I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 409, Check In Reward

In the early morning, Su Bai opened his black eyes to the sound of rain outside. He sat up halfway and began stretching his body. Last night he had been making Shaman Bone Tablets until very late.

He had been busy until after two o’clock before going to sleep, because he felt inspired, and each Shaman Bone Tablet he made was better than the last. So, he just kept making them with pause, even replacing the fruit oil lamp once, and brewing many pots of tea as well.

Last night, Yu Ying had even fallen asleep beside him, still holding a needle in her hand as she slept, her head nodding adorably.

Su Bai could not bear to see her staying up late with him, so he picked her up and placed her on the bed in her room.

Then he came back out to continue making Shaman Bone Tablets, refilling his own tea, though he often forgot to do so.

[System, check in and open the Assistance Package,] Su Bai silently checked in within his heart.

Su Bai looked at the book that appeared in his hands out of thin air and thought with surprise. [Wait. A brewing manual? What a surprise. This is great news.]

Recently, the System had been providing quite a few books, not just the previous herbal encyclopaedia, Straw Sandal Crafting Guide, and glass manufacturing guide, but now also a brewing manual.

However, any Assistance Package related to books was great finds, almost all were useful. Each one also helped with the development of the Tribe, which was why he was so happy.

Moreover, the book provided now was a brewing manual. He had been worrying about how to brew alcohol. After all, the wheat he had planted was ready for harvest, and it would be a shame not to know how to brew with it.

After all, alcohol was also a kind of delicacy, and it would be a pity if the Tribe did not have good wine. Su Bai actually could not remember the details of brewing. He only knew that wheat and grapes could be used for brewing, but he did not know the specifics.

Afterall, brewing was not an easy thing to do, there were quite a few things to pay attention to. If even one or two steps was not done properly, it could easily ruin an entire vat of alcohol.

[Today, I can go see if the wheat has ripened. If it has, it would be perfect for brewing.]

When he went to check the greenhouse yesterday, he discovered that the wheat had already formed ears, and the entire plant was starting to turn yellow. Considering that it had only just shown signs of flowering the day before yesterday, and was already yellowing yesterday, it should be ripe today.

Thinking of this, Su Bai got up, stretched his body, changed his clothes, and left the room.

*Step step step…* When he reached the living room, he saw Yu Ying had just walked in, her shoulders slightly damp.

“Shaman, good morning, I just got back from the greenhouse and the sheep pen.” Yu Ying’s soft voice sounded.

“How is the wheat doing? Can it be harvested?” Su Bai picked up a wooden cup and took a sip of water.

“Hmm…” Yu Ying thought seriously for a while before asking. “Shaman, what does it mean that it can be harvested? Is it the same as tomatoes?”

She did not know what wheat looked like when it was ready for harvest, after all, it was the first time she had seen wheat. She only knew that tomatoes were ripe when they turned red, so that was all she could think of.

“Hahaha,” Su Bai laughed and said. “How is that possible? Wheat is ripe when it turns yellow.”

He was truly amused by her innocence, not expecting her to be so pure.

“So that’s what it means to be ripe?” Yu Ying was a bit surprised and continued. “If that’s the case, then the wheat is already ripe. When I went to the greenhouse this morning, I saw that everything was yellow.”

When she entered the greenhouse this morning, she was a bit shocked to see that the area where the wheat was planted was all golden yellow. At first, she thought there was something wrong with the wheat, but upon closer inspection, she found it was fine and assumed it was just the normal growth pattern of wheat.

So, she did not pay much attention to it, intending to tell the Shaman when she got back, but before she could speak, she was asked a question.

“Good, very good. Have someone harvest some and bring them back. I need to use them.” Su Bai smiled.

He had originally planned to use all this wheat for food, save some seeds, replant them, and then make other arrangements. But now that the System had suddenly provided a brewing manual, there was no time like the present to experiment.

“Alright, I’ll go have someone harvest some right away,” Yu Ying immediately nodded, then asked. “Shaman, how do we harvest it? Do we pull out the entire plant?”

She did not know how to harvest wheat, she had only seen potatoes and sweet potatoes being harvested.

Those were pulled out entirely, or like tomatoes, where the red tomatoes were picked.

“Have people take bone knives close to the bottom of the wheat, then cut it.” Su Bai instructed.

The method of harvesting wheat was very simple, just cut it close to the bottom.

“I understand, I’ll go now.” Yu Ying nodded.

*Step step step…* Yu Ying stepped out of the living room, planning to find someone while also trying to see how to harvest wheat herself.

Two hours later, she and a team of workers returned to the living room carrying a large pile of wheat.

“Shaman, did we do it correctly?” Yu Ying curiously asked.

A large bundle of wheat was placed on the floor of the living room, all cut close to the bottom.

“Yes, all done right.” Su Bai nodded with satisfaction.

“Shaman, what do we do after harvesting?” Yu Ying asked.

Su Bai walked to the wheat and looked at it, saying. “We need to remove each grain from the top.”

Yu Ying widened her pink eyes in surprise. “We need to remove all those things from the top one by one?”

She was baffled. There were far too many grains at the top. If they had to pick them one by one, who knew how long it would take.
