Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Russell’s mouth couldn’t help but twitch a little.

He is now even more certain that Rommel is someone it’s best to avoid.

Although their teacher is sometimes a little unorthodox, in essence, he is fair to people and things, and has the ability to feel others’ pain and sorrow. Even if he cannot empathize, he would still offer some sympathy and help.

Russell believes that in their world, even true deities cannot achieve that.

Even when it came to someone as disagreeable as Aislin, upon discovering her tragic fate, their teacher couldn’t help but lend her a hand.

Though afterward, he didn’t do much and after some time, liked dealing with Aislin even less than when she first came to the Sia Tower.

But Russell can be sure, it must have been that person who never understood humans like Aislin stirred some issue that their teacher was unwilling to accept.

Russell couldn’t imagine a problem more discomforting than the Princess of Hell possessing and contesting for control over one’s soul, but he would never doubt their teacher’s judgment.

From the beginning up to now, Rommel is the only one whom the teacher has ever mocked wholeheartedly, regarding their relationship solely as transactional.

When their teacher looked at Rommel’s miserable situation, even while laughing wildly, he showed no sympathy or hesitation.

Russell knew this only proved that in their teacher’s heart, between Glaysia and Rommel, the one truly at a disadvantage isn’t Rommel.

Exactly how much of his current embarrassment is real, maybe even the teacher can’t determine.

But the teacher can assert that the proportion of truth is definitely smaller.

This is truly a performing genius.

And such an existence is not something Russell can sympathize with. The only thing he can do is to carefully observe Rommel’s possible errors and learn from the terrifying acting prowess shown by a blank face and extremely detailed movements.

As a noble, Russell naturally has seen what is called acting, but only real-life performance can be so shockingly terrifying.

How is it done?

Hill slightly turned his head and said lightly to Russell whose expression changed very noticeably: ”That’s an old monster who has lived long.

He’s seen more people and things than all the people in your whole world.

You don’t need to learn from him.

A life model like his is something a slightly sentimental person cannot accept.”

”But, teacher...” Russell asked in confusion, ”Since you know it’s all acting, why do you still record the whole thing?”

”You know, I know, the whole world knows it can’t change the fact that he indeed presented such a performance,” Hill replied happily, ”Driving him to perform to such an extent is already rare to see.

So, it’s not all devoid of truth, like that embarrassed expression earlier, it was genuine.

Even if slightly exaggerated.”

”Then... he truly hasn’t... touched...” Russell simply cannot believe anyone could do such a thing for tens of thousands of years... Ah, that stuff.

”Almost~” Hill recalled Draculus’s history, ”When he was interested in such things, attractive women around him were basically untouchable.

When he had power, influence, and capability, he fell in love with alchemy.

Without love, alchemy can solve all problems.”

Draculus had said before that he embarked on the path of the mage due to receiving the elf mage’s guidance... And elf mages aren’t rangers; they rarely appear alone.

Given the need to compete for survival space with magical beasts, elves wouldn’t appear even in small teams.

After all, the magical beasts at that time had already been manipulated by the Chief Orc God; compared to the Teraxil people, their primary targets were definitely elves.

Clearly, the elves hoped to nurture the Teraxil people so they could form a wall in front of them. Therefore, Draculus encountered at least an elf squad.

Hill doesn’t think, with the presence of elf women around, Draculus’s eyes could still see those women newly rescued from savagery like him.

After all, he was young then, unless there was a childhood sweetheart, otherwise... Falling in love with more beautiful and stronger existences is human nature.

Even that God of Nobility from Teraxil isn’t any different!

Although there was a devoted companion by his side, he himself actually knew who he loved more, but when encountering elf deities, he occasionally wavered.

The reason the Goddess of Love criticized him is indeed true.

He might not have taken any substantive actions, but his heart and soul certainly wavered.

Even when deities tell lies, they use a certain amount of truth to cover the biggest falsehoods, rather than not saying any truth at all.

Although Draculus appeared later than the God of Nobility, he generally belonged to the same era.

Therefore, Hill can understand that he truly did not indulge in love while young... His eyes saw the most beautiful scenery, and being smart enough, discovered those sceneries were only for looking afar, approaching would lead to complete disappointment.

