Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill had no opinion on Aislin’s struggles, nor was he surprised by her nearly mad gambles... Humans in the multiverse, and even most deities, are struggling for survival.

Including the powerful Lord of Hell, Asmodeus, who also almost became someone else’s tool for destruction.

His descent into Hell was the only path he could find that neither twisted his principles nor required him to grovel.

Any means taken for survival, even if Hill disagrees or fails to comprehend them, he won’t belittle them.

The moment the fantastical seed was planted in the multiverse, it set in motion everyone’s inevitable fate.

This included Hill and his Teraxil.

Though the presence of the World Tree allowed them a somewhat comfortable existence, Teraxil nearly faced its doom!

Even if William and the God of Time and Space adorned the world with blooming prosperity, if someday a mighty foe who dismisses the World Tree’s vengeance emerges, none would be able to withstand it.

Every deity and powerhouse in the multiverse carries a hint of madness, all due to this uncertain future.

Of course, one doesn’t need to become as great a deity as AO, as a mage, reaching the heights of Elminster would guarantee a path even if their world faced destruction.

The starry sky is still free.

Yet, despite never having interacted with the mighty Old Mage, Hill doubts he’d forsake Toril.

If Elminster were truly cold and unfeeling, he wouldn’t have gained Xinbu’s affection or the respect of most mages in Toril.

Those who are self-centered, indifferent to their world, like those Lich Kings... They cannot escape the bonds of their world like Elminster.

Even living in the Stellar Realm, it’s still Toril’s Stellar Realm.

In their cruel and greedy lives, they’ve obtained countless rare treasures and Artifacts of Law from Toril.

The longer they live, the more they consume, the tighter Toril’s bind becomes.

By then, they can no longer leave like external mages who leave at the cost of items they carry away.

Unlike Elminster, they’ve never contributed anything to Toril... And as danger looms, Toril grasps every hope tightly; how could it possibly let them go?

Even if they can’t do much, they can be used as shields.

AO, who was once the God of Order, excelled in setting such laws of equivalent exchange... Trapping people deep in pits progressively was their forte.

The God of Order occupied the Heavenly Mountain for so long; those few times they fell victim were either by AO, their kin, or by unlucky fellows like Asmodeus, who knew them well.

Otherwise, the Abyssal Will wouldn’t have effortlessly reached an understanding with Asmodeus... Although he devoured several deities of the Heavenly Mountain, every apparent success came with the opponent’s hook.

The end result often led to a massive explosion in the Abyss.

The Abyssal planes lost due to these explosions long exceeded the power he gained from swallowing those deities.

Furthermore, what infuriated the Abyssal Will was that the opponent sacrificed those unfortunate souls they already intended to discard... The God of Order would never allow another group of Battle Angels in the Heavenly Mountain.

Yet what they got in return was heavy casualties for the Abyssal Will!

Most importantly, the Heavenly Mountain would express these words so clearly that even the Abyssal Will, often slow to react to speech, could understand.

Even if the old man didn’t like speaking or thinking, it didn’t mean he wouldn’t care about being mocked by those bastards!

Being able to give the God of Order of the Heavenly Mountain a heavy slap, venting the anger of tens of thousands of years, the Abyssal Will might temporarily tolerate the nine layers of hell which caused great losses.

Of course, Hill could understand these matters due to his foresight... And the Abyssal Will’s speech, however brief, was filled with hatred when sending demon prince-led troops.

Otherwise, considering all the books Hill read over the years, he couldn’t have imagined that the Abyssal Will would hate the Heavenly Mountain more than devils.

After all, the bloody battle was constant year after year.

Yet devils rarely visited the Heavenly Mountain, mostly due to accidentally opening a Dimensional Gate.

Thinking of this, Hill suddenly looked up to the Rose Radiance that wouldn’t descend... Could it be?

A diversion?

Lansendel’s arrival indeed attracted much of the multiverse’s attention... In that case, some movements in Hell and the Abyss might be overlooked.

In the original history, everything was centered on the repeatedly dying and transformatively dying Toril’s Goddess of Magic, drawing the multiverse’s gaze.

However, the current Toril’s Goddess of Magic, although her Path of Destiny is intriguing, proceeds quite smoothly.

Already Edna, she is no longer Cyric’s primary enemy.

