Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Before returning to his own Magic Tower, Hill casually turned the half-collapsed trading hall next to Ruth’s Main Tower upside down.

He kindly ensured that those still engaged in battle remained in their original state, though the battlefield had transformed into an open space.

Of course, Cohen and his opponent found themselves somewhat carelessly relocated next to Cohen’s Magic Tower.

Glancing at his student hovering in mid-air, deftly stowing away a book, Hill nodded with satisfaction... that stability really did seem a bit like his own.

Russell looked dazedly at his teacher, who was burdened with two huge ornaments that he couldn’t even glance at directly, unsure of how to start... finally squeezing out a sentence from his throat: ”Teacher, my things are still inside.”

Hill glanced at the pile of scrap metal and sighed softly: ”Ah~ forget it.

In the past, to avoid attracting unnecessary attention, I had you hoard so much useless material in the Magic Tower.

Now that the world has reconnected with the Multiverse, it’s time for you to relearn what a proper mage should.

The properties of this world’s materials will surely change... the earth will once again open its embrace.

Such low-rank items that ordinary people can refine with a stove, like steel, you really don’t need anymore.

As for the remaining matters, neither you nor Carpenter need to be involved.

Something major has happened in the Multiverse, and regardless of how many tricks the deities and devils have, they must wait until the battle over there has concluded before any further development.

Hmm...”

Hill returned to the Magic Tower with the ornaments on him and Russell floating by his side, pondering deeply as he signaled... Carpenter flew out with a face full of surprise.

She saw much more than Russell did, but compared to Russell, who dared to lift his gaze... even from through that giant screen, Carpenter could only see the dazzling rose radiance and the profound, entirely inscrutable darkness.

Even though Lady of the Night... Carpenter still heard the teacher’s call, knowing this one as an ally, not a foe.

Otherwise, how could she sit still?

Although a barrier separated her from that lady, the mental pressure Carpenter endured during this time still left her drenched in cold sweat.

Carpenter wasn’t unfamiliar with Ruth, or even with Princess Glacia, but sitting nearby made her feel completely unworthy... the presence even slightly eased due to her existence.

Although she couldn’t hear anything because of the barrier, it indeed alleviated much of her pressure.

When that one first came in, Carpenter almost fell to her knees.

Luckily, even though her spell talents weren’t very high and her willpower was not strong, her spiritual strength was still solid due to her dedication to studying illusions.

And when she almost couldn’t hold on, that barrier rose.

Carpenter didn’t feel out of place because her teacher hadn’t noticed her ordeal at all... she and Russell had long communicated; their teacher’s background likely wasn’t inferior to Glacia’s.

That innate confidence, feeling that no one could completely overpower him.

Thus, their teacher probably wouldn’t understand what low-rank mages like her would feel confronting deities.

Carpenter understood better that if she couldn’t endure, all she needed was to speak up to receive the teacher’s help promptly.

She just wanted to see how far she could go.

After all, the world had journeyed into an unimaginable unknown, and Carpenter didn’t want to be powerless... she knew clearly that even stepping outside required strength.

The devils that once drove their entire world to despair, though currently defeated, wouldn’t always remain as powerless as now.

She understood Fengo’s words: even forced into frenzied flight, the Sia Tower could still suppress the entire world.

They’ve temporarily retreated but will surely return.

Carpenter knew well that during this period, all her and Russell’s confidence came from their teacher.

Otherwise, just researching the Hell-related information their teacher gave, along with the Styx details, could have left them in despair for only having seen Ninth Ring Archmages.

Although she couldn’t see the deities in the screen clearly... knowing Lansendel’s identity, she had long realized that Lady of the Night’s identity must also be one of strong Divine Power.

But Carpenter could clearly see the amicable relationship between teacher and those two.

Actually, she regretted a bit that she chose to temporarily refrain from learning more about Toril Deities when the teacher asked them.

No choice, she had already reached her learning capacity.

Anymore, and Carpenter felt she might study herself to death.

Don’t be fooled by the Lady of the Night sitting there, imposing great mental pressure on Carpenter, but the brave Carpenter still tenaciously drew her designs under that pressure.

