Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill thought over and over, and didn’t think Russell’s future held any burden other than surprises and shocks, so he let the two children make their own decisions.

Russell is now even actively arranging various daily tasks for Carpenter... including but not limited to the portrayal of magic arrays and the creation of small puppets.

That girl quite has the style of Gilbert, though a diluted version, but once she learns it, the strange objects she makes are even comparable to an assembly line.

That’s why Carpenter wouldn’t normally be in this secret room watching the excitement... Her heart isn’t steady enough, and she’s easily affected by the chaotic things on the giant screen.

And once her fixed tasks are affected due to distraction, a series of subsequent tasks will all be doomed.

Russell wouldn’t care why she didn’t complete them... Carpenter would have to burn the midnight oil, sacrificing her only remaining rest time.

Hill’s growing satisfaction with her stems from this: Carpenter understands very well that Russell’s strict demands on her are for her own good.

Therefore, no matter the reason, she wouldn’t take it out and argue with Russell, but instead honestly accepts the punishment and strives to make up for her mistakes.

After observing these two kids for so long, Hill actually got a feeling... even though he’s not a good teacher, he might have taught a kid who’s good at teaching others.

Russell’s orderly and methodical way of doing things, with rules and a sense of order, is more suitable for teaching apprentices than Hill’s capricious and laid-back style, doing whatever comes to mind.

To be honest, if it wasn’t for the period when Hill had to stay silent in the Tower of Dark Enigma, he probably wouldn’t have the mind to observe the gradual growth of the two kids.

Children like Carpenter, who initially didn’t catch his eye, wouldn’t have so much chance to interact with him.

Even Russell, isn’t quite his most satisfied type.

Hill’s view of the two kids slowly changed... However, this was something he, in the past, could most unlikely have accomplished.

If he wasn’t satisfied, Hill would have left long ago.

Life’s encounters are always so peculiar.

During this period, Hill, although having to test his patience, has also gained quite a bit of growth.

However, although he’s quite satisfied with the growth brought by these encounters, he doesn’t wish for a second time.

He truly doesn’t want to live such suffocating days again.

-----------------

On the day Russell and Koyl had agreed upon, the weather was fair and sunny.

Hill watched Russell, fully equipped and having checked his storage ring several times, donning his best magic robe, slowly flying up into the sky.

Normally at this time, Carpenter, who would be in her room crafting strange objects or studying magic, sat quietly in her usual spot, looking calm yet unable to hide the anxiety in her heart.

The red airship on the giant screen to the right was slowly moving towards the great magic tower, now only left with a crooked base.

While on the giant screen to the left, the scenery of Rommel Tower was still displayed.

”Teacher...” Carpenter, sitting there hesitantly, voiced her doubts, ”Didn’t you say that something big might happen today?

Then, why is the giant screen still set on Rommel Mage here?

Is it very safe at our main tower?”

Hill glanced at the worried little girl and smiled gently: ”There’s no way their place will be the main battlefield.

At most, there might be some chaotic disturbances, no need to worry.

The defensive strange objects on Russell are enough to ensure his safe return.”

Carpenter bowed her head a bit awkwardly... She actually understood that since her teacher chose this way, naturally these two places were more important.

But even knowing Russell wouldn’t encounter any major issues, she still worried about her brother who was bound to encounter something.

Hill certainly wouldn’t bother about all this with Carpenter.

This young girl, when facing Hill, has always behaved well... even her questions would be clever and cute.

Therefore, Carpenter having the courage to ask her doubts in such a serious tone actually made Hill quite pleased.

This child still understands what is truly most important.

At least now, she can make Hill believe that she and Russell can support each other for a long time to come.

-----------------

The group following Aislin, coming out successively from the red airship on the giant screen, once again caught Hill’s attention.

Honestly, he greatly admired the communication methods of the Evil Faction.

Really, if it were Hill, in such a setting where words aren’t mutual and wasting breath is pointless, he’d rather start a fight right away.

He wouldn’t stay one minute in such an interaction environment.

He’d rather start fighting directly.

Especially when not facing some big shot like the Lord of Hell, whom you might provoke bad luck even with your soul!

Moreover, any side sitting there could actually just turn around and leave.

Yet they manage to persist in such a mutually sarcastic and even murderously tense environment until now.

Additionally, after exiting that airship, several people could even step out in combat formation.

Of course, in their formation, those leading the charge are naturally Delphus’s Eighth Ring followers.

