Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1314: Chapter 695: For Whom

Zhou Yun and Chen Wenjun have indeed known each other for several years.

However, compared to the ties between Zhou Yun and Yuehai, New Shield, Zhou Yun and Chen Wenjun’s Seapool Film and Television basically have not dealt with each other truly.

Zhou Yun only heard that Chen Wenjun is actually very fierce and daring, with a strong presence in the media.

But if we talk about achievements in recent years, Seapool Film and Television has not produced any major sensational dramas.

In recent years, major companies have been exerting efforts, but Seapool Film and Television, as an established film company, is showing signs of dormancy instead.

Nonetheless, this company, after all these years, possesses deep foundations.

Seapool Film and Television might be a bit slower than some new companies in changing tracks and adapting to new environments, but its strength is still widely recognized.

Chen Wenjun values ”Moon Sinking at Sea” because Seapool Film and Television hasn’t launched a major hit for a few years.

This has caused them to lose a lot of negotiating clout when dealing with current broadcasting platforms.

They don’t have an ace in their hand, which makes them lose much initiative.

Therefore, Chen Wenjun must play a trump card to regain the most advantageous position.

Otherwise, although they have been producing some dramas and the broadcasting results are pretty good, without a leading piece, the greatest bargaining power is absent.

This is unfavorable for the balance between both parties, as the balance being broken, the prices of other dramas will be pressured.

Just looking at how ”Deep Sea” gained Yuehai much initiative in the first quarter this year explains it.

Strictly speaking, the viewership of ”Deep Sea” is less than ”Immortal Feather Decision”, but the reputation and popularity of ”Deep Sea” are much higher, and combined with Zhou Yun starring, many advertisers are willing to invest in this drama.

While ”Immortal Feather Decision” is also popular with many die-hard fans, the cast consists of newcomers who initially don’t gain advertisers’ trust and favor, losing an advantage in early stages, and later, as the audience is mainly teenagers, many advertisers believe that the primary audience does not match their product market, resulting in ”Deep Sea” still being the most profitable one.

The key point is, ”Deep Sea” also costs less than ”Flying with Phoenix” and ”Immortal Feather Decision”.

The episodes of ”Deep Sea” are only a quarter or even a fifth of the latter two, no matter how high the actors’ fees, they can’t go too high, episode count sets the upper limit.

Thus, the return rate of ”Deep Sea” is so high that all other platforms envy it.

Chen Wenjun thinks, for a drama like ”Moon Sinking at Sea”, actually the production costs won’t be high.

It tells a spy war story of a group of people on a ship, which makes the shooting location simple, all done in the studio.

And this drama does not require any post-production special effects.

Chen Wenjun is willing to spend highly on this script, and also willing to spend highly to bring Song Chi and Zhou Yun over.

Because it’s worth it.

As long as Song Chi and Zhou Yun are willing to act in this drama, those platforms will surely come asking for prices.

Not to mention, if Zhou Yun is willing to act, the overseas market might not even have concerns selling it.

Given that there’s already ”Deep Sea” ahead, this drama being popular in the United States and Europe has news brought back to the domestic market.

The reported content is also very interesting, saying: We finally have a language drama that truly went out through commercial and market channels, although it hasn’t become a sensation drama with global viewing excitement, undeniably, ”Deep Sea” has gained true international market recognition, gathered a batch of genuine overseas audience, and also gained attention from international media, Zhou Yun led this drama truly towards the world.

Moreover, Chen Wenjun also realized one thing from the cooperation between Zhou Yun and New Shield.

Zhou Yun is a person who values long-term relationships.

From her current filming projects, she often cooperates with companies and directors she has worked with before.

Chen Wenjun and Zhou Yun have known each other, but it’s only limited to acquaintance, never truly collaborated.

Chen Wenjun wants to connect with Zhou Yun and collaborate on several dramas, thus a good beginning is essential.

”Moon Sinking at Sea” fits Zhou Yun.

Chen Wenjun wasn’t wrong when he wanted to cooperate with Zhou Yun, but really didn’t find a suitable and good script previously.

Good scripts are hard to come by, without a good script, looking for Zhou Yun is pointless, even if ultimately he persuades Zhou Yun, and invites her to star, poor results mean both sides have more difficulty collaborating for a second time.
