Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Although he tended to chalk Glaysia’s IQ up to skipping-a-generation inheritance... coming from that hardheaded former King of Hell, Bisozeya’s father, who died together with the Abyssal King.

But she was still his own flesh and blood.

Asmodeus actually more or less understood why Glaysia was nothing like him... a newly born Angel is born utterly blank.

Aside from top-tier aptitude, everything else has to be learned later.

But Bisozeya wasn’t like that; she was a pure Devil lifeform from the start, so Glaysia was bound to resemble this Princess of Hell more—at most with talent far superior to Hell’s Royal Family.

Asmodeus had never actually failed to grasp this back then; it was just that Bisozeya had given him confidence.

Her excessive pride was a bit of a hassle, but Asmodeus felt he could shoulder that kind of arrogance.

What he hadn’t expected was that genetics could be so unbelievable... Glaysia actually managed to collect every single flaw of the former Hell’s Royal Family into herself.

She was even more reckless than her daredevil grandfather.

The reason Asmodeus didn’t care about Glaysia hanging around with Mamon was that he never cared much about any successor in the first place.

As King of Battle Angels, he was quite confident about this whole ”my existence will surely be eternal” thing.

Heirs and such were mainly for Devils to look at; they were never truly that important.

Otherwise, his Battle Angels wouldn’t constantly ignore the existence of Glaysia and Bisozeya.

There was no being that Asmodeus did not dare or could not use; Glaysia was not without her uses.

Unfortunately, everything collapses in the face of comparison.

If he hadn’t seen it, fine—but it just had to play out right under his nose.

Most crucially, those two beams of light would occasionally let out laughter that made Asmodeus very clear... Lansendel and Celene were enjoying the show immensely.

Even this Lord of Hell, whose heart was usually as still as dead water, rarely stirring even a ripple, couldn’t help feeling a faint, strange sourness at this moment.

It even made him almost give up on resurrecting Bisozeya and then persuading her to have another child... Glaysia’s temperament and performance simply couldn’t let those traitors in Hell swallow their pride and support her as king.

Those scumbags lurking beneath the surface—if they didn’t come out and do something nasty—then as the Lord of Hell who had once publicly promised not to casually lay hands on ”honest” Devils, he shouldn’t be the one to strike first.

And anyone who could avoid leaving traces even under Fengo’s kind of tight surveillance had to be quite good at hiding themselves.

Asmodeus disliked being on the passive side, so he was genuinely willing to give that lot a very satisfactory excuse.

Of course, this was also a double-edged sword.

If that child really turned out to be very capable... more ruthless than Asmodeus himself, with unmatched schemes, then his own fate could only be to fall.

But if, after all these extra years of life, his cunning and capability still lost to a newborn offspring whose bloodline wasn’t pure enough and whom Hell Consciousness wouldn’t even actively accept, then Asmodeus... heh~

How could that be possible?

Flatly refusing to curse himself, Asmodeus cut the thought off at once.

He crisply issued an order to Fengo in his consciousness, telling him to find a way to get that disgraceful black sphere away from Hill’s feet... that kid really was capable; his calculation skills weren’t bad at all.

When the Black Tower collapsed, Glaysia just so happened to bounce right back to land in front of Hill’s feet.

While Glaysia’s head was still ringing and she couldn’t speak, better to get her out of here sooner!

Asmodeus, who knew Lansendel and Celene fairly well, was keenly aware... those two were definitely laughing and recording at the same time right now.

-----------------

Fengo felt their master was making things hard on a useless subordinate like him.

If he had the guts to chatter in front of this man, he’d have already grabbed Glaysia and flown off with her!

Though that lord looked perfectly at ease... who knew how many Divine Artifacts on him were glaring at Fengo with murderous intent!

The Hell Prosecutor didn’t even dare let his eyes linger on His Highness Hill for more than a moment, afraid the other would get the idea that this little piece of trash wanted to do something he shouldn’t, and just smite the fiend on the spot.

Although Fengo’s position in Hell looked pretty secure and celebrated, he was still one of those who could be killed.

That was something he would never forget.

Just now he’d dared to speak so casually only because, at that moment, Glaysia had merely violated His Highness Hill’s ear taboo; it hadn’t yet reached the point where the other really wanted to kill her.

But now, even knowing His Highness Hill was Coron’s blood descendant, Glaysia had still openly displayed disrespect toward the Father of Elves right to his face... and of course, what truly enraged him was... that lust-dazed look on Glaysia’s face.

Although he had already agreed to Asmodeus’s request to spare Glaysia, how he spared her, when he spared her—clearly still had room for deliberation.

His Highness Hill seemed to really dislike people trying to read his face.

Hmm?

Fengo suddenly thought of something.

