Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill glanced at Russell, who was making a resolved decision over there, and softly asked, ”Russell, if you encounter a poor soul like Delphus, what would you do?”

Russell hesitated a bit, but firmly spoke, ”His misery is not because of me.

I pity his fate, but I would never let off anyone who dares to target me because of his tragic situation.

Anyone who can do this to me and get away unscathed can only be an enemy I can’t kill.”

Hill smiled with satisfaction, ”Very good.”

Russell gently exhaled... He didn’t want to lie to his teacher but also didn’t want the teacher to think he was not kind enough.

Fortunately, their teacher’s kindness had its limits, quite different from those kind souls in legendary stories he’s read.

It’s fine not to harm others proactively, but sacrificing oneself to save someone else is something that Russell would never do.

It seems his teacher, despite being kind-hearted, would only extend a hand when he has spare capacity and wouldn’t expect his students or followers to do the same.

The most important thing is always oneself.

Russell once again felt the lesson his teacher wanted him and Carpenter to understand.

But, if he and his sister continue on a path contrary to their teacher after understanding this point, it would naturally mean they no longer are on the same road and being abandoned would be quite natural.

Russell thought calmly: From now on, every decision they make must be well-thought-out before being executed.

Their own interests are important, but whether to disregard the teacher’s position for these interests is the most crucial choice.

Hill looked at Russell, who now grasped the meaning in his words, and said nothing more.

There were some things he intended to say later, but since the timing was right, Hill also sensed a bit of urgency... Aislin’s spaceship is expected to arrive at the location of the Defense Tower in a week.

No matter what battle occurs by then, the final outcome will certainly be some Lord of Dawn sweeping away all the monsters and devils.

As for the Sia Tower at that time, perhaps a beam of moonlight would rise.

A visit from Celene is inevitable; she will certainly want to see just how unfortunate the Moon Goddess truly is.

Hill himself doesn’t know what he will do at that time.

So, these days when he has nothing to do... though Rommel is quite lively, people from Glaysia haven’t come every moment.

Basically, it’s every hour, from noon until the first crescent moon appears.

Sometimes Hill listens to these people exaggerating their gifts to be the best in the universe, with eloquent tongues... But from another perspective, for those living in this world for the first time, those things are probably indeed a first sight.

Including the Ninth Ring Archmage.

Thus, Hilbert is certain that all Archmages, including Ruth, are currently focused on the front of Rommel’s Magic Tower.

Being unable to see beyond the world, their knowledge of rare materials that exceed world limits is indeed lacking.

Even if the boasting from these people is highly inflated, the effects these materials have in various aspects must be true.

The only one injured is Rommel.

Though Hill also feels uncomfortable listening, he constantly corrects the nonsense released by these people... Russell and Carpenter also come to listen and take notes; he does not want his students to retain any incorrect impressions.

But Rommel, who can only murmur to himself with words stuck in his heart, is the most uncomfortable one.

Although his Magic Tower is tightly guarded, the only truly impregnable areas are his study and bedroom.

To prevent Glaysia from not sensing his presence and taking more brainless actions, Rommel’s other Magic Tower regions are only built to the world’s highest level, not his achievable highest level.

These defensive means indeed prevent Glaysia from clearly hearing what he’s saying or seeing his subtle actions, but they don’t prevent the Princess of Hell from sensing where he is and what he’s doing.

Therefore, almost always when leaving his study and bedroom, Rommel has to enter performance mode.

Each time a gift is delivered, even if he doesn’t accept it, he would walk to the Magic Tower gate and show an attitude of attentively listening.

That’s his basic respect towards the Grand Magus Glacia... Rommel, the student from Kamente Tower, must display this.

He refuses to accept Glaysia’s patronage request, but that doesn’t mean Rommel, part of the outside personnel faction of Sia Tower, can disrespect such a powerful Tower Master.

Heh~

Otherwise, why does Hill keep watching over here?

That pertains to the very high demands on Alchemy of Draculus!

He surely feels worse than Hill when he hears the nonsense outside the door... Yet, he can only show no change in expression; no, he even has to show a certain curiosity.

After all, Rommel is also someone with a pursuit in Alchemy; how could he not be curious about materials he’s never encountered?

Whenever thinking about Draculus’ current predicament... why did Hill choose the day Glaysia went to find Rommel to have Russell deliver something to him? It’s because only on the day the Princess of Hell visits in person can Rommel catch a breath of relief.

