Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1336: Chapter 702: This Isn’t Just About the Two of Them (Part 2)

”I think this is a good thing.” Zhou Yun said, ”As for the specific matters around me, how about this: Xiaoju can be the executive broker for both Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting, but she doesn’t have to follow me around everywhere like she does now. Xiaoyun can follow me, and we can also train Xiaoyun.”

Zhou Lan: ”That’s the best way. I was thinking the same thing, but with this arrangement, we’ll have to find you a new assistant.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Alright.”

”Then I’ll go talk to them about this matter.” Zhou Lan said, ”By the way, let Xiaoju be responsible for recruiting the new assistant. It’s time for her to take on more responsibility.”

Zheng Xiaojue has been Zhou Yun’s assistant for nearly three years.

During these three years, Zheng Xiaojue has grown rapidly.

Zhou Yun originally thought Zheng Xiaojue would happily accept this change.

Who knew Zheng Xiaojue was actually very resistant.

She said to Zhou Yun, ”Sister Xiao Yun, Sister Lan wants me to be an agent, but I feel like I don’t have the ability yet. Can you help me talk to Sister Lan?”

Zhou Yun was extremely surprised.

”You don’t want to be an agent?”

Zheng Xiaojue shook her head and said, ”I feel like I don’t have that kind of ability right now.”

Zhou Yun: ”Sister Lan and I both think you’re ready to handle it independently, Xiaoju. This is a good opportunity. Actually, when Sister Lan first mentioned it to me, I also disagreed. You’ve been my assistant for almost three years, and I’m used to having you by my side no matter what work I’m doing. But this is an opportunity for you to grow. You can’t be my assistant until you’re forty or fifty, right?”

Zheng Xiaojue fell into hesitation.

Zhou Yun’s words hit a point she cared about.

Zheng Xiaojue is not someone who doesn’t want to improve and develop herself.

She just instinctively became timid when presented with an opportunity.

In her current assistant role, Zheng Xiaojue is doing very well and is very familiar with the work.

She’s a bit reluctant to step out of her comfort zone.

It’s an unknown position, facing unknown challenges that she knows of in outline but not in specifics.

She fears she might not be competent enough.

Seeing Zheng Xiaojue’s hesitation, Zhou Yun knew she was actually tempted by the opportunity.

Zhou Yun said, ”Xiaoju, don’t fear not doing well. Everyone faces the unknown before taking on a new job. However, as long as it’s a better opportunity, the unknown is a challenge, isn’t it? Look at me, I still need to work with different companies and directors. But before I actually get on set, I don’t know what the collaboration will be like either. I get nervous too, and you know that.”

Zheng Xiaojue nodded.

”But this job is so precious. I’m afraid I’ll let you and Sister Lan down.” Zheng Xiaojue confessed. ”If I screw up, it affects not only me but also the careers of Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting.”

”Don’t worry, Sister Lan will have your back.” Zhou Yun said, ”Moreover, based on everyone’s evaluation of your previous work, everyone agrees that your work capability is strong. Serving as an executive broker for them is definitely not a problem. Didn’t you act as my executive broker for a while before? Didn’t you do pretty well? Why do you lack confidence in yourself?”

Zheng Xiaojue said, ”That’s different. Actually, most of your work, Sister Xiao Yun, was already set, and I just had to handle some details. But with Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting, it’s different. They’re newcomers, and I’m a newcomer too. I’m worried I don’t have the capability to provide them with the support they need at this stage.”

”Then what do you think they need most at this stage?” Zhou Yun asked.

”Opportunities, opportunities for exposure.” Zheng Xiaojue said. ”They need to let others know who they are. Huang Zicheng is slightly better because of that previous rumor in the crew. People have an impression of him. But for Lu Zhongting, what he lacks most now is an opportunity to be known by more people.”

”See, you actually understand well what kind of help they need at this stage,” Zhou Yun said. ”As for how to provide them with help, that’s something you need to work on. But as long as one knows what needs to be done, other problems aren’t as difficult. The only thing left is to put in the effort.”
