I Became The Chief Of A Primitive Village

Chapter 426, Who Doesn’t Want to Soar into the Sky?

Su Bai finished his lunch. Sitting at the table deep in thought, his face showing little to no expression.

He held a cup filled with tea, occasionally tapping the side with his index finger.

His thick eyebrows furrowed from time to time, and his mouth occasionally tightened, appearing as though he was weighed down with concerns.

“Shaman, what’s the matter? Is something wrong?” Yu Ying noticed that something was not right. She had noticed the Shaman’s solemn demeanour when she came from the greenhouse and sheep pen this morning. But not wanting to pry too much, she had been busy with her own tasks. However, after hearing him sigh, her curiosity was aroused and she just had to ask.

“It’s nothing, I’m just thinking about something that can help us fly.” Su Bai said.

His expression suggests he was not joking, and he remained completely solemn after making this statement.

Yu Ying was somewhat stunned, not knowing what to say after hearing this.

This was the first time she had heard him speak like this, and she was confused. “Shaman, are you serious?”

Yu Ying had ten thousand different questions, wondering why he suddenly wanted to consider flying.

“Of course I’m serious, I’ve been thinking about it all morning.” Su Bai replied with continued seriousness.

He had not just been pondering this today; he had been contemplating it for the past couple of days. He thought that if the people of the Tribe could fly, things would certainly be different.

The entire Tribe would develop, and in an advanced way. Not only that, but they could also acquire different things more easily.

For example, they could explore unknown territories and patrol the areas surrounding the Tribe. Most importantly, they could bring back prey from the Hunting Ground – whether alive or dead – more easily.

This would be unlike last time when they had to lead the cattle and sheep back from the distant Hunting Ground. Not only was the journey long, but they frequently lost some animals along the way due to other predators and the elements.

“Shaman, how can we fly? We don’t have wings.” Yu Ying asked, blinking her pink eyes.

She knew that to fly, one definitely needed wings. There were not that many people in the Tribe with wings.

Only Ai’er, Cheng Shi, Shu Feng, and a few others had wings; everyone else did not.

“We can fly without wings.” Su Bai smiled.

After all, on Earth, there were things such as airplanes, gliders and hot air balloons. None of these required actual biological wings to fly.

“Then how do we fly? Is it with Shaman Technique?” Yu Ying curiously asked. This was the only explanation that made sense to her.

Besides wings and Shaman Technique, she could not really think of any other way to fly. [Since it is not wings, it must be a Shaman Technique, right?]

“If we use a Shaman Technique, wouldn’t I technically be the only one able to fly?” Su Bai smiled and continued, “I’m talking about everyone being able to fly without the use of a Shaman Technique.”

After hearing this, Yu Ying was both surprised and delighted, repeatedly asking. “Shaman, is that possible?”

Who never dreams of flying one day? Even people of this era have such dreams. They were all the same – even girls as little as three years old could see birds flying in the sky. Moreover, there were some people in the Tribe who had wings. Naturally, it was inevitable that some had the desire to soar through the sky.

Everyone wanted to know what it felt like to look down at the ground from high above at least once in their life.

“Of course it’s true. Have I ever lied to you until now?” Su Bai asked rhetorically.

When speaking with her, he never speaks in absolutes unless certain.

Not wanting to speak in absolutes was also about not wanting to give them too much hope, as their disappointment would be greater if the expectations were not met.

It was better to speak as he had been doing, saying half and leaving half unsaid, rather than being too definitive. If he could not deliver what he promised, his image in their mind would collapse. If it did not collapse, it would diminish.

Unless it was something he was absolutely certain about, he would not speak as definitively as what he was doing right now.

“No, Shaman has never lied to us,” Yu Ying said happily.

Yu Ying was very excited. She was naturally delighted at the prospect of flying.

To fly without using a Shaman Technique or not needing to grow wings seemed too incredible.

Besides being excited about flying, she was really curious about how they would actually do it.

“But Shaman, how can we fly?” Yu Ying asked.

“I guess we can make a hot air balloon and fly in that.” Su Bai explained with a gentle smile.

Yes, his idea was to create a hot air balloon to fly in, which was both convenient to make and feasible. Much more realistic than having people grow wings or using a Shaman Technique to fly.

Moreover, a hot air balloon could be made bigger or smaller according to his design.

Additionally, a hot air balloon could carry many prey back from the Hunting Ground.

The Hunting Team would not have to carry everything back themselves, making their task easier while not reducing the amount of prey brought back.

Most importantly, this time, they could transport live cattle and sheep, placing them in the hot air balloon instead of needing to lead through the Wilderness.

Of course, only small animals like lambs or calves could be placed on the hot air balloon, as it could not bear too much weight.

Also, large animals were harder to control when they were moved, making it easy for the hot air balloon to lose control.

Small animals were easier to manage; as long as someone watched over them carefully, there should not be any problems.

Moreover, the hot air balloon could be made larger and sturdier.

“Hot air balloon? What’s a hot air balloon?” Yu Ying asked, tilting her head. She knew the word ‘hot’, but ‘balloon’ was somewhat unfamiliar to her.

“It can be considered a kind of transportation vehicle.” Su Bai said after some thought.

“Transportation vehicle? Shaman, what is that?” Yu Ying suddenly heard more unfamiliar terms.

“It’s something that can help us move around. Something that would allow us to move around without walking. It will save us a lot of time. Typically, that’s called a transportation vehicle.” Su Bai explained in simple terms.

“I see. So, Shaman, this hot air balloon will let us fly, right?” Yu Ying asked.

In terms of understanding, hers was quite simple. Her focus remained on being able to fly.
