Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Lansendel’s mockery was completely intolerable to Hill.

He merely chuckled lightly: ”Just in time, before you all enter the battlefield of Heavenly Mountain, let me see how you managed to tussle with Asmodeus for so long.

What I originally envisioned wasn’t this kind of outcome.

I thought there would be a grandiose Bright Fire Rain!”

Lansendel sighed softly: ”Ah~ that old fox Asmodeus, he’s truly too cunning.

Always using Mephistopheles as a shield.

Infernal Fire is fire after all~ indeed it burned a little less.”

Hill glanced at him... this was Lansendel responding, not his avatar.

Though it may sound unpleasant, this Lord of Dawn’s avatar operates more uprightly than he does himself.

Not in terms of action style, of course, but in terms of speech.

One’s true nature is hard to change, but avatars aren’t as complex as the main body, churning out ten thousand thoughts per second, then randomly choosing one to voice... He has to think on his own, so the speech seems more human.

For instance, this response came from the avatar himself, inherently conveying he doesn’t want Asmodeus using him as a tool to deal with the Eighth Demon King.

Mephistopheles was originally responsible for Asmodeus’ numerous cults, but then tried to utilize these forces to establish a cult of Infernal Fire, belonging to the category of slyly treacherous Grand Dukes of Hell.

However, he didn’t outwardly express discord with Asmodeus like other Grand Dukes did.

He hasn’t even completely abandoned working for Asmodeus.

This indeed posed a bit of trouble for Asmodeus, who once made many promises to Hell’s Will to become the Lord of Hell... He wants to kill but can’t, what a lonely ghostly existence.

Of course, this kind of trouble for a Lord of Hell burdened with a mess isn’t unbearable... But if there’s a chance for borrowed violence, Asmodeus won’t let it slip by.

Especially since Mephistopheles delivered himself to the door.

If he were staying in hell, and Asmodeus specifically called him to meet his demise, ignoring the call wouldn’t be an issue... Hell’s Will, fearing this King of Battle Angels who once fooled even the God of Order might truly turn hell into ’Hell is empty, devils roam the Mortal World,’ imposed many restrictions on the Lord of Hell.

So, although Asmodeus resonates with some ideas of Hell, he doesn’t meld with it; instead, he pursues the divine path to try to circumvent Hell’s Will’s constraints, using the ’Lord of Hell’ divinity to control Hell’s Law.

Their cooperation from the outset was filled with distrust and selfish thoughts.

Though time has passed and Hell might remain mysterious, so long as they interact externally, some information will slip out.

Thus, godly beings wary of the Lord of Hell generally wouldn’t serve as his tools.

Especially the Eighth Demon King, Mephistopheles.

Though scheming might seem typical, he has enough power.

And indeed, he’s quite the stayer.

On rare occasions, like being caught by Asmodeus this time... even just for peeking at certain non-publicly forbidden secrets of the Lord of Hell, it seldom happens.

In fact, if it weren’t for Lansendel’s unexpected appearance, he might not have been caught.

Otherwise, with Lansendel and Celene’s combined abilities, they’d be the Nemesis of Mephistopheles’ Infernal Fire.

Sure, killing this Eighth Demon King outright would be futile, merely a part of his avatar; killing him only weakens his strength... Wouldn’t that just benefit Asmodeus?

Lansendel and Celene, despite their seemingly absurd styles of action, possess formidable fighting will, so neither was fooled.

Of course, if Asmodeus’ main purpose was to buy time, then they indeed fell for it.

Still, neither Lansendel nor Celene, including the silent Lady of the Night perched on Hill’s left shoulder, holds any fondness for Heavenly Mountain.

They are quite willing to witness this grand spectacle.

To them, it is, in a sense, a ’win-win.’

These three, even without counting Shaer, Lansendel and Celene, lack firm resolve to exorcise demons, but their passion for watching the spectacle is certainly fervent.

Lansendel’s Chosen wish to drive evil from this world and summon dawn... because it aids Lansendel’s divinity greatly.

They do indeed detest evil, or Lansendel wouldn’t have openly declared war on Shaer back then.

But the followers of the Lord of Dawn implicitly accept that darkness’s existence is necessary... hence the longing for dawn.

Therefore, Lansendel is benevolent, but also neutral.

Followers of the Lord of Dawn never despise darkness; they only aim to dispel it.

