Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Although feeling a bit awkward because his self-proclaimed Mage Level is again weaker than his Magician Level, Hill didn’t think much of it, as Magician has always been his main attribute.

After all, his path of becoming a Mage was already quite difficult.

It’s just another effort once more.

Although thinking about how others would probably want to strangle him once they find out, for Hill, who finds advancing as a Magician as easy as drinking water, it indeed took tremendous effort to let his Mage Level slightly suppress his Magician Level.

In truth, finally achieving that suppression was because his Magician path had reached a high mountain.

Therefore, even though it’s on autopilot, the mountain is so high and the road so rugged that even though there’s no worry about overturning, it still needs to be traversed slowly.

Moreover, beyond is a series of mountains taller than the last.

Even if he climbs over this mountain today, during the time it takes the magician car to slowly traverse another mountain, it’s enough for Hill to catch up on the Mage path with his ordinary driving skills, maybe even gaining a slight lead.

After all, Hill is truly dedicated in his exploration of the Mage path, completely familiar with all the conditions of the road, and while not as stable as the Magician path, it does have moments of inspiration.

Anyway, he’s already gone through days of pouring his heart out to catch up to his Magician Level. Such sudden incidents like today only move Hill slightly, not enough to upset him.

Besides, his minor emotions don’t even compare to the sight of Shaer and that obviously engaged Celene!

Whatever keeps Aislin immobilized could never be connected to Lansendel.

That guy, though he loves a spectacle, as a paradigm of noble youth, wouldn’t bother a lady in such a way.

Generally speaking, Lansendel seldom humiliates people; he’s more direct in dealing lethal blows.

His taunting words, despite being infuriating, are actually heard only by the extraordinary... either Lansendel’s friends and followers, or enemies he wants but cannot kill.

And, of course, also those who want to kill him but are powerless.

But although Lansendel has enemies across the world and many beings indeed aren’t afraid of him, how many willingness to sit with him for a language exchange?

Even Asmodeus would choose to leave unless necessary.

Otherwise, Hill wouldn’t be so surprised that Asmodeus could manage to linger this long, even though he had planned to give up this world.

Lansendel could seriously fight while asking such vile questions like what was his state of mind when leaving the Heavenly Mountain for Hell.

He can maintain his composure and utter immensely infuriating words to both Shaer and Celene when they are sitting together, a truly unmatched powerhouse!

AO would sigh at the Lord of Dawn’s incredible bravery upon hearing such.

But in truth, being favored by Tai Ji and initially gaining communication from both the Goddess of Luck Tymora and the Goddess of Misfortune Benshasha shows Lansendel actually has very good cultivation... don’t think it’s just due to powerful divine power to find a way to remerge those two.

Even if he belongs to Tai Ji, if those two goddesses themselves don’t approve of Lansendel, their relationship with this Lord of Dawn wouldn’t be harmonious.

Lansendel seldom takes any action towards those not provoking him or not on his path... It’s just that his love for adventure and curiosity about secrets and mystic realms causes many to inadvertently provoke him.

That’s why Toril people believe Dawn Believers are everywhere, stirring up trouble around.

Those truly peaceful, staying at home, won’t find Dawn Believers out of place.

But people like that, unless lucky to meet an exceedingly powerful and merciful lord... Silvermoon City is relatively prosperous in Toril, with fairly tolerant consecutive lords, yet it still gets rebuilt time and again!

Sitting at home without going out, only for disasters from the sky is too ordinary for Toril people.

Leading the people there to tightly grasp opportunities... but, accordingly, for them, emotions become luxury.

The many entanglements of affection love intertwined in paths affecting world futurity aren’t due to mere understanding of love, but because only these strong beings have the privilege to discuss whether it’s love or not.

Even in the past, with Midnight and Kranvo, when forming their adventure squad, they were High-level Professionals!

Being manipulated by fate and calculated by deities still requires qualifications.

So in Toril, Hill rather deal with Lansendel... William too, among many deities giving him good favor, only letting Lansendel into the core.

It’s because they both understand that although Lansendel is full of faults, he seldom calculates those who can’t affect him.

So Shaer’s comment that ’she can’t move’ implies Celene did something.

That Maiden of the Moon is not a patient presence.