So even that powerful Goddess of the Night, when leaving the Magic Tower, gave her a token of appreciation.

However, when Carpenter heard the Goddess compliment her as ’a diligent child’, she only wanted to ask... do mages in the outside world all live so crazily?

She hadn’t dared to look in the mirror for many days.

So, even when Hill suddenly pulled her out, Carpenter was still holding a crystal pen in one hand and tightly grasping her drawing in the other.

Russell, who was initially confused, looked at his disheveled-haired and slightly dazed sister and instantly returned to rationality... no matter what the world would become, anyway, he and Carpenter’s days would remain the same.

The future of students is only dark and endless, buried deep in hard study... what role can one play in this world, and what does it have to do with the two of them?

Hill, oblivious to the bitter smiles exchanged between the two students, merely opened the connection he had cut off for a long time at that moment.

Countless little bubbles floated in his Mental Sea... and they were all filled with various question marks.

Although Hill had never summoned his Element Lords friends left in Teraxil, nor his Animal Companion, at least they always maintained contact.

And Hill’s friends were well aware that summoning the local Element Lords was easier for Hill... Elements have always had simple and pure thoughts: since they liked Hill so much, naturally, other elements in their same faction would also like Hill.

So, they might as well stay in Teraxil and help Hill guard his home.

To elements, whose lives are so long that a hundred years is just a blink, Hill’s outing didn’t seem long at all.

At least it hadn’t reached the point where they started to miss him.

However, this lack of feeling was also because they could always sense Hill’s existence and knew their friend was still alive and well.

Who would’ve thought one day, Hill would suddenly sever this connection himself!

Even if the dim connection still existed, proving Hill was alive, no mage would suddenly sever a connection with the Elemental Realm like this!

Unless the danger they faced forced them to pretend to be mere mortals!

Even though the Element Lords were simple-minded, they had plenty of experiences... so they immediately understood Hill must have gone to a world requiring such caution.

That’s terrifying!

How could there be a world that would make their Hill tread so carefully?

Although the time Hill cut off this connection wasn’t long... he had fallen into this world for several years, but the accelerated time flow, though weakened, was still present.

Even if the Element Lords were somewhat anxious, their usual reaction speed was still pretty good.

So, although Hill’s Mental Sea was flooded with various little bubbles, the Element Lords hadn’t reached the urgency to follow the connection directly to his side.

Only his Animal Companion, Cohen, who had become the King of the White Falcons, was making quite a fuss.

Hill, looking at the long string of messages from Cohen, couldn’t help but hiss and decided to reply only once, ’I’ll be back soon, Cohen, just wait a bit longer, I have something important to do here, so I’ll dodge for now’.

Although Cohen had a bad temper, his memory wasn’t that good either.

Even if he was now madly cursing, once he calmed down and saw Hill’s return, he’d only be delighted.

Hill, busy replying to various messages, had his thoughts interrupted by the students’ exclamations, and he confusedly asked: ”Didn’t the devils all run away? What’s the matter?”

Lansendel was not Shaer; when he descended, he wouldn’t come alone... his old companion, Blazing Fire, naturally followed.

Even if stubborn Great Devils remained, the powerful flames headed straight for the White Tower and Black Tower should be enough to erode all their intentions.

Although Lansendel wouldn’t easily harm mortals, those raging flames would be enough to terrify everyone.

Hill had long noticed that the mages at Sia Tower and Tower of Dark Enigma quickly retreated once the flames ignited... although White Tower and Black Tower had been knocked over by Hill, the materials they were made of were well known to these mages.

Flames capable of turning even those two towers to ashes, they knew all too well if they could handle them or not.

In uncertainty about what kind of beings these two foreign deities were, even those who considered Hilbert approachable would definitely not dare remain in Sia Tower.

Otherwise, Hill wouldn’t be squatting outside the Magic Tower, wearing two trinkets, replying to messages.

”Teacher, something is falling from the sky!” Russell called out nervously.

”Oh? Oh... I forgot to mention,” Hill reacted belatedly, realizing he hadn’t told the two students, ”that’s my Magic Tower; it’s coming to find me.”

Tsk, he could feel the trinket on his right shoulder secretly laughing.