For others, Lansendel’s words might require reflection, but Shaer perched on Hill’s other shoulder instantly comprehends them... subsequently followed by a faint, disdainful chuckle.

Hill took a deep breath, quickly looked up, and watched as his beautiful Magic Tower descended amidst a Flash of Lightning and Roar of Thunder... Unfortunately, it wasn’t directly transported here, allowing these two to exchange some words.

In that moment, he suddenly dreamed back to the Floating Castle in Toril, and quickly recalled how exhausted he used to be.

Hill couldn’t help but glance at the Silvermoon which still appeared on the horizon even when it was high noon since Celene passed by... After she solves the problem with this moon, will she come?

Celene’s commitment to completing her work at such a time earned Hill’s admiration for her genuine love for Silvermoon.

Swish~

The seemingly massive and tall Magic Tower lightly landed in front of Hill.

Russell and Carpenter, floating in mid-air, widened their eyes... They were initially worried that the tower’s descent would affect the grey-purple tower behind.

After all, as the tall tower drew closer, they could see that it was almost landing alongside the edge of the grey-purple tower.

A moment of carelessness could directly demolish half of the grey-purple tower, not to mention the pressure from the descending solid giant tower nearly forming a whirlwind!

Russell’s eyes were filled with a thirst for knowledge... He racked his brain but couldn’t figure out how this was achieved!

Indeed, as the teacher said, knowledge is endless.

Only by diligently studying and practicing tirelessly can one qualify to see more of the unknown.

Seeing his brother almost ignited with the flame of inquiry, Carpenter retreated somewhat dejectedly, his face worn with wind and frost... Where’s the way out for the underperforming students these days?

”Sir, welcome home.” List’s shadow appeared in front of the Magic Tower, with Purwell spraying mist from the Light Ord beside him, emitting an enchanting ethereal whale song.

”Ah, List, long time no see, I really miss you.” Hill smiled as he spoke; List’s face still quite stern, he’d best appear at ease.

After all, his adventure was reluctantly accepted by List... Now the Tower Spirit was merely examining whether Hill had suffered.

As long as Hill appeared very calm and at ease, List’s heavy pressure would naturally be alleviated.

Besides, crises were only their imagination, while reality was so... unbelievable.

Who would have thought, this world still held a Chosen of Lansendel!

Despite a thousand calculations and myriad strategies, they couldn’t withstand a chance occurrence.

Hill pointed to the back of the Magic Tower: ”List, take the grey-purple Magic Tower behind into the Half-plane.”

”Teacher?” Russell asked in confusion, ”Are we leaving here?”

This child is indeed very perceptive.

”Sia Tower still belongs to someone else’s domain.” Hill answered with a smile, ”My identity has been exposed, so there’s no need to stay here.

Your world’s people, those with interest, should have already found what they wanted.”

Russell blinked in confusion, then suddenly turned to the Temple that became conspicuous after the collapse of the White Tower and Black Tower.

”Although its Guardian is still there,” Hill said slowly, ”But that’s a mighty entity the Ninth Ring can already reach.

I can’t worry too much.”

Though there are still two Battle Angels guarding there, given the Lord of Hell’s consistent style, he won’t have these two persist.

Those most lethal methods of the Battle Angels won’t be employed... Especially those that burn Souls and kill across levels.

As long as Ruth and the others exhibit sufficient resilience and combat power to harm the two, they will naturally withdraw.

However, they certainly won’t retreat easily... Even Asmodier wouldn’t violate the Battle Angels’ duty to guard, only determining the abandonment’s threshold when assigning tasks.

But they won’t require them to flee without a fight.

For those angels, it would be a torture to their nature, even if they’ve fallen to Hell.

Hill didn’t plan to help the world’s people take this significant step.

He glanced back... Wondering if the Dawn Messenger was about to arrive.

The group from the Defense Tower, having paid such a high price, could not possibly fail to witness the outcome firsthand.

Sia Tower was in obvious chaos at this moment, with most people scattered outside, yet without severe damage, so this is their only chance.

List hesitantly asked: ”The materials of that tower seem to have some issues, I didn’t notice anything special, they are all in the Half-plane!”

”Ah, Russell, Carpenter, come and meet my Tower Spirit.” Hill beckoned with a smile, and the two children floated to List’s side, ”You will be interacting a lot in the future, so please get along well~”

List was a bit surprised: ”Sir, you actually took in students in this world?”
