Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Russell already knows his teacher quite well.

If it really affected his life and death, the teacher would definitely not speak in that tone, nor would he look at him with such a teasing gaze.

Although their interactions were mostly about teaching, the teacher was a rare type who also guided them in their attitude towards life.

And within this teaching, one could see the teacher’s own life principles.

So, Russell understood that even if he went to Archmage Ruth, the most he would face was some kind of social embarrassment... not a life-threatening situation.

The worst would be getting hurt, like a fracture or bruises all over his body.

Russell definitely wouldn’t give up the resource exchange task at the Magic Tower over such trifling issues.

He could actually see from his teacher’s attitude that their teacher was a very wealthy Archmage.

The teacher barely looked at the resources owned by the Magic Tower, and when picking materials for crafting Strange Objects from the resource library, his expression was quite... tolerant.

Others used precious resources to improve their Strange Objects, but their teacher obviously aimed to downgrade the excellent items in his possession.

Just like the airship that was altered beyond recognition by the teacher.

Because of this, Russell was filled with fantasies about the universe beyond the world... although he wasn’t as powerful as the teacher nor did he have the ability to obtain those top-notch treasures.

But on the day he steps into the universe, he would certainly gain some good things, wouldn’t he?

Russell and Carpenter’s greatest sorrow was that, before even reaching adulthood, they seemed to have seen their entire life.

But now, his life was heading toward endless unknowns.

Every step he took, every direction he veered, filled his future with surprises.

This kind of future, Russell was very satisfied.

Carpenter felt the same... she who was once content with simply escaping a life where she chose the most palatable among a heap of trash, finally found her heart’s direction.

Seeing Carpenter looking at the silver metal book in her hands with a face full of earnestness, Russell smiled gently.

Being able to secure such a fantastic future was all thanks to the teacher’s presence, so how could he bother the teacher with trivial matters?

Those materials, which weren’t High-level yet had huge demand, although the teacher could get them without much effort, why make the teacher lift a finger?

Even the act of raising a hand is work.

Furthermore, the teacher would eventually leave this world to follow his own life’s path.

Russell couldn’t possibly start striving only when that time comes, or wait for the teacher to leave him with a mountain of ordinary materials before departing.

Although his face was thick, it wasn’t without limit.

Merely enduring some hardship, Russell was not worried.

Also, Russell could tell from certain behaviors of their teacher that Tower of Dark Enigma might still remain Tower of Dark Enigma in the future.

Even though it seemed to become an annex to Sia Tower, under various influences, Sia Tower was only beginning to pacify, not thoroughly disrupting the tri-tower cycle of Tower of Dark Enigma.

The Tower of Dark Enigma lost, at most, those who were already disloyal or easily swayed, mages with no affection towards Tower of Dark Enigma, who barely impacted its core.

Once the true situation of Sia Tower is revealed, confirming that it’s the culprit responsible for bringing the world to its current state, when everyone knows that the hand behind turning Tower of Dark Enigma into what it is now is Sia Tower, regardless of how many benefits Tower of Dark Enigma garnered from Sia Tower, they can confidently choose to return to their home.

As for whether Archmage Ruth still seeks revenge, that’s a separate matter.

He chose to bring Tower of Dark Enigma to Sia Tower because, at that stage, only by infiltrating this massive faction could he destabilize the rule of Sia Tower from within.

But when Sia Tower itself is weakened sufficiently, Russell doesn’t think the determined Archmage Ruth will opt for hidden actions.

Who wouldn’t prefer open revenge, unleashing all hatred and grievances, than merely being a shadowy avenger?

Not being able to express why one hates.

And Ruth definitely isn’t the type who only wishes to kill without voicing motives, a plotter hiding in shadows.

Since coming to Sia Tower, always silent, merely watching his few students traversing outside was Ruth, compared to others, Russell who had more chances to see him felt the Archmage’s silence laden with pressure.

Ruth evidently suppressed his vendettas with reason.

The Tower of Dark Enigma would certainly regain its independence.

Russell was confident that once everything was settled, his teacher wouldn’t let him and Carpenter continue surviving in this Devil’s Tower.

So, before leaving, he had to first find a way to fill the entire Magic Tower with middle-low rank materials, and then figure out how to fill those storage rings with high-level materials.

