Surviving The Fourth Calamity

As the true Goddess of Darkness, Shaer knew the greatest weakness of Aislin’s body: ”Using those two powers simultaneously is possible, but it would cause the body to break down very quickly.

Just the Power of the Moon alone is probably too much for that body to handle, let alone with the Power of the Sun...

Hmm?

So you’re planning to involve the Styx.

Constitution means nothing to the Styx.

But in that case...you’re planning to erase those three chaotic souls and make this body a living tool, aren’t you?

That indeed is something the Styx is good at.”

Hill blinked.

Lansendel nodded and then shook his head: ”Erase the soul consciousness of Glaysia and that Silvermoon, and send the already formed human soul into the Styx.

Though that soul is oddly condensed, she is after all a genuine soul connected to the Law.

The Law recognizes her existence; I won’t casually erase such a soul.”

Shaer displayed a polite smile that was clearly insulting.

Lansendel obviously knew Shaer was insulting him, but since she hadn’t said it aloud, he could pretend she was just bored and smiling.

He wasn’t as sensitive as Shaer, right?

So he directly clarified: ”Celene, Aislin, aren’t you flustered right now?

In dire need of a life-saving straw?”

Celene nodded a bit dazedly... so, Lansendel planned to become that hero of salvation?

Playing the hero to rescue beauty with such women, what good does it do?

Aislin, although not as unfathomable as Glaysia, clearly isn’t someone devoutly single-minded in love, either!

As soon as Lansendel leaves, I bet she shifts her target.

Celene’s expression was too evident, and Shaer burst into laughter...three parts sarcastic, three parts venomous, and one part genuinely joyful.

Lansendel silently took a breath... communicating with Celene was truly difficult.

Some things, how could he possibly say so clearly?

He also has a reputation to maintain, alright?

Then, he whispered softly: ”Aislin can’t continue to remain in the Mortal World.

She belongs to this world, and she can’t go to my Divine Kingdom... so, staying in the Styx, serving as our eyes monitoring this intermediary, is her best outcome.

We can’t have paid so much and let the Styx take all the benefits, yet can’t ensure this world won’t spawn another dual core Sun and Moon as our enemy, right?

The Styx can’t stop us from leaving a pair of eyes in this world!

Shaer’s laughter grew more rampant this time.

Lansendel could only choose to remain expressionless and ignore it... fortunately, Celene didn’t question his reasoning.

To her, that reasoning was already enough.

Celene has always prioritized self-preservation, ignoring other matters.

As for the Lady of the Night’s sarcasm, Lansendel could only accept it with magnanimity.

No choice, Shaer had already figured out what he was up to, why he suddenly became so righteous, as if Tyr had arrived.

But Celene was still thoroughly confused, not understanding why Aislin’s soul must exist... because Aislin, whose integrity as a soul relies on their goodwill, belongs to this world, yet her soul originated from an invader using the Divine Crystal of the Goddess of the Silvermoon, which brought disaster to this world. Even if she stays in the Styx, she’d inevitably side with the one who showed her kindness, Lansendel.

Of course, if this Aislin were a staunchly resolute entity standing firmly on her world’s side, Lansendel’s schemes would be for naught, however... someone who allowed such a weak soul as the Goddess of the Silvermoon’s to grow from mere ethereal dust during her time as the main soul to contend with Glaysia’s soul, what kind of will would she have?

When Glaysia’s soul was half-asleep, Silvermoon couldn’t even make an appearance!

Lansendel and Shaer were always adept at using people like Aislin, but Celene... a being without enough resolve, how would she deal with her?

Even without much will, one doesn’t send oneself to death that way.

There was another one, presumably bewildered by Lansendel’s plan, probably lost in thought with a blank expression—Hill.

This child, despite being quite smart and clever, still falls short in scheming, moreover, when rescuing others, he only thought of it as saving them, likely never considering that helping others could accomplish two goals with one action.

But Lansendel was never such a kindhearted existence who pays a price yet gains nothing in return.

If he personally takes action, even if the primary goal is his own world, he must reclaim some interest.

If Aislin’s body were turned into this tool, even though Aislin’s soul has completely separated from her body, she can still slightly influence that thing... even if it’s a divine artifact, it is still bound by its origin.

Of course, because her abilities are limited, this constraint must be very small.

