Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1349: Chapter 706: I Have an Idea (Part 3)

Sales are on the rise, and performance is soaring.

Zheng Xiaowen’s move was both precise and ruthless, achieving results that Europe could only envy.

Zhou Lan thought, even if ”Under the Grand Dress” goes into a second season, Zhou Yun definitely wouldn’t act anymore.

But Zhou Lan did want to produce a second season.

Because this story indeed can continue to be written.

With so many characters and a modern workplace setting, there are actually many character storylines that can evolve further.

The key is, the first season made them a lot of money. With the current popularity and reputation of the first season, making money from the second season is a sure thing. Not to mention, Zhou Lan has her own selfish motive; she can continue as a producer to push her own actors into the show, promoting them.

For instance, Yuk Chu, Huang Zicheng, and Lu Zhongting, for example, Yu Zhiyang.

Yuk Chu has quite a stock of works, but after Zhou Lan analyzed it, she found that the ones of good quality were really scarce. Zhou Lan worried that when Yuk Chu returns after having her child, her only notable work would still be ”Deep Sea.”

Now, many people are questioning whether Yuk Chu can carry a drama herself. Despite having been in many shows, the only blockbuster with her name is ”Deep Sea.”

All of Yuk Chu’s successful roles otherwise have been supporting characters.

Zhou Lan needs to figure out what kind of roles to find for Yuk Chu to help her solidify her current fame and momentum.

The second part of ”Under the Grand Dress” is a perfect opportunity.

To write a brand new character for Yuk Chu.

Zhou Lan thought as much and went to talk to He Yong once.

He Yong certainly also supported filming the second season of ”Under the Grand Dress,” for exactly the same reasons as Zhou Lan.

The first season was filmed by Chengqian Film and Television people, and if Zheng Xiaowen wanted to do a second season, she certainly would be willing to work with the first season’s team again.

At that time, it was through He Yong’s networking that this collaboration was facilitated. This time, of course, it could bypass He Yong, but Zhou Lan thought it over and decided to include He Yong.

If He Yong is left out, in case of conflict with Chengqian Film and Television later, there’s no mediator.

Zhou Lan still believed that under normal circumstances, He Yong would certainly stand by them to help.

Zhou Lan went to discuss this matter with Zhou Yun.

Clarified a few points.

First, Zhou Yun definitely won’t be the lead anymore, but she can guest star.

Second, the character Zhou Yun played will not be replaced with a new actor but will naturally exit the story by leaving the job.

Third, try to retain the original cast, based on which new characters can be added.

After Zhou Lan communicated this with Zhou Yun, she pulled He Yong, Zheng Xiaowen, and a few others for an online meeting.

The production of this drama was tentatively set in advance just like that.

This time, there will be a change of scriptwriter.

The scriptwriter Zheng Xiaowen found before was somewhat mediocre.

Zhou Yun said, ”Even if it costs more, we must hire a good scriptwriter to produce a better story. Otherwise, sequels are inherently more scrutinized. If the story isn’t good, that would be a devastating blow to the reputation. I do think that if Xiaowen you’re interested, why not develop several more seasons, like a long-running American TV series.”

After tasting the sweetness of ”Under the Grand Dress,” Zheng Xiaowen finally conceded on the creative aspect.

”I’ll leave the scriptwriting to you, I won’t interfere anymore. I’ll just be responsible for all the brands and every character’s clothes and accessories in the show, alright?” Zheng Xiaowen said, ”Division of labor is crucial, and I trust you.”

Zhou Lan smiled and said, ”That’s certainly good. With you personally continuing to be in charge of the costumes and accessories, the fashion taste can be acknowledged. You see how much people liked the outfits from our first season.”

This was also Zheng Xiaowen’s proudest point.

Every one of Zhou Yun’s looks received widespread acclaim within the industry, greatly increasing her exposure.

Zhou Yun said, ”Have you talked to Director Ning Yufeng yet? Is he willing to shoot the second season?”

Zhou Lan replied, ”I’ve talked to him already. He has one condition; he wants to be involved in the screenwriting.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It’s okay for Director Ning to be involved in the screenwriting.”

”This season still needs to add some new characters, right?” Zhou Lan suggested.

He Yong nodded, saying, ”If we don’t add some new characters, there’s no freshness. Since Xiao Yun and Teacher Zeng Lili can’t act, at least we need to change an editor-in-chief and add an editor character.”

”Yes.” Zheng Xiaowen nodded, ”That’s possible. Actually, I have an idea regarding the editor-in-chief character.”
