Surviving The Fourth Calamity

After Lansendel understood, he nodded earnestly.

Although he didn’t know if Hill had gone to see the World Tree, Lansendel knew very well that if the World Tree wanted to meet Hill, it wouldn’t require such trouble, necessitating Hill to go to the center point of the multiverse.

Moreover, Lansendel always had a feeling... If Heavenly Mountain still had a fixed existence area, fully relying on various dimensional gates to connect the multiverse, then the central area where the World Tree is located was, in contrast, the one that was ubiquitous.

Otherwise, how could the roots of the World Tree be in every universe?

Not to mention a newly born universe like Teraxil... The World Tree can directly transform the Goddess of the Earth into the first planet of this universe, surely because it was just forming there, still at the stage where it’s only egg white, without any consciousness appearing.

If the World Tree is really as those deities claim, only in the so-called ’multiverse center’ area, how could it be discovered so timely... In theory, at the moment of universe formation, when Primordial Power condenses like water, a new world main consciousness should be born!

In between, there is indeed a tiny gap, but it’s only one ten-thousandth of a second.

Therefore, Lansendel never believed that it was really only by crossing the Chaos Sea, passing the entrances of Hell and the Bottomless Abyss, then circling around the Elemental Realm and the source of the Styx could you meet that World Tree.

But he also knew very well that for outsiders like him, to greet that one, he could only take this path.

Just as Hill said, this is a ceremony.

Lansendel’s request is not a big deal, the World Tree won’t refuse.

But, after all, it’s a significant matter involving dealing with the Styx, requiring formal communication... Using others’ names to do things naturally requires displaying respect.

All his design premise is to be able to ask Hill to mobilize the Abyssal Will.

Instead, finding the Envoy of the Styx is useless... Even for the Grim Reaper, to get some reaction from the Abyssal Will is very difficult, let alone those lesser envoys.

They don’t have the ability to elevate their essence, evolving from envoys like the Chosen to Grim Reaper... that is, by resonating with death-type Laws and formally becoming deities, they can only forever remain this immortal existence cleaning the river path in tributaries.

The Abyssal Will seems to value these Grim Reapers scattered throughout the multiverse a lot... As long as these guys dare to act, they are essentially one of the most powerful deities in their world.

Isn’t Jacob from Toril a great example!

But in reality, the Abyssal Will does not care about these Grim Reapers who work diligently using the Laws given by him.

Even if these Grim Reapers play themselves into downfall, he would at most casually appoint another one while slowly cleaning his path, completely ignoring why they disappeared.

Instead, Hill, the child of the World Tree Family, can catch the attention of that careless Abyssal Will... This is not only because of the good relationship between the Styx and the World Tree, as everyone knows, the source of the Styx is at the foot of the World Tree.

Also, because the overly pure Force of Nature filled with life breath on Hill can trigger the Styx’s senses.

Lansendel slightly shook his head inwardly... The deities of Toril actually have long not abided by these basic etiquettes universally used in the multiverse.

AO from Heavenly Mountain, although trying hard to wash away those God of Order marks on himself, his thinking mode is still not so normal.

The current particularly dangerous region where the World Tree is said to be, which many strong Divine Powers don’t even know how to get to, is because of that group from Heavenly Mountain!

Even if AO has gone too far in correcting himself into Chaos, he still cannot escape some common sense formed in Heavenly Mountain.

Thus, the deities here in Toril have learned what it means to be a deity from those Exterior Gods systems... Relations among them are just betrayals and enmity.

Friends aren’t friends, enemies aren’t enemies, who deserves whose courtesy?

So, after understanding why Hill said so, Lansendel felt a slight apology... He truly didn’t mean to use Hill.

He really regards Hill as his friend, how could he casually use Hill when he’s young and doesn’t understand many things yet?

Yet, his approach seemed like taking advantage of one’s vulnerability.

Lansendel hesitated for a while, then softly told Hill, ”Hill, my friend, I just forgot those proper etiquettes, not wanting to use you.”

Hill widened his eyes in surprise.

He has always had a keen sense, so of course, he knows Lansendel bore no malice.

And after spending so long in Toril, he somewhat understood the peculiarity of the world’s deities... They are powerful, but they are also shallow.

