[System, check in and open the Assistance Package] Su Bai quickly commanded the System while Yu Ying was not around.

Su Bai nodded with satisfaction at the sugarcane that appeared on the table and exclaimed in his mind, [Oh, we can now make white sugar.]

This wave of Assistance Package came at just the right time. Now, the Tribe could have sugar!

With sugar, they could make more types of food, such as desserts and other items.

The main ingredient of white sugar was sugarcane, as it was extracted from sugarcane. In other words, this bundle of sugarcane was going to be very helpful for the Tribe’s development.

[Planting this bundle will yield quite a harvest.] Su Bai roughly counted the sugarcane, which numbered close to twenty stalks.

Moreover, these were all the most tender parts of the sugarcane, which were most suitable for the Tribe to plant.

Sugarcane did not have seeds. Generally, they were cut from the stalk of an immature cane. In this regard, they were similar to potatoes.

“These can’t be eaten. They’re too tender and wouldn’t taste good.” Su Bai muttered to himself.

However, this bundle of sugarcane was suitable for planting; if eaten, they probably would not have much flavour as sugarcane that was too tender typically did not taste that sweet.

“Let’s plant them first, use the Growth Acceleration Skill to have them quickly mature, then harvest them to make sugar…” Su Bai murmured.

White sugar could be extracted from sugarcane. With it, the Tribe could now enjoy sweet desserts. It had to be noted that desserts greatly increase one’s happiness, and they could also be traded for a considerable amount of food due to how addictive they were.

Moreover, desserts could serve as a gateway to attract people to the Tribe, especially since this era had very few sweet foods.

*Step step step…* Su Bai took the bundle of sugarcane and left the cement house, planning to personally plant the sugarcane. [The sooner I plant them, the better.]

The sugarcanes still had green leaves; if he waited too long, they might wrinkle up, reducing their survival rate when planted.

After twenty minutes, he arrived outside the Tribe, ready to plant the sugarcane there.

With more than twenty days until the arrival of the snow season, there was no need to plant the sugarcane in a greenhouse.

Planting them outside would be fine, allowing them to enjoy sufficient sunlight, which would help them grow faster.

He spent over ten minutes planting the sugarcane, then used the Growth Acceleration Skill.

Su Bai looked up at the surrounding farmland, which was planted with Wheat, tomatoes, and potatoes, though they had not sprouted yet.

Looking out, everything was still dark and barren, with nothing to see except the loose soil.

“But this place will soon become a lush farmland.” Su Bai said with satisfaction.

He had already planned to cultivate all the nearby area into farmland to meet the food needs of the entire Tribe.

Setting up farmland would also give many people in the Tribe something to do, rather than some going hunting while others only staying inside the Tribe.

Su Bai’s idea was that only those who worked could exchange their labour for food, rather than getting food just for staying in the Tribe.

This was not what he wanted. He wanted to transform the Tribe into a city, exchanging labour for food was essential.

If someone wanted to eat, they needed to work. This had already been an established rule in the Flame Dragon Tribe.

Currently in the Flame Dragon Tribe, if someone had nothing to do, they would not be given dried meat for the day; they would only be given food if they had worked for that day.

“But with farmland, we need to recruit more people to tend to them. Where can we get them from?” Su Bai could not help thinking.

The Labour force was what the Tribe needed most for development. If there were not enough people, the pace of development would be limited.

Su Bai had many plans that required many people to implement, and the current Tribe members were far from enough.

Among the current Tribe members, apart from those who hunted, built houses, made linen, ceramics, and so on, there were not many people who could take on the job.

Most of the remaining people were women, and they were inefficient in doing heavy labour. They could at most handle smaller tasks.

Moreover, he had many arrangements for the women of the Tribe. He planned to set up various workshops and put their dexterity to good use.

The women would be assigned to different workshops, as the Tribe needed to start building workshops extensively to develop further.

Not just agriculture, but industrial aspects also needed to be developed. He wanted to create a two-pronged approach for development.

“Do I have to recruit from other Tribes?” Su Bai frowned and shook his head. “That’s not realistic.”

He had been pondering this issue for the past few days, ever since learning about the Blossom Festival.

He knew that although many girls would come to their Tribe, girls from his Tribe would also leave. In the end, the difference in numbers, though still an increase, was hardly a dent to what he needed.

“I want them to be loyal to our Tribe. If we could promote ourselves well, maybe we can attract more people to our Tribe?” Su Bai suddenly thought. [Yeah! Rather than actively seeking others to join, it would be better to have people voluntarily come, making them more committed to staying. These people would also bring more people to the Tribe through word of mouth.]

“But what method should we use? I know. As for the breakthrough point, the Spotted Deer Tribe will do…” Su Bai murmured.

He thought of the populous Spotted Deer Tribe, where people came and went every day, including people from different Tribes.

The Spotted Deer Tribe was definitely the best choice for his plan.

[With the right attraction, we can surely draw in many people to join the Tribe.]
