Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1335: Chapter 702: This Is Not Just the Two of Them

A good team will never rush to fill up all the positions at once.

Everyone needs to have their own room for career development.

Like when Zheng Xiaojue came to be Zhou Yun’s assistant, it was never meant to be a lifetime assistant job.

Zhou Lan has to take into account everyone’s future career plans and space to grow, instead of hiring a dozen or twenty people in one go and letting them kill each other like raising gu.

That may indeed boost the team’s efficiency in the short term, using this kind of all-out grinding to gain faster development, but it’s not good for the team’s overall stability.

After all, their studio is not a fully developed big company.

With just over twenty people in the studio, interpersonal relationships and the working atmosphere are crucial.

If anything goes wrong, it will leave everyone with a negative impression of the job and have a negative impact on the entire studio.

Right now the studio actually only has Zhou Yun as a contracted artist; the others are all signed under Chengqian Entertainment.

But according to the cooperation framework between the two sides, the studio is responsible for these artists’ agency business, and then they split the profits according to the pre-agreed ratio.

Given the studio’s current situation, this is the most suitable model they can adopt.

Among the studio’s contracted artists now, the three actresses are all developing very well; they’re on their own tracks with a great outlook, but the three male actors, Huang Zicheng, Lu Zhongting and Yu Zhiyang, are all in a weak position.

Of course, that’s actually quite normal.

They haven’t debuted for very long to begin with; how could they explode in popularity overnight.

Even Wang Jing only got popular after signing with Chengqian Entertainment for a year, then transferring under Zhou Lan, and then starring in Behind the Scenes.

Of course, this also has to do with the fact that Zhou Yun is an actress.

The best resources the studio can access all come through Zhou Yun, so those resources were female-oriented from the start.

Huang Zicheng and the others simply can’t take them on directly.

Zhou Lan feels that she’s already very busy and really needs to assign each of Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting an agent in charge of their concrete affairs.

Otherwise, both Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting will remain in a state where ”no one is managing them.”

They don’t even have assistants.

Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting have never actually brought this up to her, but Zhou Lan herself has heard plenty of gossip from outside.

People say she’s too stingy, that she won’t even assign assistants to newcomers like Huang Zicheng.

Zhou Lan has never explained herself.

She deliberately doesn’t want Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting to develop bad habits.

In this circle, there really are a lot of artists whose fame hasn’t taken off yet, but their attitude is already like they’re emperors.

Zhou Lan really can’t stand that kind of thing.

Now, it’s not that Zhou Lan is planning to give them assistants, but that she wants to assign them an agent specifically responsible for their business contacts.

She can handle the big picture, decide what projects they take on next, what variety shows they appear on, but it’s impossible for her to handle every trivial detail herself.

She simply doesn’t have the energy.

If she insists on keeping everything in her own hands, it will only slow them down.

Under these circumstances, who to find as the person in charge of their concrete affairs becomes a big problem.

In fact, Zhou Lan really wants to cultivate Zheng Xiaojue and Cao Jun.

Especially Zheng Xiaojue.

Over the past year, Zheng Xiaojue has learned quite a bit while following her.

She’s very quick on the uptake; after this year, she’s already familiar with a lot of the business, and their partners all have a pretty high opinion of her.

But Zhou Lan is hesitant to move Zheng Xiaojue, because Zhou Yun’s side needs her even more.

Zhou Yun has too much work; if Zheng Xiaojue hadn’t taken over a large portion of it, things would have ground to a halt long ago.

Zhou Lan hesitated for a long time and felt she still needed to talk it over with Zhou Yun.

When Zhou Yun heard that Zhou Lan wanted to adjust Zheng Xiaojue’s work—in precise terms, to promote Zheng Xiaojue, make her an official agent and have her start handling agency business for both Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting—her first reaction was reluctance.

She’s already very used to working with Zheng Xiaojue.

Without Zheng Xiaojue by her side helping her deal with so many things, she feels like she wouldn’t be able to move an inch.

But after thinking it through, Zhou Yun also knew that this was a good opportunity for Zheng Xiaojue.

If Zheng Xiaojue can officially become an agent, it would be a step up to a whole new level in her career development.

Zhou Yun also hopes that Zheng Xiaojue can gain that kind of growth.

So after a rational deliberation, Zhou Yun still agreed to this.
