I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 424, Double Moon

Translator: Silavin

At noon, the Sun in the sky began to gradually grow larger, no longer appearing gloomy like during the rainy season.

At this moment, the Flame Dragon Tribe could be described as full of vitality. After several days of bright sunshine, the ground everywhere had dried up and was no longer muddy as before.

The Tribesmen had already started working – digging foundations, transporting stone, making grass ash cement, and paving roads. Not a single task had stopped. Everything was proceeding with great intensity, and everyone’s face was filled with laughter and joy.

Although they had not done much work during the month-long rainy season, when they resumed working, they did not show the slightest bit of laziness.

In fact, seeing the Tribe move from the original Teepees to wooden houses, and now to cement houses, all these changes were too shocking for them. They certainly hoped the Tribe would get better and better, and what they were doing now was that – making the Tribe better. Since this was going to directly improve their lives, how could they be unwilling to work hard?

Meanwhile, members of the Hunting Team had regrouped after more than a month of rest. They were about to head to the Hunting Ground again to hunt for food in preparation for the upcoming snow season.

The people heading to the Spotted Deer Market had also assembled. They brought linen and ceramics made during the rainy season, preparing to trade them for large quantities of dried meat.

However, this time, the quantity of ceramics was not very large because of the rainy season. Many ceramics could not be dried after all.

The kilns for firing ceramics could not be operated outside and had to be moved indoors too. Because they were indoors, the kilns could not fire as many ceramics at once; too many would produce too much smoke inside the building. So, the quantity of ceramics had decreased much more than linen.

Still, the ceramics would be traded for far more items. Since there were not many, and that they were rare, each piece was worth more.

Since the rainy season had ended, the Warriors’ regular training also resumed. For them, the snow season would be a difficult time for them – a stage they had to persevere through. If they could not get through this stage, they would not be able to become Totem Warriors.

It had to be said that the weather during the snow season was rather strange, with a Double Moon appearing, which greatly helped stimulate the Totem Power within their bodies.

Su Bai stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window, looking at the changes in the Tribe, feeling emotional at this moment. It seemed as if his transmigration, and those days living in Teepees, had just been yesterday.

“Shaman, I’ve already had them plant the Wheat you’ve set aside, as well as the potatoes and tomatoes.” Yu Ying said.

In the morning, Su Bai had asked Yu Ying to arrange for these things, because the snow season would arrive in just over 20 days. The planting of these items also needed to keep pace.

Although they had a greenhouse, and they need not be concerned with the weather, there were more and more people in the Tribe. They had to ensure the entire Tribe could eat Wheat. Thus, they needed to increase the produce.

In fact, they also had to increase the planting area.

The current planting areas were not all inside the greenhouse. There was newly sectioned land as well.

After thinking for many days, Su Bai decided to clear a large area near the greenhouse.

That area of land was decided to be used as farmland, and this expanded area was quite large.

The greenhouse was at the previous main entrance of the Tribe, and the distance from the main entrance to the forest was quite far. Thus, there was a large stretch of land that had no trees, only grass and weed. This made it an area easy to convert to farmland.

To make the Tribe self-sufficient, agriculture was essential, and for agriculture to develop, farmland was a necessity.

The reason Su Bai was in such a hurry was that the snow season was approaching, and it was unrealistic to build greenhouses for all these farmlands in time.

Greenhouses could continue to be built, but farmland also needed to be made in time. The crops planted in this farmland would be enhanced with Growth Acceleration Skill, which would ensure harvest before the arrival of the snow season.

“Have all the assigned farmlands been planted?” Su Bai asked.

The vacant land reclaimed as farmland near the greenhouse was as large as four or five football fields from Earth. They had been converted into farmland using hoes over the past two days. For now, the area was not very large, but it was more than enough to plant the existing crop yield.

“All have been planted. Wheat takes the majority of it, followed by potatoes.” Yu Ying reported.

In the morning, Yu Ying had stayed near the greenhouses for the entire morning just to ensure those working at the field had planted those seeds properly.

“En, check the situation in a couple of days and let me know if there’s still a need for me to use my Shaman Technique.” Su Bai said.

The Wheat, tomatoes, and potatoes that had been planted had all been enhanced with his Growth Acceleration Skill.

The Skill had been used on their parent plant, and then again before sowing, so it had been used twice in total. Su Bai did not want to use it again after sowing. He wanted to treat this like an experiment – to see if the seeds from the plants that had previously been treated with his Growth Acceleration Skill would grow fast after he used the Skill again.

If they grew faster, it would mean that crops that had been treated with Growth Acceleration Skill would produce seeds that grew much faster than usual. This would be equivalent to improving the seeds itself.

After several improvements, these crops would be able to grow quickly even without further application of his Growth Acceleration Skill.

“I understand,” Yu Ying nodded.

“How is the construction of the greenhouse going? What about the construction of sheep pens and cattle pens?” Su Bai asked.

Once the rainy season ended, many tasks had to be accelerated. He thought that the number of greenhouses needed to be increased, as well as the cattle and sheep pens.

With so many people in the Tribe, the crops produced by a single greenhouse would not cut it. And with the snow season approaching, the dependence on the greenhouse would be even greater, so the number of greenhouses being built also needed to increase.

Furthermore, the cattle and sheep had gone through more than a month of the rainy season, and some had been pregnant before. So, there were now many more lambs and calves.

In the future, they would also be capturing more animals to raise, so they needed to expand the area for animal husbandry.

“Yes, the Chieftain has arranged people to build them. It should be done in four or five days,” Yu Ying said.

Although the construction speed would not take long, collecting firewood would take time.

“Let those girls from other Tribes stay in the wooden cabins for now. Don’t let them do anything.” Su Bai instructed.

He temporarily did not want those girls, who came over after the Pink Flower Festival. to come into contact with some things in the Tribe.

Although people in the Primitive Era were very innocent, and once married, they would be people of the Flame Dragon Tribe, he did not want to let them come into contact with such matters yet. They should stay in the Flame Dragon Tribe for some time first, and be judged if they were trustworthy or not.

“Alright,” Yu Ying nodded.