Then, build a good relationship with Koyl, who would inevitably be responsible for business diplomacy with the Tower of Dark Enigma.

Russell, through their teacher’s assessment of the Tower of Dark Enigma and his own observations... Hill’s insect-like view and some hidden measures left in the Tower of Dark Enigma weren’t concealed from Russell... it could be confirmed that the Tower of Dark Enigma was the entity connected to the world’s major Magic Towers.

Although they didn’t know how it was done, the Tower of Dark Enigma, the first to bow to Sia Tower, was indeed the center of that mysterious web of connections.

Moreover, Russell had learned from his teacher that in the future, Sia Tower would likely not be as strong as it is now, but it would not completely fall.

It’s just that some stronger enemies would appear.

Then, the Tower of Dark Enigma would truly be the center of the world... as the Great Magic Tower closest to Sia Tower, wouldn’t it inevitably become the primary stronghold after battles?

The importance of the Tower of Dark Enigma would be immensely powerful due to various factors.

Given Koyl’s character, after knowing their teacher’s true identity, he certainly wouldn’t refuse transactions with them.

But whether there was friendship or not could change the speed at which Russell received information.

Russell thought, he couldn’t always go seek help from his teacher far away because of such minor issues like insufficient information, right?

So, he could only choose to face the challenge head-on.

Hill looked at Russell, who was full of determination, and Carpenter sitting beside him, seemingly indifferent to their conversation, yet his fingers pressing on the Magic Book were slightly forceful—the two children were obviously preparing for their future independent lives.

As a teacher, he should be gratified and supportive of their ideas.

So, even knowing the presence of the Undead Tribe in the future would greatly change the world, forcing Russell to rethink his many strategies, Hill nodded with a smile without saying anything.

Since Russell wanted to carve his own path using his capabilities, the changes that didn’t affect him personally were instead the easiest tests for him.

Being able to persist through the various chaotic schemes of the Undead Tribe convinced Hill that no matter what Russell and Carpenter faced in the future, they could remain composed.

Moreover, on the side of the Undead Tribe, Hill’s students were naturally their allies... at most enduring some friendly harassment.

Under the watchful eye of Hill, those among the Undead Tribe with ulterior motives wouldn’t do much... nor would William allow anything to happen under Hill’s nose.

Although there had been some conflicts in the past, when William was still William, Hill had a degree of trust in him.

This was also the reason he supported William’s relationship with Shaer.

As long as William still found Shaer charming, he would remain the William who shared many tacit understandings with Hill.

But if he completely became the Lord of Justice, how could he see Shaer’s charming side?

The mysterious and persistent Lady of the Dark Moon might then transform into the sinister and ruthless Goddess of Darkness.

Hill even thought that the reason the Master of Time and Space, a father figure, had no reaction to his child’s distinctively styled girlfriend was related to this.

After all, the Master of Time and Space was an Innate Deity to some extent; as long as he ignored those Faith Powers, it would be difficult to be influenced.

Like Celene and Lansendel.

Faith was quite important to them, but not enough to shake their true nature.

Although they utilized Faith Power to do some things... it was only for those tasks and not integrating Faith Power into their own strength.

But other deities couldn’t do the same.

William actually had similar hidden issues.

The God of Time and Space not letting him build his own independent Divine Kingdom was likely considering this aspect.

The Divine Power of the God of Time and Space encompassed all the Divine Kingdoms of the Gods of Time and Space, big and small.

Just like the power of the Father of Elves guarded the entire Elf Deity System.

As long as members of the God System didn’t do anything foolish, the apparent pressures and various invasions of power were actually shielded by the strength of the God System’s master.

Almost every Elf God that encountered trouble was because they played themselves out.

William, in the past, was eroded by Faith Power because at that time, he absorbed a vast amount of Faith Power to deify when his foundation wasn’t stable enough... even though he tried to block external factors as much as possible, and the main source of Faith Power came from transactions with the Undead Tribe, those overly complex hidden thoughts slightly influenced him.

This invasion was silent, and even the Master of Time and Space couldn’t do anything, relying solely on William’s will.

Thus, when William officially dated Shaer, the ancient Master of Time and Space had no reaction.

Even though he ended up with a girlfriend he couldn’t stand, this girlfriend greatly helped William himself... A big shot emerging from the harshest era indeed understands adaptability and improvisation the best.