The guy’s current target must be the Grim Reaper of the Netherworld and his little wife.

However, with Jacob in the Land of the Reaper, Cyric doesn’t have the ability to come and go freely.

Moreover, to be honest, with Midnight losing the position of the Goddess of Magic, much of Cyric’s grudge has likely diminished.

Even in the original history, when Midnight was resurrected for the second time, almost becoming a puppet, Cyric no longer endlessly battled with her, the Goddess of Magic.

He had already aimed his sights directly at AO, intending to achieve the most fundamental principle in his Cyrine Scripture: Cyric should be the supreme ruler of the Toril World.

AO isn’t worried about a madman like Cyric, and quite likes him actually... after all, he is very useful.

Moreover, whatever Cyric may be, the divine authority he received was still divided from Jacob’s hands; as long as there’s no better replacement, AO absolutely won’t let him die.

Compared to letting Jacob regain great divine power, AO prefers to solve the small troubles caused by Cyric’s madness.

Just like now, although on the surface Cyric is being hunted by Shuni and her allies and ’friends,’ forcing him to hide immobile in that very secretive Divine Kingdom... It’s said that when Hill left Toril, he finally understood the extent of the Red-Haired Lady’s vast network.

The previously undetectable, even by Midnight and Tyr’s combined efforts, Cyric’s Divine Kingdom couldn’t escape Shuni’s search.

Plus, Shuni didn’t even make a public appearance during this assault.

It was just a group of deities, big and small, wanting to avenge their grieving friend, who attacked that Divine Kingdom.

But everyone knows, without the Red-Haired Lady mediating, these good, neutral, and evil deities couldn’t possibly work together?

Neutral is one thing, but some of those good and evil ones are outright enemies!

Cyric, though crazy, is not stupid.

Knowing he would get beaten if he showed his head, he didn’t hesitate to sacrifice one-fifth of the Divine Kingdom and once again fled randomly.

Of course, it was also because Shuni’s ’friends’ cooperated but didn’t trust each other enough that allowed Cyric to escape so easily.

Otherwise, the Lord of Lies would have had to leave at least half his Divine Kingdom behind.

In any case, Shuni still managed to reclaim part of her lost face with this method.

Hill shook his head, gathering his scattered thoughts back.

Mainly, at this stage, under the vast Rose Radiance where everyone understood Lansendel might appear at any moment, Aislin, who occupied the soul temporarily, wasn’t willing to fight that fully armed priest-like Dawn Believer.

Yet Delphus’s eyes seemed to venomously fixate on a person inside the curtain of light, not even noticing the already emerged formidable enemy.

Hill suspected that person might be the one who once competed with Delphus for the position of Family Head and had set him up to enter the Sia Tower.

Delphus, who had once destroyed his own family, probably had no idea that the opponent hadn’t died.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t wear such an expression of ’I want to destroy the whole world.’

Heh~ and now, not a fool, Delphus has begun to wonder what the hell his life has been all about.

Hill, having investigated Delphus’s story, also knew he had once emphasized upon his triumphant return that all those who had wronged him had been turned to ash after their corpses rotted in the wilderness, with nothing left but soul annihilation.

Hill figured he wasn’t so blind as to misidentify who he killed.

But if he used the ’Order Jewel’ in his hand to kill, then whether the fire was intended to burn people or teleport them away, can’t be certain.

Of course, not everyone could have been saved, but the family’s future, the true heir, surely could have been.

Tsk tsk~

Those who play tactics have a dirty mind... Lansendel’s Chosen ones are basically all tacticians.

Even though Delphus’s nature is genuinely detestable, at this moment, even Hill couldn’t help but feel a little sympathetic towards him.

The look of disbelief and incredulity, even rubbing his eyes with lifted hands, made Delphus appear foolish.

Hill exhaled softly.

The awkward atmosphere on the giant screen was finally interrupted by the curious Dawn Believer: ”How did you think of using the Order Jewel to burn this abandoned tower?

I’ve really put a lot of effort into ensuring that this camp’s Magic Array remains hidden from all sorts of Magic Attacks.

If there wasn’t an absolutely unsolvable Magic Array, I wouldn’t have set my lord’s Blazing Fire as the key.

I never imagined someone would actually use this fire to burn a ruin one day.

Can you tell me exactly what you were thinking?”