But Lansendel himself didn’t plan to compete with the Styx for power in this world, nor did he intend to make a move against the Styx!

Leaving a backdoor for oneself is the most normal choice for The Wise Ones!

As long as Aislin’s heart is inclined towards these Toril Deities, it means they have a place in the Styx.

Not to mention anything else, it’s convenient when intercepting souls from the Styx!

Although the Styx has always been indifferent to these deities retrieving the souls of their followers, to search for them is still up to them.

It’s easier when there are fewer people, but sometimes when there are too many people, even Lansendel feels a bit tired.

He has promised not to give up on any follower’s soul!

Especially his followers, because they trust their Main God so implicitly, that they even dare to venture into Hell’s Abyss.

Do they really think Lansendel enjoys tossing purification-class fireballs into Hell and the Abyss?

Sometimes he’s also forced by circumstances... it’s not always him going mad by himself!

If he can have a fixed point in the Styx, it will be much easier to rescue people later... the place where Aislin’s soul lies will be the source of light in the Styx for him.

If, when he is collecting the souls of his followers, someone steps too fast and directly leaves the tributary where Toril is located, they will inevitably be attracted by this light from Aislin.

At that time, Lansendel only needs to glance at the place where Aislin is from time to time.

Shaer is dissatisfied because she thought of it, but this benefit is of no value to her.

But she is originally an onlooker... Celene did not get her share of the benefits, is it possible Shaer would stand up for her?

As for the Styx, unless he decides to completely abandon this world, he can only let Lansendel take advantage... this is a transparent strategy.

The Styx is indeed the fairest.

As long as Aislin honestly stays in the Styx and doesn’t engage in melodramatic plots of ’longing for the mortal world’s beauty, basking in the sun’, even if the Styx doesn’t favor that her heart is always thinking of Lansendel, he won’t do anything to her.

As for sending Aislin’s soul to Lansendel... even the Lord of Dawn wouldn’t dare to dream of such a wonderful thing.

The divine artifact crafted personally by the Styx, even with a soul nearby that might slightly benefit Lansendel, he can still tolerate, especially since the Lord of Dawn has also paid a price.

But Aislin must be under his surveillance... to hand over the possible key that could unlock the control of the divine artifact to someone else, the Styx would rather violate his own principles and completely annihilate Aislin.

Although his principles are indeed one of the strongest, they can still be slightly adjusted.

With the initial plan set, Lansendel gently looked at Hill, who was holding a cup drinking juice and obviously hadn’t understood his and Shaer’s conversation: ”So, Hill, how should we contact the Styx?

You should have a way, right?”

Hill was taken aback for a moment and put down his cup: ”Do you intend to make an official visit, Lansendel?”

His attitude was quite solemn... if it requires him to officially introduce as a middleman, then his identity is not merely Junior Mage Hill, but a descendant of the World Tree.

The Styx would not casually be disturbed by any Junior Mage; he would only listen to the call of the World Tree’s progeny.

”Yes.” Lansendel seriously nodded, ”for you, this is also important, isn’t it?

This world is too close to Teraxil.

If Amanata succeeds, the first to suffer would not be Toril.”

Hill shook his head: ”That reason doesn’t stand.

Lansendel, I have never shown concern for Amanata’s actions because I am confident enough to expel them from my world.

However, I haven’t acted directly because he has already established a faint connection with this world’s Sun.

Even if he leaves this world, even if that Sun is directly destroyed, he could possibly drag that Sun’s core to his Divine Kingdom.

Yet this does not threaten Teraxil.

Lansendel, as a friend, the traveling Hill requires no reason to assist you.

But, the child of the World Tree, Hill of Teraxil, cannot casually use his identity.

I hope you can understand my necessity.”

Lansendel couldn’t help but laugh: ”So, how can I persuade Hill of Teraxil?”

Although Hill gave a lengthy explanation, his expression obviously indicated that it wasn’t impossible, just that it required a little ceremony.

”Please extend a greeting to the World Tree.” Hill seriously answered, ”though the World Tree is eternal and doesn’t care about external trivialities, he wouldn’t want to see the demise of a world either.

But if I need to act in his name, then there must be a reason for him to intervene in the matter.

As the Lord of Dawn, you should know how to project the light of dawn onto the branches and leaves of the World Tree.”
