I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 410, I Really Have to Wonder About This

“Hahaha. Of course I don’t expect you to pick them one by one with your hands,” Su Bai laughed.

“Shaman, if we don’t use our hands, how can we get the grains off?” Yu Ying asked. She could not think of a better way to get the grains off one by one.

“It’s not difficult. We can make a simple machine to extract the grains.” Su Bai smiled.

“Shaman, do we need to ask Uncle Gu Mu or Uncle Shan Qiu for help?” Yu Ying asked.

“No need. I already had them make it earlier. We just need to take it out and use it.” Su Bai shook his head.

Yu Ying blinked her pink eyes and asked, “Oh? Is it that wooden frame that was brought over a few days ago?”

She had seen someone deliver a wooden frame a few days ago, which had been kept in the study room since then.

“Yes, that’s the one. It’s used to separate the grain from the Wheat Straw.” Su Bai said.

“Then I’ll go bring it out.” Yu Ying had the people helping with the Wheat bring out that simple wooden frame.

The wooden frame was quite simple. It had a tripod on each side with a large round barrel in the middle, and the barrel had small wooden blocks protruding from it.

There was a large wooden board behind the barrel as a shield, and there was a pedal under the wooden frame. Very easily, the simple machine for separating grains from the Wheat Straw was ready.

“Shaman, is this it?” Yu Ying asked.

“Yes, this is it.” Su Bai nodded, bent down to pick up a small bundle of Wheat, then stepped on the pedal, and the round barrel in the middle of the wooden frame began to rotate.

*Whirr whirr whirr…* The barrel began to rapidly rotate, and Su Bai placed the Wheat on the rotating barrel.

*Clatter clatter…* The rotating barrel had many protruding wooden blocks that kept rotating at high speed, and the Wheat kept colliding with these blocks.

The grains on the Wheat were stripped away one by one by the high-speed rotating wooden blocks, and those extracted grains hit the shield and fell to the ground.

A large Animal Hide was spread on the ground to collect the falling grains to prevent them from flying everywhere.

“Amazing…” Yu Ying watched in amazement, surprised that this seemingly clumsy machine could thresh so much grain out at such a fast pace.

She was completely astonished. She had thought they would need to pick the grains one by one, but had not expected it to be so convenient and so easy to do. This way, the grains on the ground could be easily stripped, saving a lot of time.

“Do you want to try?” Su Bai smiled and asked.

Yu Ying was stunned for a moment and asked, “Can I? Can I really try it?”

She had wanted to try it but did not have the courage to ask, thinking that the machine seemed very difficult to operate.

“Of course. Just do what I did. It’s not difficult.” Su Bai encouraged.

He could feel her eager gaze while he was operating the machine. Even without looking back, he could clearly sense it.

“Okay.” Yu Ying smiled with narrowed eyes and also picked up a bundle of Wheat and walked to the front of the machine.

*Whirr whirr whirr…*

*Clatter clatter…*

Yu Ying imitated him properly, but initially found it strenuous to step on the machine.

Because operating the machine required quite a bit of strength, and she had not anticipated this, she had to almost use her full body weight to push the step down.

“Shaman, the grains are really coming off!” Yu Ying immediately smiled happily, just like a child who had suddenly received a lollipop.

“Isn’t this much faster than picking them off one by one?” Su Bai smiled and asked.

Yu Ying nodded vigorously and said with a smile, “This is so useful, I could keep turning it all day.”

Yu Ying loved playing with this machine, finding it both interesting and amazing.

“Let’s separate some gain for use now and keep the rest. We don’t need a lot right now.” Su Bai said.

They had not planted much Wheat this time. Most of it would be used for food, and a small portion would be kept for planting again.

He wanted to brew just one jar first, which would also serve as an experiment to see if it would succeed.

Anyway, with the Growth Acceleration Skill, planting another batch of Wheat would only take about ten to twenty days till they could harvest. So, the second batch would not take long.

“Okay,” Yu Ying nodded and continued to take Wheat and operate the machine. She found it too interesting and fun to stop

*Whirr whirr whirr…*

*Clatter clatter…*

She operated for twenty minutes, getting tired and stopping before resuming many times. By then, a fair number of grains had accumulated on the Animal Hide.

Originally Su Bai wanted to let Yu Ying rest and have others do it, but since she enjoyed playing with the machine so much, he let her do it.

“Shaman, is this much enough?” Yu Ying asked curiously.

“It’s enough. This much is enough,” Su Bai walked over to look and comforted her, “You should rest now.”

He felt sorry for her, since she continuously stepped on the machine, despite not even being physically trained. It had consumed a lot of energy, and she was now sweaty all over.

Yu Ying shook her head vigorously and said, “It’s fine, Shaman. I’m not tired at all.”

She was doing something she enjoyed, so she did not feel tired at all.

“Then go wipe your face first. It’s covered in sweat.” Su Bai gently said.

Yu Ying reached up to wipe her forehead and found it was indeed covered in sweat. She said, “Then I’ll go wash my face.”

“En,” Su Bai nodded slightly and squatted down to examine the Wheat grains.

He found that these Wheat grains were very plump and quite large, quite different from Wheat on Earth.

These grains seemed to be at least twice as large as those on Earth. They did not look like Wheat but more like rice. If the System had not told him this was Wheat, he really would have to wonder about it.

“I wonder how it will taste when cooked?” Su Bai murmured.

He thought that with such large Wheat grains, if used to make Wheat porridge, it would definitely be sweet and delicious.

“Since we have plenty left, let’s try making some Wheat porridge.” Su Bai said to himself.

Having Wheat in a Primitive Tribe was a very fortunate thing.

“Shaman, what’s wrong?” Yu Ying had finished washing her face and came out to hear the Shaman mumbling.

“Nothing. I was just thinking that we can have Wheat porridge tonight,” Su Bai smiled.

After all, there was still so much Wheat in the greenhouse, which was planted for eating. Now that it could be harvested, they had to taste it right away.