The only reason she didn’t immediately appear beside Aislin to yank the Silvermoon Goddess from Aislin’s soul is that she’s troubling Asmodeus.

After all, seeing Aislin and it clearly being Glaysia’s work.

Even if Asmodeus is unaware, in Celene’s eyes, who has always been cautious of evil forces, this is the black hand of the Lord of Hell reaching for the moon.

Celene, by nature, only cares about results... In other words, regardless of whether he knows or not, since Hell benefits, then the Lord of Hell must be the mastermind behind it.

No matter how much Asmodeus declares this was Glaysia’s whimsical move, and that he was kept in the dark, it doesn’t make a difference.

If Celene wants to hit you, she’ll hit you. Finding an acceptable reason is already giving a lot of face to the Lord of Hell!

Seems like she’s planning to vent her anger first, and consider the solution later.

Indeed, compared to Shaer, it’s Celene who’s more touched upon the taboo... It’s probable that she’s aware of Shaer’s past schemes too.

Hill turned his head to look at the two awkwardly standing on the enormous screen and asked, puzzled, ”Honorable Lady of the Night, wasn’t it two against one? Why is it taking so long?”

”Just call me Shaer.” Shaer gave him a gentle look, ”Haven’t you always called William by his name?”

A surge of emotions suddenly arose in Hill’s heart... Damn, is this entering the bridal chamber or what? Is it?

Aaaaah~ Aaaaah!

When in Toril, William and Shaer had already confirmed their relationship as a couple, but back then, Shaer only acted kindly towards Hill... that was the privilege given to a boyfriend’s friend.

Although friendly, there was a distance.

But now... she’s actually allowing Hill to call her by her name!

This can only mean that in Shaer’s heart, she and William are family!

So, William’s friends are her friends too.

No, it should be said their relationship is stable enough to intervene in each other’s social circles!

A surge of strong indignation and a bit of bitterness arose in Hill’s heart... Though he didn’t mind being an archmage all his life, seeing the guy next door successfully marrying a young bride really makes him quite unhappy!

Why are you the only star?

Honestly... the more he thought about it, the angrier he got.

Hill gently pursed his lips, managing a rare stiff smile, ”It’s my honor, Shaer.”

He would definitely not refuse Shaer’s rare gesture of kindness... after all, this lady absolutely doesn’t welcome actions that disrespect her goodwill.

She doesn’t do fake politeness.

Shaer nodded happily... she knew Hill was always very clever and must have understood a lot from her words.

So, Shaer didn’t mind Hill’s slightly odd expression at all.

She had heard from William that although in human years Hill counts as an adult, in reality, his mental age isn’t even calculated by the elf’s 110 years of adulthood.

The maturity of the Earth Bear comes even later.

For example, Aurelio, who is now the acting clan leader, counts his age in thousands, but compared to mother bears, he prefers amusement parks.

Every few years, he sneaks off to an amusement park run by the Undead Tribe, swearing to eat through all their food stalls.

So Hill is one of those children who understands everything, but always feels that love is a waste of time.

At any rate, this kid has a long life, good luck, and won’t run into any major dangers... Although his sudden disappearance worries many, from the behavior of his Nature Companions remaining in Teraxil and those Tower Spirits, it seems he’s just encountered some trouble.

Therefore, although surprised that it’s Hill peeping at the battlefield, Shaer wasn’t overly astonished to see him here.

With this kid’s luck, encountering something related to his birthplace isn’t unusual.

If it weren’t for Hill’s very clear bloodline origins, Shaer sometimes couldn’t help but wonder if this kid isn’t of Lansendel and Tai Ji’s bloodline.

You must know, though that Great Peacock seems enthusiastic and friendly, to have a first impression of someone so high, even though Hill left Toril, it’s quite rare for him to still occasionally mention him.

After all, Hill isn’t his believer and has clearly shown disapproval of some of his actions.

Although Lansendel is friendly to friends, the friends he acknowledges are always of the same ilk as him... He would never look at Lansendel with that ’you’re at it again’ expression.

Hill suddenly felt a bit of a chill all over, nervously glancing around.

As expected, sensitive to a frightful degree... Shaer smiled slightly, ”Asmodeus somehow caught Mephistopheles and even seized some dirt on him.

Otherwise, why would Lansendel spar with him for this long?”
