I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 448, Good Things That Contribute to the Tribe

Su Bai picked up the two objects and began to examine them, discovering that they did not feel like soap. They felt somewhat similar to soft fruits.

However, the scent they emitted was not unpleasant. He had expected that combining so many strange and unusual ingredients would produce an unpleasant smell. Yet, these two objects had a rather pleasant fragrance, with a faint plant-like aroma.

“Have you already tested them?” Su Bai asked curiously, placing the two objects back into the wooden box.

“I’ve already tried them out, and the results were great. They can clean dirty linen and Animal Hide,” Co Co nodded as she spoke.

Co Co had conducted her experiment this morning, when Su Bai and the others had left the Tribe. She took clothes that were originally meant to be given to Yu Ying for washing and used them for her experiment, finding that the results exceeded her expectations.

She had thought that they might not clean as thoroughly, especially since her previous attempts had failed. But it cleaned linen really well, which surprised her.

There had been a particularly stubborn stain that normally could be washed clean with regular water. But after using the object she had developed, that stubborn stain was completely cleaned away.

“Show me how it works.” Su Bai said. Rather than listening about it, it would be more convincing to see it firsthand. Moreover, he truly wanted to know if Co Co had truly successfully developed soap and detergent. If she had indeed succeeded, it would be very helpful for the Tribe’s development.

After all, there were currently no detergent of any kind in the entire Tribe, so their clothes were never completely clean.

Although most had merely Animal Hide as clothing, they were worn directly against the skin, so if they could be cleaned more thoroughly, that would certainly be beneficial.

Furthermore, the Tribe was now preparing to start a Linen Workshop. If linen production increased, almost everyone in the Tribe would be wearing linen.

If everyone wore linen, then this detergent would become especially important.

Linen was not as resistant to dirt as Animal Hide. It easily collected dust and stubborn stains. Without detergent, linen clothing would become increasingly dirty over time.

Even though linen production was increasing and everyone in the Tribe would eventually wear linen, this did not mean everyone could afford to change their clothes frequently.

Most likely, one or two pieces of linen clothing would be worn for a very long time, making the importance of detergent self-evident.

“Alright,” Co Co nodded and turned to prepare a wooden bowl, water, and dirty linen and Animal Hide clothing.

*Step step step…*

About ten minutes later, she returned with a bowl of water, carrying a dirty piece of linen clothing and Animal Hide.

*Splash splash…* Co Co first placed the dirty linen clothing in the wooden bowl, allowing the entire garment to become soaked. Afterward, she took out the soap, moistened it a little, rubbed it on the linen clothing a few times, and then removed it.

“Shaman, this item is very simple to use. Just wet the linen clothing and this block, rub them together a few times, and then scrub the linen clothing,” Co Co explained while demonstrating.

After the linen clothing was rubbed with the soap, it began to produce many bubbles.

As the frequency of rubbing increased, the foam grew more abundant. Gradually, the entire piece of linen clothing was covered with white foam.

Co Co continued to scrub a few more times before placing it in the water to rinse.

*Splash splash…* Co Co moved the linen clothing up and down in the wooden bowl, trying to rinse away all the white foam.

Her actions were all very practiced, suggesting she had experimented many times.

She rinsed the linen clothing several times in the water. After the white foam had been washed away, she lifted it out and wrung the entire garment dry.

“Shaman, please see if it’s clean,” Co Co handed over the washed linen clothing.

While washing the dirty linen, Co Co had already shown him the dirty spots.

Su Bai took the clean linen clothing and began to examine it. He surprisingly found that all the previously dirty areas had been completely cleaned.

The bowl of water had changed completely from clear to murky, demonstrating how strong the soap’s cleaning power was.

“It’s very clean. You’ve actually managed to make them. As I thought, you’re exceptional.” Su Bai praised her.

Co Co became somewhat embarrassed. This was the first time she had been praised so highly, and her face visibly reddened…

Smiling, she picked up the Animal Hide clothing and continued, “Shaman, let me show you how it works on Animal Hide as well.”

After all, linen and Animal Hide were two different materials. Clothing made from these two materials would certainly be different, so she needed to test the soap’s cleaning effectiveness on both types of material.

Co Co followed the same procedure as with the linen clothing, first showing him the dirty areas, then soaking it in water and beginning to clean.

*Splash splash…*

A few minutes later, the originally dirty-looking Animal Hide was immediately washed clean.

Su Bai inspected the Animal Hide clothing again and said with satisfaction, “This one is also cleaned very thoroughly. It is safe to say that it is a success.”

He had never imagined that she would be so good at experimenting, that in such a short time, she could develop soap with such an effective detergent.

“This is all thanks to the information the Shaman has provided me. Otherwise, I could never have researched this.” Co Co immediately shook her head and said.

She refused to take credit. If not for the few documents provided by the Shaman, she could not have made any of this.

“Let’s experiment with the other piece for me to see,” Su Bai smiled. After the first one’s success, he was somewhat eager to see the second one as well.

“Alright,” Co Co immediately agreed.

Co Co carried the original bowl used for washing clothes outside, intending to fetch a new bowl of water.

Ten minutes later, she returned to the second floor carrying a bowl of fresh water, her face beaming with smiles.

After placing the water on the table, Co Co awkwardly said, “Shaman, I may need someone else’s help.”

Su Bai was slightly stunned for a moment, but quickly realized what she meant and called out, “Xiao Yu, please come here for a moment.”

Yu Ying, who had been in the kitchen, ran out upon hearing his voice and looked at them with a puzzled expression.

“Shaman, what do you need me for?” Yu Ying’s hands were still wet.

“We’re conducting an experiment and we need your help.” Su Bai calmly said.

Yu Ying immediately stood up straight, nodded seriously, and said, “Shaman, how can I help?”
