I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 431, A Shaman Cannot Take This Risk!

Su Bai carefully observed the hot air balloon, from the basket that would carry people to the balloon that would expand.

He also examined the heating device in the middle of the hot air balloon, inspecting each component with great attention to each detail.

After all, in this Primitive Era, he was the only one who truly understood how hot air balloons worked, so he had to take full responsibility if there were any faults. If the hot air balloon were to malfunction and fall, the consequences should be all on his shoulders.

He was considering that after the hot air balloon was inflated, he would be the first to go up.

After thoroughly checking for more than ten minutes, he finally nodded with satisfaction, confirming that everything was in order.

“Well done. The hot air balloon is perfect.” Su Bai nodded and smiled, which surprised him.

He had not expected it would be made so perfectly, especially since this was their first attempt.

“That’s really wonderful, I was worried there might be some problems,” Gu Mu sighed with relief.

As he aged, he had become increasingly cautious, especially since this device would be used by the Shaman, which required even greater care.

The Shaman was vital to the entire Tribe’s development and future, and it would be terrible if anything happened because of a single mistake.

So, when he received the drawing, he felt both excited and concerned—excited that such an important task was entrusted to him. He was also worried that such an important task was given to him, and what if he could not implement it to the perfection the Shaman had foreseen?

“Have them start inflating it, and then we’ll test the hot air balloon.” Su Bai instructed.

He was already eager to ride a hot air balloon and get a view of the entire primitive world from high above.

“Yes,” Gu Mu nodded and ordered the apprentices to begin inflation.

After about ten minutes, the previously flat and deflated balloon on the ground began to transform into an enormous balloon, standing tall and upright.

Once the balloon was inflated, the apprentices lit the fire in the designated fire basin.

*Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…* The flames in the basin burned vigorously, continuously making whooshing sounds. The frame was positioned very close to the bottom of the balloon.

The heat from the burning flames in the fire basin steadily flowed into the hot air balloon.

“Shaman, you can board the hot air balloon now,” Gu Mu returned and said.

When the fire burned more intensely and the heat became stronger, there would be more hot air inside. Then, after removing the weights, the hot air balloon would slowly begin to rise.

“Shaman, this is too dangerous. Let us try it first,” Sha Lan immediately said.

Although she was amazed by the hot air balloon, she remained rational. To suddenly say that this hot air balloon could ascend with the Shaman on board naturally caused some concern. If something were to happen to the hot air balloon while in the air, wouldn’t that be extremely dangerous? So, she absolutely could not allow the Shaman to put himself in danger.

“Yes, Shaman, let us try it first. You can ride the second time after we confirm it is safe.” Yan Hua immediately agreed.

She had almost forgotten about this issue, as her attention had been completely captured by the hot air balloon.

“Shaman, Ah’Hua and the others are right. This is only the first test. We cannot have you take such risks/” Yu Ying immediately said, her emotions had changed from initial shock and excitement to worry. She truly did not want the Shaman to be placed in danger.

“Well, you shouldn’t be the first either. Let the apprentices try it, as they understand the hot air balloon better,” Su Bai said.

He originally had planned to ride the hot air balloon on its first flight, as it needed to be test-flown first.

Since there were such strong objections, the first test should be handled by the apprentices, since they had been involved in reviewing the blueprint he drew up and the construction. They certainly understood it better than the girls.

“Shaman, it’s fine. We’ve already tested it twice, and both times there were no issues at all,” Gu Mu immediately said.

He certainly would never let the Shaman take on any risks. When the hot air balloon was successfully built, he had his apprentices try flying it first before talking to the Shaman.

In fact, they had tested it not once but twice, and both test flights had yielded excellent results.

Su Bai’s thick eyebrows raised slightly as he nodded with satisfaction and praised, “Well done.”

He could not help but admire Gu Mu. Indeed, with age comes caution. He was surprised that they had already conducted test flights in advance.

“Shaman, let’s wait a bit longer. I’ve already sent for Shu Feng, Cheng Shi, and Ai’er to come. With them here, it will be even safer.” Sha Lan immediately said.

Sha Lan was also very cautious by nature. Since she knew the hot air balloon would fly up, they should have people with wings as a precaution. If something were to happen to the hot air balloon while in the air, those with wings could rescue the Shaman.

“Alright.” Su Bai reached out and gently patted her head. [She really is cautious.]

*Step step step…* Half an hour later, Shu Feng and the others arrived and boarded the hot air balloon with Su Bai and his group.

*Whoosh, whoosh, whoosh…*

The apprentices and Gu Mu also boarded the hot air balloon, as they were more familiar with its structure.

They would be responsible for controlling the ascent and descent of the balloon, so they had to accompany them.

The flames in the fire basin continued to burn, and the hot air they generated caused the hot air balloon to slowly rise.

The basket of the hot air balloon began to lift off the ground bit by bit, and after a minute, the entire basket had completely left the ground.

Yan Hua leaned against the side of the basket, looking down at the ground, and exclaimed in amazement, “It’s really flying!”

She was overjoyed, her red eyes continuously blinking. She kept watching as the distance between the hot air balloon and the ground increased, but she dared not move too much, fearing that any large movements might cause the hot air balloon to fall back down.

“Yes, it’s really flying. Amazing…” Sha Lan also leaned against the side of the basket.

Her cat tail swished happily, though she was also somewhat concerned.

This was her first time seeing a hot air balloon, let alone riding in one. Besides excitement, there was also some worry.

Her focus was different from Yan Hua. While the other was completely fixated on the changing distance between the hot air balloon and the ground, she stayed close to the Shaman, afraid something might go wrong.

Sha Lan’s expression alternated between excitement and worry, her hands quietly gripping the sides of the basket.

Yu Ying was the same; she was not that excited. Rather, she was more frightened.

Despite her initial excitement, she was now crouched down low, hands tightly gripping the sides of the basket. Her chin was resting on the back of her hands as she dared not open her eyes.