And as a provider of cannon fodder and a human shield, Delphus gets the qualification to stand in the middle.

Then, between Rosero and Aislin, Aislin isn’t the one to stand at the very back... The most likely to be ambushed person, as is universally acknowledged.

Even if Aislin is now only one-third Gracia, she is still Gracia.

Roselo’s expression has already turned from an exclamation mark into a dead silence during this time... if not for the part of Gracia’s soul, he could still take action.

But now, what can he do?

Just wait for Gracia to triumph on her own.

Anyway, regardless of the final outcome, his days ahead won’t be easy... Even if everyone knows it’s Gracia’s own folly, the one who lost this avatar of Gracia is still him.

Who let him have a guilty conscience and take Aislin out the door!

If he could use Aislin to escape from Lansendel, it would be fine. At least he’d have caught the fish, not caring about the bit of stench.

But now, he can’t even guess whether Lansendel, upon seeing such an Aislin, would take action... or keep her to watch the hellish fun.

After all, Roselo could not have guessed that Celene would also come along.

He truly had no preparation for what unbelievable things his own Princess of Hell had done.

So, Roselo’s spirit clearly sagged a bit, and his attitude was unusually cold, looking like he was just there to make up the numbers.

However, Aislin seemed quite spirited.

Probably, arguing and quarreling with people of similar level is indeed the most invigorating stimulant.

”Delphus~” Aislin’s tone seemed to float, ”Did you see the tower in front?”

”Mage Aislin, I am not blind,” Delphus replied coldly, ”The ruins of the Defense Tower, there’s nothing to be amazed by, right?”

”Speaking of, why is it that other places have been razed to the ground, but the foundation of this Main Tower remains?” An excited Aislin had no intention of responding to Delphus’ retort and turned to Roselo with a curious face.

Roselo stared at her face, pondered for a moment, and then slowly answered, ”The foundation of the Defense Tower is the most solid part.

But for others, this thing is useless.

The choice to completely destroy the Defense Tower back then was naturally to ensure it wouldn’t reappear as time passes.

So, anything that could be demolished was demolished entirely, and anything that couldn’t be demolished was confirmed to be unusable and thus left alone.

This foundation, even if Fengo himself came, he would have to pay a considerable price to completely flatten it.

No benefits at all, so it was naturally left as it is.”

Aislin tilted her head, suddenly pointing at Delphus with excitement: ”Go! Use your so-called Order Jewel to burn it!”

Delphus was stunned for a moment... Using the Order Jewel would almost consume half of his mana.

He couldn’t possibly allow himself to be in a state of mana depletion, while his two neighboring allies, who could turn into enemies at any time, are in their full capacity, could he?

What is Aislin thinking?

He’d have to be crazy to go along with this... Huh?

Aislin tossed a potion heartily to him, ”Look at your ugly, stupid face?

Is there anything worth me coveting?

This potion is for you.

Enough to let a proper Ninth Ring Mage instantly recover half of their mana, huh~

For you, I estimate two-thirds isn’t a problem, right?

What are you looking at me for?

Aren’t you going to set fire?”

What is he looking at you for?

Delphus naturally wanted to know why a spy from Sia Tower, an Eighth Ring apprentice of Archmage Ruth, could obtain such a powerful potion that even he had never seen.

Hill felt Roselo’s eyes, about to bulge out of their sockets, were somewhat pitiful.

Gracia always seems to make an appearance with some surprise.

She was still competing with the Goddess of the Silvermoon for souls, yet had enough interest to see if she could burn Lansendel’s people with Lansendel’s fire.

A true good daughter of Asmodeus!

More courageous than her dad indeed.

Even if it might bring the most terrifying outcome, the first thought of the Princess of Hell is to stir up the excitement first.

Who knows if the Lord of Hell’s eyes are watching this world... or if he finds his little cotton coat particularly warm.

A perplexed Delphus glanced at Roselo with pleading eyes.

After checking the potion, he wasn’t afraid of the problem of mana depletion, but Aislin producing such a strong potion just to make him burn a foundation that had already been destroyed for so many years... made Delphus feel the horror of the future.

He has struggled to survive until today because he didn’t want to die.

But...

However, Roselo merely returned a puzzled look of why he hadn’t acted yet.

The Duke of Demons knew very well that whether or not the Princess of Hell’s fragment would return to her original master’s side, he had to prepare for the worst.

After all, he wasn’t the one starting the fire, right?