Because of AO’s habit of liking to trap Exterior Gods, the Toril Gods rarely establish genuine friendships with truly ancient deities with legacies.

And naturally born Shaer and Celene, including Lansendel, they are pure New Gods... those who haven’t received any legacy from the so-called Creator God.

Therefore, besides the inherently possessed Divine Arts, all other things are figured out bit by bit by themselves through trial and error.

Toril’s chaos is partly due to these deities having no idea what they would do a thousand years later.

With no continuity, everything is about improvisation.

But Hill could feel Lansendel’s sincerity in his apology... The Lord of Dawn truly did not wish for his mistake to affect his relationship with Hill.

Seeing Selene’s somewhat bewildered look, glancing back and forth between him and Lansendel, Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”Lansendel, my friend, I accept your apology.

Yet you must know, from the very beginning, I knew you harbored no ill intentions.”

Lansendel smiled gently, ”We are friends, so I hope there will be nothing between us that could cause a misunderstanding.

Thank you for your acknowledgment, Hill.”

Lansendel certainly knew Hill had no misunderstandings, but a mistake is a mistake. Just because he had no malicious intent, does it mean his wrong actions were right?

Only by speaking openly about everything could their friendship continue.

”I don’t quite understand.” Shaer suddenly spoke softly, ”Lansendel, you seem more willing to befriend Hill than William.

Why?

Don’t you like the Undead Tribe a lot?”

”Hill saved me.” Lansendel said emphatically.

”Hmm?” Hill was the more surprised one.

”Hill doesn’t know, but, Shaer, do you really not know?” Lansendel asked quietly but firmly, ”That small town Kalinsan prepared for me, do you really have no news of it at all?

When my deceived follower prayed to me, lamenting that Amanata was resurrected too early, I understood everything.”

Hill blinked, his expression surprised, yet waves rose in his heart... Indeed, Lansendel’s decision to impersonate Amanata from the start was all part of Amanata’s plan.

Just before his scheme began, Lansendel, overly curious, had been prodded to Quince and was so absorbed that he completely ignored all kinds of information from Toril’s followers.

That Holy Grail, even treated by the Black Dragon as the Cup of Life, was never honest!

Indeed, with a trace of Amanata’s own Divine Soul inside it, there’s always a way to contact his followers still walking the world.

Lansendel’s flat and straightforward questioning directly pierced the superficial harmony between him and Shaer... How could Kalinsan have a secret Shaer didn’t know about!

Shaer sneered, ”Lansendel, when you say such things, don’t forget, your declaration of me as an enemy is still hanging in all your Dawn Towers!”

”So, I only ask, why do you act as if I’m speaking nonsense?” Lansendel said calmly, ”And you ask why I prefer to befriend Hill over William.

Your man, why would I need to be friends with him?

Managing to continue alliances with him, I can already discern right from wrong!”

Hill spoke gently, interrupting the unnecessary exchange... Although Lansendel has dated, he probably still can’t understand Shaer’s little thought of not wanting William placed below others.

The Lady of the Night originally had a somewhat extreme and overly sensitive personality, even if she doesn’t think ill of Hill, she always believes her lover is the best between acquaintances and lovers.

This topic doesn’t need to continue... Older young men, having experienced countless similar tests, already understand that changing the subject quickly is the best solution.

Once entangled with her, it would be endless.

A Goddess in love can also turn neurotic... Of course, this is for innocent bystanders like them.

William, that guy, probably watched quite happily.

”Time is urgent, Lansendel.” Hill smiled, staring at Lansendel, ”You’d better go find the World Tree soon!

Then, before dawn tomorrow, go and take care of Amanata.”

Lansendel solemnly nodded, then closed his eyes.

His main body happened to be there at the Heavenly Mountain, he could borrow a bit the wide-open Dimensional Gates of the devil and the demon.

In a show of wholehearted cooperation, the Abyssal Will and Asmodier chose to open a new gate between their two grand gates.

Exiting this gate, one would be over the River Styx.

And then, into the colorful and particularly dazzling Elemental Plane.

Only at this center of the Multiverse can one see the true appearance of the limitless Elemental Realm... Of course, if you wish to reach that ever-rotating diamond-shaped gemstone, who knows how far and how long you’d have to fly.

After that, there is the World Tree, whose crown is impossible to see.