Members of the Elven God King’s kin offer no hope at all.

Their eyes were probably raised all the way to their eyebrows.

Although some elves would fall in love with humans, they definitely wouldn’t fall in love with the ordinary people they rescued from the barbarian lands.

Those who show kindness to humans have exceptional character.

The spell-learning experience of Draculus must have been quite painful.

And when he could finally control his own life, pursuing those beautiful landscapes... when he could beckon an elf lover with just a gesture, he was already too understanding of human nature to muster any interest.

Spells and alchemy are his eternal lovers.

Of the mages who have lived long enough to continually enjoy the flames of love, Hill knows only one, Elminster.

Most people, even if they still enjoy certain pleasures, find it hard to invest any real emotion.

Russell pondered for a long time before realizing what it meant that alchemy could solve all problems, instantly making his expression odd, casting a significant glance at Hilbert.

Then he was met with a sudden hit from a metal tabletop.

”Ouch, that hurt!” Russell looked at the heavy tabletop, ”Teacher, is this fine steel?”

The last time the fine iron table broke, their teacher said it was too useless and switched to something else.

It turned out to be fine steel.

Moreover, upon careful examination, Russell noticed that compared to the so-called refined fine steel in the warehouse, what the teacher used was obviously much stronger.

This thing was probably a hundred times more durable than the fine iron table, right?

He was a bit confused yet shocked, watching the mess beside Hilbert... It was still just a slap!

Hill didn’t realize what had shocked Russell... For him, fine steel and fine iron were already indistinguishable.

He simply didn’t expect Glaysia to perform such a typical domineering CEO falling for a delicate flower scenario so swiftly.

Once Draculus and the delicate flower were equated, no wonder Hill was laughing like a bear pancake.

He said a bit regretfully, ”Actually... I wish...”

But he still couldn’t say it out loud... Although Hill kind of wished Lansendel would come later, he still understood that the sooner that one arrived, the sooner this world might find a hope for liberation.

Rosero and Aislin took Delphus to the Defense Tower absolutely not without any ulterior motives... whether the Battle Angel following them was still around, no one knew.

Even if he knows deep down that his scheme failed, Asmodeus wouldn’t be entirely without struggle.

And what he wants to do is bound to be harmful to this world.

Hill does want to continue watching the spectacle, but he absolutely wouldn’t say this aloud... Although Hill never admits he has a jinxed mouth, he does have some sense of it.

Hilbert looked at Russell: ”Clean this place up, then call Carpenter over.

You can begin learning the next steps of constructing the Magic Tower.”

Awhile ago, Hill already completed the foundation of the Starry Sky Magic Tower with two kids... that metal artwork was crafted during that time.

Judging by Russell’s performance, he should have digested that knowledge well enough and can proceed with learning the next step.

Perhaps because most arrays of the Starry Sky Magic Tower are rooted in protective spells, Russell’s learning progress is swift.

Of course, this is also due to his solid foundation.

Even Carpenter, who’s slightly less adept, though studies slower, has grasped about six-tenths already. While she can’t construct independently yet, she can handle basic repairs.

Hill finds teaching enjoyable.

Carpenter arrived quickly... She mainly stayed in her room to avoid distractions.

Her will isn’t as steady and concentrated as Russell’s.

Then, as soon as she entered the room, she couldn’t help but curiously gaze at the new table beside her teacher... marveling at the beauty of its patterns, curiosity arose within Carpenter about the ultimate limit of their teacher’s fists.

She wondered if she might ever witness her teacher unleashing the full power of his hands.

Surely, he could disassemble a tower barehanded, right?

This time, Hill mixed a bit of glass steel and living gold into that fine steel table... Fine steel’s hardness was at 14, and when its thickness reached one meter, it could slightly withstand a casual smack.

But during fits of laughter, Hill couldn’t guarantee every slap he gives is light enough, so this time he embedded the surface with glass steel of hardness 20.

This pushed the table’s protective capacity above 17, plus the self-repairing living gold, a little friction shouldn’t be a problem.

He must teach his students properly now, can’t keep switching tables.