It seemed that some news from Toril had mentioned similar incidents... His Highness Hill was willing to acknowledge Coron’s existence, but he loathed the Teraxil Elf King who had passed that bloodline on to him.

He let out a soft sigh, fortunately Princess Glacia didn’t know any of this.

For the first time, Fengo was genuinely grateful for Glaysia’s carefree, heartless nature; otherwise, she’d absolutely be able to say one sentence that would have the other side at her throat forever.

Right now, he actually still had a bit of room to maneuver... As things stood, the scheme to expand Sia Tower had thoroughly failed, and the Tower of Dark Enigma had already lost its value.

Anyway, when Lansendel and Celene descend, that Ruth—who is definitely all buddy-buddy with the Defense Tower—will inevitably make his departure public.

After all, Sia Tower is the Devil’s Tower!

Even if he’d known that back then, no one knew that he knew.

Tsk~

”Mr. Hill, look... compared to forcing Princess Glacia not to insist that Mr. Rommel return to Hell with her, wouldn’t it be better to let him decide his own fate?

” Fengo weighed his words carefully and asked cautiously, ”Besides, the current Tower of Dark Enigma probably isn’t too willing to continue staying within our Devils’ sphere of influence... if Archmage Ruth and the others want to leave, or want to do something...

You see, we will absolutely not do anything we shouldn’t to affect their decision.”

Hill couldn’t help but let out a laugh: ”You think you can stop them?

Asmodeus probably won’t descend to this world again, right?

Although Archmage Ruth’s strength isn’t enough to suppress you Dukes of Demons, Gilbert has no such problem!

With him standing behind the Tower of Dark Enigma, even if you want to block them, you can’t.”

Hill very straightforwardly exposed the existence of Gilbert, Envoy of the Styx.

He might not care what those acquaintances from the Tower of Dark Enigma thought of him, but he still didn’t want them assuming he was a murderer.

After all, although this period of interaction had been full of scheming and mutual probing, overall it had been fairly pleasant.

More importantly, Hill was not going to let this evasive, roundabout Fengo treat Gilbert’s existence as some secret leverage to threaten him in the dark.

Maybe Fengo wasn’t threatening him, just hinting that he’d keep the secret for Hill’s sake... but what would that amount to?

Hill had long since fulfilled his agreement with the Styx; as for the rest... he couldn’t be bothered.

Those were Gilbert’s concerns.

In this world, the only ones he needed to concern himself with were Russell, and Carpenter as an add-on.

Fengo let out a soft breath... it seemed this His Highness Hill and the Styx were only in temporary cooperation and had not formed any kind of formal alliance.

That was enough.

Once it was confirmed that Gilbert had been impersonating this Highness, this much time was more than enough for the Hell Prosecutor to connect all the causes and consequences... especially that Black Robe who had been completely unharmed under the Hainarson Magic Ballista’s attack.

But once it was made clear that that Envoy of the Styx was Gilbert, and combined with the fact that His Highness had never shown any abnormal Soul detection, Fengo immediately began to doubt the other party’s stance.

Coming into this world to make trouble for their Devils purely because Hell had tried to strike at Teraxil, and entering into a formal Alliance between the World Tree Pantheon and the Styx—those were very different things!

Although when he went back this time he would inevitably be punished for discovering nothing, at least he would be bringing back one proper piece of intel that Asmodeus would definitely want to know.

Fengo couldn’t help glancing at the elegant and courteous Hill... for someone who could speak of all this so lightly, it was obvious that he had not begged the Styx to help conceal his existence.

The reason his Soul Mark had no issues was that the Styx had taken the initiative to help.

And that Styx is the one that doesn’t give a damn about anything, that only reacted a little after its own tributaries were cut off for tens of thousands of years!

Ah... although it might be because the relationship between the World Tree and the Styx was relatively amicable, it still took this Highness being outstanding enough for the Styx to even know who he was!

Their own... Fengo stared at Glaysia, sitting there woozy, her gaze unable to help drifting dazedly to Hill’s face, having completely failed to realize that Fengo was using her beloved to bring up the matter of a deal again, and he took another deep, deep breath.

It’s fine; anyway, His Majesty Asmodeus will inevitably be Hell’s one and only King for all eternity, and never need to consider the problem of an heir.

Cheering himself on once more, Fengo brought up the previous topic in a firm tone: ”But you’ve already promised my Lord that you wouldn’t hold anything against Princess Glacia anymore, haven’t you?

Then, since we’ve parted ways amicably, why keep entangling things?

Princess Glacia and I will leave this world immediately and not return for a hundred years...”

Glaysia, finally snapping back to her senses, only caught the last sentence; she immediately shouted, ”That won’t do, unless Rommel leaves with me.”

Hill sprang up lightly and retreated a thousand meters away... even though he knew stupidity wasn’t contagious, he was still a little worried.
