Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1309: Chapter 693: Reconciliation (Part 2)

As the helm of New Shield, Yao Yuanfeng has dealt with countless directors.

He knows well that mutual dissatisfaction between two people is normal, but once an irreconcilable conflict arises, it inevitably leads to parting ways.

For many directors, they are not purely profit-driven; compared to the potential benefits of cooperation, they value the pleasure during the collaboration process more.

Therefore, Yao Yuanfeng has always been careful in finding the balance.

He feels it’s necessary for him to personally visit the set of ”Female Assassin”.

Yao Yuanfeng is known outside as bold, with a vigorous style of work and a gallant appearance, but he’s actually a very meticulous person.

Of course, without being meticulous, he wouldn’t handle so many interpersonal relationships so well.

Any boss who grows a company to the scale of New Shield must have their own skills in handling people and understanding human nature.

The secretary suddenly came knocking.

”President Yao,” the secretary said, ”Zhou Lan is here, outside saying she wants to meet you.”

Yao Yuanfeng nodded, ”Let her in.”

The secretary nodded and left.

A moment later, Zhou Lan walked in.

With a smile on her face, she affectionately said as she entered, ”President Yao, I’m here again.”

Yao Yuanfeng stood up warmly and said, ”Lanlan, you’re here, sit down, something to drink? Wine or coffee?”

Zhou Lan said, ”If President Yao is not in a hurry with time, I’ll have a drink with you?”

”Haha, now that you’re here, even if I were in a hurry I wouldn’t be,” Yao Yuanfeng said, ”I just got a good bottle of wine, let’s taste it together.”

...

Zhou Yun finished filming and was preparing to return to the hotel for rest when she suddenly received a call from Zhou Lan.

Sitting in the car, Zhou Yun answered the call and asked, ”Sister Lan, what’s up?”

Zhou Lan’s voice was brimming with uncontrollable excitement.

”I’ve negotiated the overseas box office share for the second part of ’Two Tigers’!” Zhou Lan said.

Zhou Yun was aware that Zhou Lan has been in a tug-of-war with Yao Yuanfeng about this matter for a while, and now that Zhou Lan had finally succeeded, Zhou Yun could understand why Zhou Lan was so excited.

Zhou Lan had previously said that regarding the overseas box office share, it wasn’t something Yao Yuanfeng couldn’t accept; but surely Yao Yuanfeng wished to have Zhou Yun agree to star in the second part of ”Two Tigers” at the lowest cost possible. Zhou Lan persistently held onto this substantial share, making Yao Yuanfeng realize that Zhou Yun’s side wasn’t bluffing but was resolutely insisting on getting box office bonuses, which is when Yao Yuanfeng would truly consider the feasibility of the matter.

Zhou Lan dared to bid as such because she had her own confidence.

First, although New Shield could do all sorts of publicity and underplay Zhou Yun’s contribution to the first part of ”Two Tigers”, both sides were well aware that Zhou Yun’s contribution, especially in bringing heat and topics during the Spring Festival release, far surpassed Liang Yuanpu’s.

Second, ”Two Tigers” has now finished its domestic release but has been selling overseas for the past few months.

Yao Yuanfeng personally felt the interest and importance overseas film distributors placed on Zhou Yun.

Many Chinese actors often boast about being international superstars, announcing hundreds of thousands of fans and followers overseas.

But when it comes to influence, very few have any at all.

The biggest difference with Zhou Yun is that many overseas film distributors genuinely come to purchase films for Zhou Yun as an actor.

Yao Yuanfeng, having run New Shield for so many years, deeply understands the positioning of Chinese films in the international market.

There are fewer than five actors in China who can really get overseas productions to buy films.

So after further engagement, Yao Yuanfeng had a deeper understanding of Zhou Yun’s value.

Thus, he accepted Zhou Lan’s demand for overseas box office bonuses.

Zhou Yun knew how much effort Zhou Lan had put into this matter during this time, exhausting herself.

”Sister Lan, you’ve worked hard during this period, thank you,” Zhou Yun said. ”Without you, I definitely wouldn’t have been able to negotiate this bonus myself; it’s great to have you.”

Zhou Lan laughed heartily and said, ”That’s my job responsibility, moreover, if you get more bonuses, so do I, right? But Xiao Yun, I’m particularly happy today; stealing this substantial share from Yao Yuanfeng, the wolf, is truly a milestone achievement in my career.”

Zhou Yun laughed.
