssal will.

That habit of conducting experiments casually and then tossing the product around is essentially characteristic of Abyssal will, isn’t it?

If it were the nine layers of hell, even if he is reluctant, he wouldn’t easily toss his failed products out.

At least he must understand that throwing them out would bring him more benefits rather than troubles, then he would choose to release these experiments.

Hill took a deep breath: the purest angel and the purest devil bore a little demon, indeed... ah, pfft!

This is simply laughable to the extreme.

Could the Bottomless Abyss and nine layers of hell be two sides of the same infinity?

Hill always felt that some knowledge that shouldn’t exist had suddenly appeared in his brain, and decided to forever bury this speculation deep in his heart and never mention it again.

These things he could see, those big shots could understand better.

Including Asmodeus himself.

Hill suddenly thought that the Lord of Hell believing the Abyssal will would definitely be willing to cooperate with him to deal with Heavenly Mountain, is not without reason.

Although Heavenly Mountain is indeed a common enemy to both parties, but... when Abyssal will rewards demons, celestial beings and devils are counted as the same level.

Even if Asmodeus tries to use Styx as an intermediary, Hill didn’t think he’d be too angry even if it was unsuccessful.

And this Lord of Hell, typically doesn’t act unless he has ninety percent confidence.

Ugh~ You always end up learning some unwanted new knowledge while out.

”Teacher...” Russell and Carpenter whispered together for a while, finally, with combined efforts, figured out what was happening with Aislin, ”So, now what awoke was the Goddess of the Silvermoon, right?

What about the Princess of Hell?

What about Aislin herself?

I remember the teacher said that in Aislin’s soul, it’s Glaysia who holds the upper hand... then... why isn’t she reacting?

She should be able to feel it, right?”

Hilbert shook his head, smiling wryly: ”From now on, Aislin will be the battleground for both sides.

That burst just now was definitely not the idea of the Silvermoon alone, she was influenced.

And Glaysia is best at igniting the fire of other’s desires.

Originally the Silvermoon was in the shadows, but now, she has come to the forefront.

Look at Rosero’s expression!

He has already figured it out.”

Rosero’s eyes, when looking at Aislin, no longer contained the tolerance and smile they did before... even if it was somewhat fake, it was the most serious expression when a devil showed friendliness.

But now Rosero’s eyes were clearly filled with indifference and vigilance.

The Duke of Demons can indeed hide his expressions, but when they need to show their stance, they are also skilled at using their expressions.

Even if he chose to stay away from the most troublesome battlefield, Rosero is still a hell creature, a loyal subordinate of Glaysia... in hell, someone like Rosero definitely counts as loyal.

Simply avoiding, without thinking of betraying his boss, is what makes a devil the best.

Aislin’s expression herself has been changing constantly.

Though she’s still being aggressive towards Delphus, now every word she speaks is not just for Delphus.

So, the painful one is only Delphus.

He has to maintain the dignity of the Ninth Ring Archmage in front of his subordinates, yet can’t overreact to Aislin’s somewhat abrasive language under Rosero’s watchful eyes... Delphus seems to consider Rosero’s somewhat harsh attitude as directed at him, under such expressions.

He can only carefully twist his words, saying each word with a sarcastic tone, combined with his distorted and ugly face, highlighting the tension in the grand scene...

Clearly it’s a one-sided output, but just by his face, he turned the atmosphere between the two sides into one that’s highly tense, Hill quite admired it.

And made him ponder a bit.

You see, some always think Hill is easy to talk to and deal with, all because he has a neat face, right?

What if he could give himself a fierce enough face?