Every other day, he must come out once an hour to perform the most helpless act of his life.

Hill believes that if Fran were here, he would probably enjoy it too... no one understands the pain of an Alchemist Master better than another Alchemist Master.

Although Glaysia doesn’t understand Rommel, everything she does can significantly stimulate Draculus.

After putting away a multi-colored crystal filled with obvious imagery, Hill quickly replaced the recording crystal under the giant screen before the next white-robed messenger arrived.

Unpacking his small crystal pouch, Hill counted his blank crystals once again... in this period before the outbreak of war, his life’s joy depended entirely on the presence of these little darlings.

Hill has never missed his grandfather as much as he does recently, even more than his longing to return home.

He pondered for a moment and found he could only inquire about the news from the lords of the Elemental Realm.

That Sphere of All Spells of Fran’s, the Element Lords are actually quite concerned about it; back then, several Element Lords of Hill’s asked if he knew the method of making it.

The Element Lords quite liked the splendid scene of holding an orb and being able to shoot off all kinds of spells chaotically.

Unfortunately, the product Hill made for them would turn into a singular Element Sphere in their hands.

After all, the essence of the Sphere of All Spells is that the stored spells all originate from Fran himself.

So, if Fran used his Sphere of All Spells in worlds closely connected with the Elemental Realm, there would always be Element Lords who knew about it.

Of course, if Hill didn’t ask, even if they knew where Fran was, they wouldn’t think of telling Hill.

Hill watched as the white-robed mage gracefully approached on the giant screen, holding a material aloft and loudly shouting, ’This is a rare treasure personally collected by Grand Magus Glaysia from the darkest place, capable of keeping all prying eyes at bay.’

After listening for more than ten minutes, he finally confirmed from the torrent of frenzied praises that this was Erduk Tal Steel... a specialty from the Underdark, naturally possessing resistance to prophecy spells.

Indeed, it can discount the effectiveness of prophecy spells, but if simply made into amulets or similar items, it can at most ward off observations from prophecy mages below high-level.

To ward off high-level, or even legendary prophecy mages, one would either have to live in a house built of Erduk Tal Steel or wear an armor that would never be taken off.

Not to mention how low the yield of this stuff is, even the Spider Queen Rose could only construct a few secret rooms in her spider brood chamber that she didn’t want outsiders to spy on.

Even the matron Zholar overseeing the mining of this Erduk Tal Steel could at most prepare for herself a soft armor interwoven with this metal.

What mage would wear armor made of Erduk Tal Steel?

Without discussing the weight first, Erduk Tal Steel hampers spell casting!

The most harmful thing about this is that it doubles the likelihood of spellcasting failure... the more Erduk Tal Steel used, the higher the failure rate.

However, in a world that might be intricately tied to various prophecies, this stuff indeed draws a lot of attention.

Even Russell couldn’t help but look over.

Hill could only tug on his stiffened lips, explaining to this child the true use of Erduk Tal Steel.

Thankfully, he doesn’t have to endure like Rommel.

-----------------

On Aislin’s spaceship, Delphus finally sat up from the couch... as the degree of his facial distortion visibly increased again, outside Rommel’s Magic Tower, Glaysia arrived once more.

Both wanting to see if Aislin and Rosero could detect a change in Delphus and wanting to see if Glaysia could enter this time, Hilbert frowned in distress.

In the end, he could only straightforwardly raise another giant screen... after all, he wasn’t one to shy away from playing.

At worst, all would be left for Russell in the future.

After all, to prevent some special reactions from happening, when creating these Strange Objects, Hill must include some of this world’s metals and stones.

Otherwise, the winds of this world would especially favor these Strange Objects.

As long as there’s air, small air vortices would form.

The lack of any movement in front of Rommel’s tower is because those things are sealed.

So, Hill is quite eager to see the spectacle of him opening them all at once.

Unfortunately, Rommel should be more aware of these hidden dangers than he is.

Anyway, Hill wouldn’t leave carrying materials of this world... Various materials born from the combination of Styx Force and evil aura, with a faint curse of the earth, are really bothersome to Hill.

That’s why he put Russell in charge of the warehouse in the Magic Tower completely.

Gently reclining on the lounge chair, holding his juice cup, Hill looked at the beautiful scenery ahead with endless joy.
