I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 449, Hmm! This is Complicated

“Can I use your hair?” Co Co said, a bit embarrassed.

Originally, she wanted to do the experiment herself, but her hair was too long, dragging on the ground. So, it would not fit in the wooden bowl. Even if it did, it would be difficult to wash and would take a very long time to dry.

By then, she would not have the time to complete the experiment, and instead would have created a lot of trouble for herself. In fact, when making soap, she always found others to experiment on.

Co Co often went to the Tribe to find girls with short hair for her experiments, as their hair was shorter and easier to wash.

“So that’s what this is about. I was wondering what was going on.” Yu Ying nodded thoughtfully and immediately said, “Okay.”

Co Co nodded, asking Yu Ying to bend over and put her head into the wooden bowl, letting the water completely soak her hair.

She then took some water with that light green thing, lathered it up, and applied it to her pink hair.

Co Co waited until there was enough foam and then started to scrub. She kept massaging close to the scalp.

“How is it? Is the pressure enough?” Co Co softly asked, afraid she was using too much strength.

Yu Ying kept her eyes closed, and her soft voice sounded, “It’s just about right, the pressure feels very comfortable.”

In fact, Yu Ying found it to be too comfortable. The feeling of having her hair soaked in water while someone massaged her scalp was incredibly pleasant. Moreover, she had not washed her hair for two or three days, and yesterday she had left the Tribe to go to the Hunting Ground.

Her head collected many leaves, dust, and other things, inevitably making her scalp uncomfortable and somewhat itchy.

So, when Co Co washed her scalp, it was truly bliss.

“That’s good.” Co Co continued to scrub her head, making sure to wash it thoroughly.

Ten minutes later, she removed her hands and used clean water to rinse the foam from her head. Then, she wrapped her hair with clean Animal Hide, ensuring the pink hair would not be dripping wet.

After wiping her hair for quite a while, she also wiped her pink fox ears.

Because washing hair would definitely wet her ears, and since her ears were also fluffy, they definitely needed to be wiped as well.

Typical Demi-Humans did not have this habit. Every time after a bath, they would just wipe their hair and tail and consider it done.

But Su Bai told them they could not do this. The ears should also be wiped, and the inside of the ears needed to be cleaned too. Why? Because animal ears were different from Human ears. They were fluffy, easily trapping more dirt, and their ear canal was also deeper.

If they were not cleaned properly, bacteria could easily grow, which would cause unnecessary diseases.

“How is it? Does it feel comfortable after washing?” Co Co asked with an expectant face.

Although the previous experiments were all considered successful, this was the first time experimenting in front of the Shaman. So, she was a bit nervous.

Yu Ying nodded without hesitation and said with a satisfied face, “Very comfortable, it feels completely different from when I wash my hair.”

At this moment, Yu Ying could feel that her scalp was very clean. It was as if her scalp had undergone a real deep cleaning. This feeling was incredibly soothing and comfortable.

Previously, when washing hair, she would just roughly scrub and consider it done. Even if she washed as clean as possible, she always felt there was something left. Eventually, that feeling became the norm, and was easily ignored.

“That’s good.” Co Co breathed a sigh of relief and turned back to say, “Shaman, this is also successful.”

The smile on Co Co’s face could no longer be suppressed. The corners of her mouth began to visibly curl upward.

Su Bai had seen all of this and nodded with satisfaction, “Yeah. You did well. Are these two things troublesome to make?”

Success was one thing, but whether the production process was simple was another matter. If the production was very troublesome, requiring a long time, or if the materials needed were numerous and difficult to find, then this item would not have much significance.

Things that are to be manufactured at this point could not be too complex. Complicated things that take time to produce are low-yield items that would not be worth it at their current stage.

After all, there was no money to be made from manufacturing these things. In this Primitive Era, there was no concept of money. He wanted this item only to make the Tribe better. But of course, this was based on the premise that it was not too difficult to make.

“It’s not difficult to make, and it doesn’t require many things. Previously, because I was experimenting, it took a bit longer, but now I know how to do it. In fact, I can make many pieces in a day/” Co Co said with a smile.

Co Co was so happy to know that what she made was useful for the Tribe. Actually, making these few items had cost her quite a bit of energy, and she had to experiment with many things.

The first experiment Co Co did was with wood ash, because she saw it noted on Su Bai’s notes that wood ash could be used as a detergent because it contained something called potassium carbonate, which could remove dirt from clothes.

Of course, the terms on it had been explained by Su Bai, making them simple and understandable.

Now, the literacy level and progress of the girls in the cement house had greatly improved, and they knew many everyday words.

Co Co’s research on detergent involved a mixture of wood ash and shell ash.

Shell ash contains calcium hydroxide, and when mixed with wood ash, it produces potassium hydroxide. When used to soak fabrics in water, it chemically reacts with the oil on the surface of the fabrics to produce a substance that washes the fabrics clean and leaves them bright.

Although those linen clothes were not the typical fabric, the effectiveness in cleaning was about the same.

“It’s good that it’s not difficult to make. We can produce more that way, and we’ll use them first. After that, we distribute some to the Chieftain and others. After you become proficient in creating them, you can teach others how to make them.” Su Bai said.

“Understood. I will continue to experiment and make it better.” Co Co gave a firm nod.
